Clinic is the hot ticket
April 18th, 2008
By Stephen Tsai
By Stephen Tsai
Tomorrow's first UH football coaches clinic is proving to be overwhelmingly popular — too much, perhaps.
As of yesterday, UH received about 350 paid applications for the all-day clinic, which features seminars and one-on-one sessions with the UH coaches. Many more walk-up applications are expected tomorrow morning. At $10 a ticket — with all of the money covering the food, refreshments and material — this is one of the best bargains in a while.
The auditorium, where the coaches will meet, seats 200. UH will look for alternative rooms. Stan Sheriff Center? That's what one of the UH workers suggested.
In any case, the clinic shows the high popularity of Warrior football.

April 18th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Good Morning Tsaikos!
Jojo-
Good...thanks for asking. Good to see you are still around. Been busy?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Sounds like good times, an introduction to Hawaii Football, that may pay a ton of dividends for the future.
maybe i'll try to sneak in. i get $10. just got paid today. hmmmm?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:07 am
I had to fill out the questionnaire again to get into the comments section. I thought it had been deleted. Why has it appeared again?
Oh well, this time it allowed me to pass Go.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:10 am
ST, you didn't mention how well you did on the Local Grindz test. Hope you did better than the others in the newsroom.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:11 am
J'ai faim.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:12 am

Addahknowspots - Oui. Nous avons fini le projet.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:19 am
I haven't taken it yet.
But I promise I won't be as whiney as Stacy Kaneshiro and say: "Oh, it's too small. I can't see the picture."
April 18th, 2008 at 9:20 am
We all set for tomorrow?
There's a sorta-sorta scrimmage, and then it's off to fa-la-la-la night.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:20 am
Jojo-
Gambate ne!
April 18th, 2008 at 9:24 am
I finally passed the test when I was doing my reading for ES 330, and it mentioned teriyaki. That was the key word I was missing for a couple. And nishime. So I supplemented my Tsaiko education with UH education.
al: If you were talking to me, I know the Mamas and the Papas. Not a big fan, but they are alright.
Stretch: I think I'll be there at Call the Coach on Monday. Should I model my jersey?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:26 am
I might be able to make it to practice tomorrow. All I know is that it's going to be a long day. Math meet in the morning, karaoke at night.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Jason - if you wear the jersey, don't forget to bring your pillow and blanket since it will look like you are wearing a nightgown.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Heard the replay of the JJ interview on Leahey and Leahey at 8:30am. I wish all the haters heard what June said. But when I think about it, no sense, because a lot of minds were made up. I think many here know the numerous accomplishments during his coaching career produced. From 0-12 to 9-4 and a win over Oregon State in the Hawaii Bowl in 1999. And in 2007, a WAC Championship, an undefeated season, and a trip to a BCS Bowl, the Sugar Bowl.
But like JJ said, the haters will only remember the Sugar Bowl loss, his resignation, and the bolt to bucks at SMU. And now the debacle of the $400K JJ owes UH. All of this drama because the former AD makes a verbal agreement to keep the $$$$.
Per June, Hinshaw and McClain are taking this to litigation to get the money back.
June said, Hinshaw, in her position, can only make judgement on what is written.
Didnt Hinshaw and McClain just pay off the fake AD $300K and few weeks of office space, plus bonuses. Bonuses earned by the performance of his coaches and players. And the so called, profit, made during his regime, is actually a possible $6 million dollar loss. Like others said earlier here, isnt this fraud. In private businees, if the CEO or principal did this, owners and stakeholders would look for a lynching.
June is doing the right think. Make the upper campus whistle for the money. Call your legal, eagle team collect the cash. Fly to Dallas and go get it.
Ooops, I keep forgeting, this is a state entity. Always award and promote the screw ups and ones who "talk a good story." Ones who produce and get the job done, get a ton of fustration. Been there. Just gotta be happy a got a job and can sleep at night with a clear conscience.
ok time to take da anger mgt pill
April 18th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Jason - no forget the baseball doubleheader starting at 1, football practice at 330 in between, then karaoke at 7. No forget so sleep early tonight and rest up.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:34 am
OK, I got 35.
Which means I'm eligible to be an editor, news director or associate athletic director.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:36 am
I don't think I can make the baseball game. I do want to take my oldest niece to one of the games in a few weeks. I took her to a game during the summer at Aloha Stadium (I forget what league that was), and she got a foul ball. (Then again, I think there were five of us there.)
April 18th, 2008 at 9:38 am
daMMIT! the questionnaire to nowhere is up again and blocking me from Esme's contest and this blog!!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Hey, ST, congrats! Not bad for a New York transplant like yourself.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Stephen, you are now on Tsaiko probation. Only 35? You've been hanging around Herman Frazier for too long.
If things keep up like this, we might have to oust you. Brother Mike can take over, or Princess Leila.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Well, my downfall, like in most things, is my spelling.
Hey, how do we get our regular readers to take the test? Can Stretch post a link that we can post here?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:42 am
ST- sounds like you may enjoy more variety in your local diet menu
April 18th, 2008 at 9:42 am
est-ce que c'est parlent le jour francais ?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:43 am
By the way, the folks at UH tell me that somebody hasn't turned in his courtesy car.
And if you keep a courtesy car, does it make it a rude car?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:45 am
what questionnaire? On the otherhand I can't click on any of Garret's links from the iPhone. Three weeks without a computer. I wonder how I going manage...
April 18th, 2008 at 9:46 am
Liz:
Good morning. Took my pill. getting mellow.
Took me two days to get rid of the $%#% questionaire. Go to the home page.
Click opinion and scroll down to feature blogs. Cross your fingers you bypass the &^%%$ questionaire.
Cleared the cache twice. Even closed IE and restarted. Finally about 7:30pm - success. But still, I get the feeling da buggah go show up again.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:47 am
ST - I am not a computer person. Not sure how to link up the excel file. Maybe SteveM can put it on his site and people can go there to check it out??
It doesn't make it a rude car, it makes HF a thief!!
April 18th, 2008 at 9:48 am
ST:
It is not a rude car, it is called a FELONY. File your report with your local HPD officer.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:51 am
We all know I never use "irony" correctly.
But is it ironic that the instructions on how to successfully log on to this site are posted on ... this site?
I mean, if you're already here, you probably don't need instructions, right?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:52 am
i think its called grand theft auto.
send mcgarret out and book em dano!
April 18th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Koauka- Yeah- I have cleared cache and cookies 3 times and signed into the HA site and I know how to backdoor into the blog but WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. HA should remove that buggy questionnaire!
No backdoor to Hawaii Moms.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Maybe its for prehistoric Moanalua graduates.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:53 am
So if the JJ case goes to trial, will JJ call HF to the witness stand? Would HF be a credible witness?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:53 am
ST- more like moronic...
April 18th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Wassup Tsaikos?!
April 18th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Let me try, Liz. Of course the sales and marketing folk needs their stats.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:54 am
moronic= MORE IRONIC
bwahahaha!
I better make my coffee now.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Je ne sais pas.
Addahknowsports started talking Japanese to me and jeje is still sleeping so I gotta wait for him to get up to tell me what she said.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Why doesn't UH just sell him the car....... for $312,000
April 18th, 2008 at 9:58 am
ST, it's OK to post instructions on your blog entry. We can read it without answering the survey. It's just when we want to enter the comment section that we have to answer the survey.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:59 am
okay....i am thinking.
if we want to have 25 to 30 thousand screaming fans for the first ever spring game don't you think we need to step up the marketing plan yesterday????
i have talking it up and have found that many friends, family, and fans had no idea of the 26th.
for now, i believe that part of the hype is missing in the who's the quarterback because we all know that even though tyler will probably emerge as numero uno after spring it is still not his until alexander and rausch make a pitch for number one.
same goes for the wide receivers and maybe a corner.
but, hey we need to pound the sand to get the hype going real soon.
they need to push some ink and multi-media blitzes. it would be worth while if they couple the event with a one time season ticket special.
...nuff said
April 18th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Al, interesting that you predict Tyler will be #1 QB. I feel the same way. Just my gut instinct.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Sorry Liz, went through Island life, then to the ballot, then the link to Hawaii Moms.
My wrist is sore. Index finger sore.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:04 am
Al:
That's my point. Aint Johnny Mac in charge of marketing. He has no initiative
to do this.
Sorry JM fans, he gotta go. Proactive rather reactive.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Three hundred fifty plus applicants for the clinic is brain cell boggling!
Stretch - ST could ask that the excel file be hosted on the 'Tizer servers but then it would really slow down the blog. If anything, they should swap out the existing questionnaire with the local grindz q-naire.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:09 am
We appologize for the survey once again today. We'll do what we can do get it turned off once again.
Until then, please continue to let us know if you folks are still seeing the survey.
Mahalo for your cooporation while we troubleshoot this issue.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:14 am
Bon jours, Tsaikos!
J'etudiez Francais pour cinq ans, mais je ne parle beaucoup. Nor do I remember if I can spell correctly. But I can say,
IMUA WARRIORS!!!
I think we need to take legal action against HF!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:16 am
MeiLing - I haven't studied French and don't speak it.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:18 am
You're kidding right. What makes it so difficult to turn off?
April 18th, 2008 at 10:26 am
koauka....
even the press will have huge decisions in the coming week regarding where their ink will go to.
colt brennan prospects?
or
warrior spring game?
how can the satisfy both?
i think they have to satisfy both.
i think if they haven't they need to get the spring game rosters and publish them like they do for any regular season game.
that's part of the hype and they (HA) could sell ad space on the rosters.
someone needs to see what the big time programs do to get 70-90 thousand fans for their spring game. you want to be big time you gotta act big time.
we need to have the new under armour gear available for sell at this game already. although it may be too early at this point, the game that is.
ah. what do i know?
see you all at the game!!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:27 am
MeiLing- I speak French if that's the only thing to speak. One day a few years back, I had the privilege of having a house guest from Tahiti. She spoke as much English as I did French. But we stayed up and talked about life and challenges all through the night. Language is just a convenient way for hearts to share
April 18th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Homey: That survey is something we don't have any control over locally. Once again, We apologize for any inconveniences and we're doing all we can to make your experience a good one.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Mei Ling-
Five years...wow.
Homey has a cheat sheet.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:36 am
To think on a positive note, maybe bruddah Jim may pull a few fan friendly surprises next Saturday night?
The early years of Riley's Midnight Ohana, you gotta admit was good stuff. That's a good example to spread the hype for the upcoming season.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:38 am
I am always disappointed when there are barriers to would-be commenters. The HA survey is a barrier that is difficult to overcome. Other blogs require the blogger to register with Google.
My blog (Wordpress) requires only the blogger's name and email address. That's it.
So simple.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Conflict of interest!!!
The Master Calendar - posted by the Master who must be obeyed - shows babysitting tomorrow!
Much as I like football ... well, you get the general idea!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Tom,
You have my utmost respect and sympathy -- I, too, babysit my granddaughter (now 5 months old) twice a week. Exhausting work!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Feedback - So is it safe to assume you don't have access to the website's source code? Modifications and enhancements are made at a different location? BTW, what is the reason for the need to clear cache and delete cookies?
April 18th, 2008 at 10:47 am
A-sports - I had to learn French because I have French poodles.
XLiz - ...and German too!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Cookies? Tracking my surfing? Hmmm?
April 18th, 2008 at 10:48 am
New Bowl may start as early as this season--the Rocky Mountain Bowl. I don't think the NCAA will approve all of the proposals, because if new bowls start in Salt Lake, DC, and St. Pete, there really might not be enough bowl-eligible teams to fill the bowls!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:49 am
gigi - you may need the sympathy but Tom doesn't. He enjoys babysitting!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:50 am
BSU just raised ticket prices a pretty significant amount. 27% to 42.5% increases in ticket prices in just 2 years is pretty steep.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:51 am
It puzzles me why Tom's wife can't babysit while Tom is at the football practice.
I babysit while hubby is at work.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:53 am
gigi - I just wrote that Tom enjoys babysitting.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Feedback - I don't envy you your job.
xs-homey, what would we do w/o Google translators???
Was würden wir tun ohne iGoogle?
会怎样,我们都离不开的iGoogle ?
Que ferions-nous sans iGoogle?
April 18th, 2008 at 10:54 am
gigi - also, would you babysit while hubby is at the blog party?
April 18th, 2008 at 10:55 am
This Rivals article has some relevant content.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:57 am
The Patriots might draft Colt...I hadn't heard that their coaches like Colt until this article. That is probably something that the coaches wouldn't want other teams to know! The writer says that Colt should be available in the late rounds, but if it is known that many coaching staffs like Colt, then his draft stock will climb quickly.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:57 am
XLiz - and all this time I was "thumbing" through my myriad of foreign language to english dictionaries! Thanks for the iGoogle tip!
April 18th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Tombo's blog got a nice shout-out here.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:01 am
Feedback,
I use Firefox and cleared the cache and cookies and still got the survey earlier. I'm glad that there is a way around the survey via the Advertiser front page, but I really wish I didn't have to work that hard to get here. I can't click the arrow at the top to get to the next blog, but at least once I'm on a page then the survey doesn't come up anymore.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:04 am
This game must have been brutal on the pitcher's arm and on the official scorer. The regular scorecards I have used in the past would not have been able to handle so many batters in one inning!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:06 am
This writer disagrees with ESPN about Ryan Leaf being the biggest NFL draft bust ever.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Hi Garret!
xs- you are welcome
April 18th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Break time is over...boss is cracking the whip.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Wow, Garret- nomo 10 run rule in Japan???
April 18th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Stephen,
I would have them call the cops and report the "courtesy" car as being stolen property. He better not be charging the gas to UH still too.
That would be another great thing to add to his rap sheet, I mean resume.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:13 am
So if HF returns the courtesy car, will JD then use it? Or will he sell it and buy another one? To me, HF's car would be bad luck.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Great to see the synergy......synchronistic energy of the football coahes of all levels in Hawaii searching for more info about their passion......chinese proverb....."knowledge comes from ur sifu..sensei...guro....mentor......learning is a lifetime process.....and wisdom comes from within"
April 18th, 2008 at 11:32 am
XLiz - 10 run rule is usually after 5 innings.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:35 am
xs- ah, yes...
April 18th, 2008 at 11:39 am
XLiz - I remember many 10+ run games when Mililani youth teams crushed, I mean outscored Kauai youth teams...JUST JOKING!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:42 am
xs-homey - hmmm... i seem to have forgotten those.
Actually, we really enjoyed the get-togethers with Mililani! Ukuboi finished up his PONY eligibility a few years ago and I have been away from the bb guys. Sadly, I just heard that the Waimea PONY and MUSTANG teams did not have enough players to field a team and the kids had to go to Kekaha. YIKES!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Krazy Karaoke peeps - what are you going to wear???
Is it going to be a formal affair? Ifso, I'm wearing my Granny Call Tsai-ko shirt and jeans.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Youth league in any sport is fun. Potlucks were my favorites. Refereeing a soccer game and telling a loud parent to shut-up was priceless.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Liz, That sounds like a good plan. I think we'll have a few "twins" showing up in "formal" clothing. See you soon.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Did anybody else read the article in today's 'Tizer about Rep. Abercrombie and others in congress launching possble anti-trust proceedings against the SS, oops, I mean, BCS? Wonderful news! The honorable Rep. from Georgia is also co-sponsoring the bill, believing as most of us here do, that GEORGIA should have been playing for the national championship.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:53 am
formal karaoke wear....
your best tshirt limited to one puka only.
shorts that are not cut offs.
matching slippers...no need be the same size.
brush your hair and teeth. please.
for kauai people....kulolo required for entry purposes.
jus jokin about the kulolo
April 18th, 2008 at 11:54 am
so, no can make small or larger fonts?????
April 18th, 2008 at 11:54 am
If gigi was going I know what she would wear.
Men's attire: T-shirt, shorts and slippahs...I bet Esme dresses up.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:55 am
ummm......dpk
yes its been out there for awhile now.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:55 am
yep, I'm wearing a long muumuu as we speak. haha
April 18th, 2008 at 11:55 am
ah- soccer. I took the training to be some kind of field helper but they wouldn't fund the oxygen tank and moped so I could keep up with the action!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:57 am
Gigi:
What you mean "if HF returns the car"?
HF should have returned the carS when his 90 days were up! Why is UH allowing him to keep the car? What is being done to get the cars back? Hey ding bat, it is none of your damn business ( sorry, talking to meself ).
Repoman, where art thou? Better watch because dis bugga supposedly get one gold medal.
My biggest wish at this moment is for a certain person to GET OUT OF HAWAII!!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
A-House - but wait. If a certain person were to step up and return a certain bonus, testify on behalf of a certain former fb coach that he DID agree to not penalize him for early departure...
THAT would neutralize a lot of baaad juju in my book!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
wow, AHouse, you sound mad! haha
April 18th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
- not THAT juju - I mean juju=karma
April 18th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
>Krazy Karaoke peeps - what are you going to wear???
Is it going to be a formal affair? Ifso, I’m wearing my Granny Call Tsai-ko shirt and jeans.
LizK,
When I am singing, it should be a formal affair, with everyone remaining silent as work my magic. Standing ovations will be allowed AFTER I have sung, however, because I realize that you all may want to express your profound appreciation.
Now then, when everybody else is singing, we may all sing along and be the rowdy, slobberin' drunk, happy go lucky Tsaikotics we are. Jeans and Tee Shirts will be acceptable as attire.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Sugar Bowl rings:
Is it true that Tsai and Kekaula getting rings or is some one pulling my leg?
With all due respects to both gentlemen, they should NOT receive a UH Sugar Bowl ring. IMHO, only those coaches, players, and support personnel such as the medical volunteers should be eligible to receive a ring.
If you begin to identify people "outside" the program, what about the hundreds of individuals who have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Na Koa or Koa Nuenue to support the Warriors?
Tsai and Kekaula are reporters/journalists who are paid to report on sports and both are very good at it!!!!!!!!!
If someone is pulling my leg, shame on you!!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
A-House - ahdunno but sounds like some OTHER sports reporters got something that goes on a finger but ST did NOT. Dunno if it was real or memorex.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
DPK- for some reason, I CAN see you in a tux.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
LizK:
1st, it does matter to me if HF returned the "budget bonus" because
April 18th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
feedback - survey still popping up, no can pass go, hit go and nothing happen so i go back to previous page and try again and then i get in, strange
April 18th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
hmmm, what happened to the blog? A-House, are you still here?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
LizK:
Why would "other" sports reporters be awarded a UH WAC championship ring?
Real or not, in whose opinion were these individuals receipiants of something in which they had NO sweat and tears in achieving? It's like giving a war correspondent a medal for winning a war.
If it was "goodwill", it really distorts all the hard work of the coaches and players and support personnel.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
gigi- this is worse than my Dish Network reception during a thunderstorm!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
good afternoon gang !
sorry about 107 above, was getting frustrating trying to get in the door
April 18th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
LizK:
Sorry for # 106 - I must have hit a wrong button - do that all the time on my keyboard at work -
yikeees, I am at work!!!!!!!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
wow i cannot believe the car never get returned yet
April 18th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
I'm going to take a wild guess and figure that a WAC Championship Ring is different than a Sugar Bowl ring. Some bowls give out rings as gifts though I don't think that was one of the items listed for the last one.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Good Afternoon
In regards to Representative Abercrombie introducing a resolution in Congress to look into how the BCS has an unfair advantage over non BCS schools I think is a great idea.Twice before this resolution was brought before Congress and was shot down.My only wish is that other people of influence can lend there support in showing that the division between the BCS schools, basically separates the have and have nots. I wish other people of influence would show their support in quashing the BCS school's desire in segregating the haves and have nots.So in theory only the BCS schools will always have the lion's share of the bowl payouts, which is not a good thing for the non BCS schools.
When Georgia played Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl the disparity in payouts is unjustified.Hawaii received 4 million and Georgia 17 million. The WAC members received 400k per team. And SEC teams shared a lot more. The SEC conference winner is automatically aligned to a big bowl game. And the other member in the conference will always have a big share of the pie.So in theory the BCS schools will always have a huge payouts from the Bowl games with the worst teams in the BCS conferences receiving big monies, too. And if the lure of having the best athletic facilities and best coaches attracts the best athletes in the country then the schools having the payouts from the big bowl games can do this. Since all the good monies
are tied up in the top five conference bowl games .The five conferences will always be saturated with the best athletes because that's where the big cheese of wax is. Really the playing field is not fair and I thank Rep.Abercrombie for introducing this matter in Congress.
In closing,I personally appeal to the big advertisers of the BCS Bowl games to see it in their hearts that there is an appearances of impropriety where a few teams and the top conferences will perpetually have the bests foods on the table,so to speak, attract the best athletes and students to their campuses because of...what...entitlement. ..And,mean while lesser schools, non BCS schools, are stigmatized in being a non BCS school which in the name itself bespeaks of being impoverished and at a disadvantage. And it's so ever true.
How hard is it to recruit-and say, yeah we're a non BSC school?
For All State Insurance, the big sponsor of the Bowl games ,understandably will not want to stick their noses into this matter because, like the NCAA,it's all about making money. But I would think that if it wasn't for Representative Abercrombie and a few of the writer around the country that they,All State Insurance,is on the edge of their seat. The more notoriety and rightfull sheding of light on this subject has to weigh on the advertiser's minds, too. Which is a good thing for all the non BCS schools, including Hawaii.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Hi J! howcome you nomo computer???
April 18th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
DPK wants to know what everyone is wearing to the Krazy Karaoke?!?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Rings:
We're not "getting" Sugar Bowl rings.
We're buying them.
It's $296 (round it up to $300), written out to Na Koa.
I notified my boss when UH made the offer.
I'm buying it for my son.
As for me, I'm an Adventist. I don't wear jewelry, not even my wedding ring.
Hope that clears it up.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Homey -- please don't bait them. Everyone's figured out by now no local control on this--otherwise this third-rate server software would be dumped or fixed after all this time.
My first clue was 2+ weeks ago when Andreas Arvman replied he could duplicate the BLUE SCREEN problem in Mac Safari...somehow implying he did not have access to a Mac. Must be all the Macs in shown in the HA dept. are dual-boots running Windows exclusivley?
homey -- what made you guess the tech guys were in India a few weeks ago?
[deep breaths...] Weekend coming--moving on to happier and less asinine topics...
April 18th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
jojo,
No, DPK doesn't care what everybody wears, LizK wanted to know.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
LizK:
It would be nice if HF decides to return his "budget bonus" because it appears that there is no "surplus', but a huge deficit. Does this amount to fraud? What about the people who put the budget together showing a surplus when in fact there is none.
Even if he did this and testified about the $400K dispute, this does not, IMHO, square not returning the car(s) at the end of the 90 day period beyond his termination date. It's a totally different matter which includes integrity.
I listened to JJ on Lehay & Lehay this morning about the termination clause. If it was agreed, why did not HF amend the contract to show the verbal agreement. Like JJ said, all the "key" players are no longer with UH.
It appears that his ghost will haunt us for a long time and it will damper all the good things JD and Coach Mack are doing for the Warrior program and all UH sports.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Oh, wait. Maybe it is a WAC ring.
I dunno. I haven't picked it up yet.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Thanks, ST for the explanation.
Can we buy also or was the offer only to select individuals?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
SteveM,
Great, you're here! Mr.Tsai and I were just talking about you. Can you please repost the specifics for the Karaoke call, including directions to the place?
Did you guys go down there last night? How was it?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
homey - now i know where i remember you from, you were the one yelling at the parents, hope you not working the state cup this weekend.
hey jojo - are you singing on saturday too?
A-house - i doubt it that he will return the bonus, he cannot even return the car
April 18th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
I thought bowl rings went to the champion team only. So why would UH get Sugar Bowl rings? Isn't the ring that athletes received WAC champ rings, then?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
oops, my bad. I just ate a lot of peppers. When I burped, I seemed to have skipped over some parts of the blog.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
kid,
this is the link to stevem's tsaiko site.
scroll down to find karaoke call.
click the address link to krazy karaoke for the map.
if can not check telephone book and call for directions.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
SteveM, did you and Bulla do the recon last night?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
RE: Karaoke Call Dress
My two cents: wear anything.
I think it would look nice if all the Tsai-kettes who have their ladies model Tsai-ko shirts (like Liz's) wear them. The guys could wear the Tsai-ko/Manoa Poi Company shirts or other Tsai-ko shirt.
Maybe Blog Party 4 in July would be black Tsai-ko apparel?
April 18th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Note to self- don't buy bling for ST's special occasions... check.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
If there were a Tsaiko muumuu, I'd wear it. Hint-hint!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Rings:
As far as I know everybody is eligible to buy a ring.
There were two orders. One for the players, coaches, staff, administrators, etc. UH paid for those rings. However, because of the lengthy procurement process, Na Koa paid for the order. UH then was to reimburse Na Koa.
The second order was for everybody else.
About two weeks after he was hired, Mack called and said he wanted to give me a ring. He made similar offers to others.
I told him I couldn't accept a free ring.
But after chatting with others, including a reporter from a competing paper, I figured I'd buy one. I was going to give it away as a blog prize, but then my son said he wanted it. So I figured, OK, I'll get it for him. But if he tires of it, and he's 14, I figure I can still give it away. I need a tax writeoff, anyway.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
gigi- THAT can be arranged. But you have to come to a karaoke call to pick it up
April 18th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
ST, isn't your son an Adventist, too?
It's a great looking ring!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
ST- LizKauai will wear bling... hint hint...
April 18th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
But I don't sing, Liz... haha
April 18th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
gigi- your'e Korean, aren't you? Of course you sing! Like Wii bowling- just takes some practice!
I remember when gigi didn't go to T-gates either
April 18th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
However, if people really want to remember the season, they may buy "The Perfect Season," a book that is apparently selling like day-old hotcakes.
I think I'm the leading buyer. I bought, like 18, which I gave away.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Sweet sassy molassy...
350 already with more to come tomorrow?!?!?
Hmmm. I thought that the registration/RSVP form suggested to RSVP now and pay at the day of the clinic, had I known, I would have just sent the payment ahead of time.
It's going to be interesting how things turn out tomorrow...
April 18th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Actually, the only time I wear my wedding ring or any other jewelry is when I go to a party or restaurant or the opera. I never wear bling at home.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
ST, hubby bought The Perfect Season at Costco months ago. Good buy!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Speaking of Na Koa donations, know the Pigskin Pigout? I always buy a ticket, even if I'm reporting on the event. Anyway, ticket buyers used to be put on a mailing list. I used to get a newsletter that sometimes led to story ideas. A while back, somebody figured out that I was a reporter, and there went the newsletters.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Liz, I might go to a K call just for the camaraderie. I would love to hear the wahine sing harmony.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
ST,
My Mom bought 2 copies of The Perfect Season, 1 for me. To save on postage I won't get the book until the next time I see them which will be Vegas in June.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Hi gang. Yes... we joined the Bulla team in scouting out the room and facilities. I will send out an email later today with the findings and what updates I have received. Everything is positive and we should be comfortable enough.
The long counter and bar stool counter area in the back of the room is larger than the photo indicated, so there should be no problem with ice chests and fuud goodies. BTW, Kekoa has dibs on bringing a 96-quart ice chest for his, Koakane, and homeys suds
All other ice chests should be smaller and "sharing" is recommended.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Gigi:
The pictures are really good.
It should have been a photo book only.
Even though the title is a misnomer, I think it's one of those things you buy, store away, and it'll mean stuff years later.
That's why everyone should go to the RainbowTique and buy all of those Sugar Bowl hats and T-shirts, the ones marked down to $5. You'll wish you did 10 years from now.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Liz,
The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that the pitcher gave up 66 runs and threw 250+ pitches in less than 2 innings...and the manager never replaced him! Doesn't that team have another pitcher they can use? Leaving that pitcher in was bad for the team and horrible for the pitcher's arm!
April 18th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
i think it was nice for Coach Mack to offer the rings but even nicer for ST to pay for the ring himself with the thought of giving it away to one of the bloggers
the department should consider selling replicas to the public to raise some funds, don't have to be the exact ring but something similar to show school pride
i remember a certain hs gave watches and jackets to their state champion team but cannot remember who paid for it, don't think it was the league, probably was the boosters and the school
April 18th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
gigi- the k-kall IS ALL ABOUT the camaraderie! See? Be sure to sign up for the next one!!! We'll work on that muumuu variation
April 18th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Gigi:
No, my son hasn't been baptized.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
hey good idea, for some reason a lot of people tell me i could use a hat
April 18th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Loa - I yell at everyone.
SteveM - And here I was waiting for Feedback to respond back and you just had to mention baiting them...oh well. I figure they would use India because they are non-union.
If I recall, doesn't the ring say "Sugar Bowl" on one side and "WAC Champs" on the other side?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Salut Loa! Homey mentioned an alley by the Krazy Karaoke
April 18th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
The ESPN article really messed up the facts and I've seen a lot of people here post the incorrect information. Georgia did NOT get $17 mil from the Sugar Bowl, that number is WAY, WAY off. UH's $4.4 mil figure is the payout to the school, but the other WAC teams and the other non-BCS conference teams outside the WAC got a piece of it.
If you look at the figures for the Big 12, a Big 12 team earns something like an extra $1.5 mil for playing in a BCS Bowl, above what the school would get anyway from its cut of the Big 12 portion of the BCS money.
Georgia was the second team from the SEC to make it to a BCS Bowl (LSU obviously was the other). If I remember correctly, that means that the SEC got an additional $4.5 mil for having a second team play in a BCS Bowl. UH earned something like $9 mil for making a BCS Bowl, of which about $6 mil went to the WAC and $4.4 mil went to UH.
So, UH made more money by making it to the Sugar Bowl than Georgia did. Much, much more money. But since the ESPN article was so far off the facts, people here have been posting rants that are based on false foundations and our elected representatives have also messed up the facts.
Sorry, I'll stop ranting now. I just hate it when the facts get mangled and people get upset about things after these types of mistakes in reporting.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
xs-homey, if you yell at me, I will
You are right about the ring.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
re: Rings
Heard on Leahey & Leahey this am that Coach Mack presented rings to both Pops & Kanoa yesterday.
Stephen: WOW! Sugar Bowl ring as a blog prize?! That would have been CRAZY! Can I make an appt w/your son to see the ring???
April 18th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Loa doesn't need a hat!!! Me and ST may want the Loa look in a few years.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
ST,
Wait what... Through Na Koa you can purchase the WAC ring?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
XLiz - What? Cannot yell "Hana hou" at you?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Garret, how much EXACTLY did Georgia get from the SB, then?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
RE:Karaoke Call
I think jojo (with joje) might be a last minute arrival or at least drop by for a visit. gigi too?
BTW, gigi... as one pictured on Louise's Tsai-ko cartoon/caricature, you are entitled to a Tsai-ko applique like Liz's. If you supply a black muumuu with front suitable for the Tsai-ko applique, I think Addahknowjoe and I will try to make it...
April 18th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
WAC ring, Sugar Bowl ring...same smell.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:13 pm

Does this mean that you won't attend?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
SteveM, thanks. What kind of fabric should my muumuu be? Can it be polyester/cotton blend?
Or does it have to be a Tshirt type of fabric?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Me love you long time? I've heard that somewhere before... Can't quite put my finger on it.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
xs- but I thot that was printed on James' vinyl blowup... oops... nevermind
April 18th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
XLiz - Forgot...my apologies to joje. Of course I will throw football with her (if she comes) at the T-gate on the 26th.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
I's like to think that they'd make them for VIP's or friends of otherwise it may devalue the item.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
wow xs- you strollin "threw" memory lane now? Today's blog not fast enough for ya, eh?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
DPK - That's why I'm wearing a miniskirt.
7 - That's from "Full Metal Jacket". There was more to that line but I left it out.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
so, too late for go to the blog meetup yeah? I'd like to meet all of you in person...
I guess next times.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
homey: yah! that's where it's from.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Okay, what's the Loa look? Is this a new trend? I know the gigi look and the LizK look, and I think the Kazz look will be updated to Under Armour in the near future...
April 18th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
DPK- hey, a girl's gotta try, eh? Actually, I leave my bling in the safe depo box. I only have one real one- from my mom. It's a whopper.
If I wear it, I might get mugged because think:
She's engaged.
She's rich.
She has a sugar daddy.
She's a showoff.
They don't think:
Her mom gave it to her and she wears it to honor her mom.
Someday I'll wear a big bling again.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
XLiz - I think I'm partially autistic savant.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
xs- which part?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:26 pm

Ok, with the help of Ctrl+F I see what the dicussion on the rings were about...
April 18th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
7 - you can always stop by and lurk at the KK. Just stroll by like you are a patron from another room. Can't miss us, we'll be the ones rolling on the floor after ST does his roar.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
We need a rimshot "smiley" ... Tsai-kos are on a roll!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:33 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
d1shima - You still trying to get fireworks?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Hmmm.....
April 18th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Speaking of June Jones, for those of us celebrating May Day in the Bay area, there will be a Five Star Aloha Gala honoring 2008 Kulia i Ka Nu'u Recipient June Jones.
Former UH players now with the 49'ers will be attending, hosted by Larry Beil with keynote speaker Allan Ikawa - founder of Big Island Candies.
For more information and to purchase online - http://hccnc.com/fivestaraloha/index.htm
To purchase tickets via check or by calling-in, please call 415.775.7005 and ask for Marlena
More on June Jones – oral agreement? Frazier probably did not have the authority to waive anything, just like Reinhold did not have the authority to award the scholarship to that Nevada safety. Also, an oral agreement to amend a written contract – come on.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Stop it d1!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

Oh, maybe the line was, "Me give you plenty boom boom"?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:37 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Good Afternoon
The attendees of the coaches clinic no doubt are the coaches taking what they learn and passing it on to their players. On all levels of competition,
somewhere in Hawaii the kids will be benefiting. And maybe elsewhere.
Since the clinic is open to the public with no criteria s of who can attend is also a good thing.
With so much good will that the University of Hawaii football staff does in promoting football in the state of Hawaii by doing these coaches and speed and quickness clinics they are really planting the seeds into others to learn. And grow. This is great for the players and the coaches, which in turn effects the quality of play on a levels of football in Hawaii.
And then something dawned on me...and I thought, wow, wouldn't it be a great idea if someone can videotape tomorrow's clinic and pass more good will, and coaching knowledge to our neighbors that can't be here tomorrow. Wouldn't it be aspiring for coaches and kids from Samoa or New Zealand that can look at the tapes of the clinic and gain more insight into coaching. And learn more football fundamentals. So all can benefit.
Even from the standpoint of having tomorrow's clinic videotaped and sent on to Y tube would have a lot of good merits aside from other coaches learning.
But the influence, maybe, that it can have on the recruits.
If there was ever a proclamation of who or what has done a lot for the community and Hawaii. Look no further than at Coach Mack and his staff.
This is really great. And we should be proud of our football leaders and the precedences they are setting by their fostering and caring of Hawaii football on all levels.

I'm not sure that 350 coming to $10 beer and pupu's really shows the popularity of Warrior football.
Like al said earlier things must be put in place to really kick it up.
If Mack wants 30k indahouse for Spring game there needs to be major effort expended real quick.
To my mind excitement about your CFB team looks like 5800 tix sold online in the FIRST HOUR for the spring game (which happened in Lincoln as some of you may recall)
April 18th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Humph. Just for that, I'm getting my junior prom gown out of storage.

BTW, I bet you can't fit in your Junior Prom dress!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Esme- I was FINALLY able to get in through the FRONT door (ahem, d1) and vote for your Mom of the Year! Wow- it was a hard choice... so many wonderful candidates!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Was that the sound of a collective "GROAN" from the other Tsaikettes I just heard?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Kazz - I think the waitresses at Camellia will fall in love with you.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
d1- that groan was from me- looking at the Wall St. closing stats. I dumped my portfolio back into the market today.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
homey,
Is that because Kazz is "all thumbs"?
April 18th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Korean motto: Buy me drinkee
April 18th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
i can't believe that this school would make jj pay them $400,000. that's just petty of them. imho, he coached every game last year so he fufilled his contract. he's the greatest coach in our schools history. everything he did with warrior football is still felt today. his fingerprints are all over the program. just because he left for more money doesn't make him a bad coach nor a bad person. the jj haters make me sick!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
d1shima - Looks like someone hasn't gotten nookie in a long time.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Whoa homey,
Talk about not getting involved in conversations???
(standing aside)
April 18th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
WJD, I agree with you! Very petty, indeed.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
WJD - It's not they are JJ haters. They are just going by what is worded in the contract.
April 18th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
homey,
I just miss that DVD!
April 18th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
whatevers, to me, he fufilled the true nature of the contract and that was to not leave early. if he left before the season was over, then i can see them going through with it, but he did not. think about if he did stay until april. he not only screws himself in trying to get another job even though his contract expires, but the school is screwed because no new coach during recruiting season. the only reason it went to april is so it falls into the fiscal budget
April 18th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
WJD,
From the Chancellor's position she has to protect the interests of the school. Can't afford to set a precedent where verbal claims are allowed to prevail over written contracts.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
I'm trying not to hate anything.
Life is too short.
If I get run over by a truck today, I would like to leave with happy thoughts about everyone.
Even the blogsite.
It's just a portal to a cacophony of Tsai-kos.
Not worth hating.
JJ is loved in this house for what he did for our kids.
The rest is just AM static.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
gigi - from a contract perspective. Say you paid someone $8000 to re-landscape and fix up the external parts of your house. They completed the landscaping (half of the job) but did not do anything to the house and left. Would you want $4000 back or are you satisfied with a nice yard?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
like i said, the school is petty and trashes the people who were good while awards people who suck
April 18th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
so- otoh
If someone was contracted to get a bonus for making sales goals, got the bonus, and then it was discovered that the goods were never delivered, would he have to forfeit the bonus?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Esme still has her Junior Prom dress?
Oh wait, I think JuJu has my dress
April 18th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Let's look at this:
JJ says he left cause of unfulfilled promises made by HF;
JJ says HF promised him it's OK for him to leave early.
Hmmmm....
...and where was his big bucks agent in all of this?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
homey, UH paid JJ for the fall season and he did his job admirably for that season. UH did not pay JJ for spring semester and JJ did not work during Spring semester.
Why would JJ have to return the money for fall season?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
XLiz - I would say yes because the terms of the contract was never met.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
gigi - What are the terms of the contract?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
While I do not think JJ can walk on water, I definitely think JJ is one of the finer minds in football and one who has contributed much to Hawaii not only in football but also in his charitable work.
$400,000 is not chimp-change, let alone petty change.
It's in the contract and everyone, even JJ are bound by the language that was agreed upon (and even reviewed by his attorney or agent).
Contracts are not suggestions. Unfortunately when we give our WRITTEN word, we are bound by it.
Just my two cents.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
jojo- if you and Esme wear your prom dresses....
We will take pictures!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
JJ led the team to a $4.4 million payout to UH. And JJ got nothing from that $4.4 million. Where's the justice in trying to extract $400K from JJ, contract notwithstanding?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Remember when AC Carter woke up one morning and found that his agent failed to follow thru on a contract stip that cost AC $Millions?
The agent made good on the $ to AC.
JJ's agent should now do the same.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
I just think UH should be magnanimous and just let JJ go with God's blessing.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
xs- but the guy was paid to make SALES. If the goods are not delivered - whose problem is that?
I actually quit a job because I was told to promise service and write up orders to customers when I KNEW from talking to the engineers that there was no plan to bring service to that area.
It happens all the time in the corporate world.
'as why I no work dat kine job no mo.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
One of the main factors that contributed to JJ leaving was the ineptness of the Fumbler, the procastination of the Fumbler, the unprofessionalism of the Fumbler, the ineffective communication skills of the Fumbler and the Fumbler being a "Legend in his own mind". Now JJ hangs his defense on the $400,000 buck scandal with a verbal agreement allegedly given by the Fumbler. How can anyone with an ounce of a brain rely of the Fumbler? Did that accident take out more of JJ's frontal lobe than we thought?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
tommui- you are correct, of course. A deal is a deal.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
gigi - So are you saying that you would forget the $4000 and go with God's blessings because your yard is now nice?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
homey,
That isn't a good analogy because the contract was for $8000 for the season and in this case the contractor only got paid $4000. If your analogy the workers were paid $8000, which wasn't the case--UH paid half the money for half (more than half, actually if you go by months) the job.
JJ did NOT get his full contracted dollars, he got half. If (and probably when) he pays back the $400k penalty, that will mean that he worked last season for free.
Frankly, I'm worried that Upper Campus will take the $400k if JJ pays it back to the school. Look at how some of the Sugar Bowl money will be "re-allocated" to Upper Campus. My suggested compromise from weeks ago was for JJ to donate $400k to Na Koa...that way we know that it will go to support the team AND JJ will get a tax write-off.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
homey,
I'm not taking gigi's side on this, but I am trying to point out when things are factually wrong. The $4000 you are talking about NEVER GOT PAID to the contractors in your analogy.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
EXCELLENT IDEA, Garret!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
speaking of HF, Coach Nash was a comedian last night at the UH Men's bball banquet. if anyone of you were there, he had a couple of good one liners.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
I leave the details to the lawyers.
GO WARRIORS!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
XLiz - I mis-read your hypothetical situation. The sales rep should be able to keep the bonus and the company should either reimburse the customer or deliver the goods by an agreed upon time.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
I wish I had a lot of time right now, as I'd like to show the breakdown of the BCS dollars (I researched it before the Sugar Bowl and posted it to the old blog) and go over the penalty clause more. There are some precedents for penalty clauses and college football coaches.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Garret - it is not an analogy. I'm saying to gigi is if she paid someone $8000 and he only did half the job would she want $4000 back? That's all. Don't read too much into everything.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
gigi,
what local grindz test?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Garret - and I did say gigi paid $8000.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
chawan, the test was emailed to Tsaikos by Stretch.
We are hoping SteveM puts it on his website.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
homey, if I paid in full I would expect the entire job done.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
gigi - I know you would expect the job to be done, anyone would. You are not answering the $4000 question.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Why is stevem going to put the test on his website? I am just wondering...
Anywho... Homey, I would never pay some one half for only the half of work they did... The whole job was agreed upon and if they didn't do it then they didn't do the job period... Not related to the JJ caes of course...
JJ did get verbel permission from HF and his taunts made it even more binding for JJ to out there and get offers. no matter if JJ was the god-like football figure in the story... HF was turthfully his boss and much higher up the ladder.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
If the guy did 1/2 the job, I would expect to be refunded 1/2. If he refused, I would report him to the DLNR, BBB, and take him to court.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
However, I don't pay the full amount for a job. I usually pay in full AFTER the job is done. I have always done it that way.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
gigi - Thank you for your answer!
Hey Wreck - I know you have the strong arm connections so it wouldn't be a problem for you!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
stephen,
speaking of blog prizes.....
April 18th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Go to Buger King...
Order a Whopper...
Guy in the back only gives you the bun and maybe an onion (half the burger, no meat)...
Gigi, gladly pays half the price of the whopper and gets her money back for the half not in her burger...
Everyone's Happy
another example... Gigi, not worth it.. take the guy to court for the full amount...
April 18th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Wreck - What time you leaving to go KK?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Homey, I going call you to take care of the guy... yard and house... most likely filipino...
I am going to need "someone his own size to take care of him"
so i can't do it.. Make be pick a fight with the guy building the rock wall... LOL I wonder what kind of guy that might be... HAHA
April 18th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Did someone fut? Where did everyone go?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Wreck -
April 18th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Yah, I will be there tomorrow... Looking to kapu a stool behind the chairs for myself. Pupus in front of me, cooler at my feet and can see everybody...
April 18th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
oops... i meant
April 18th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Wreck! Look! XLiz is turning Exorcist on us!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
the yardboy analogy doesn't fit here. jj coached the whole season, not half.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Liz, you there tomorrow too?
Okay, okay... what about the guy climbing the tree to trim it?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
HA Breaking news:
University of Hawaii three-time All-American Kim Willoughby has been added to the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team, according to Team USA Head Coach "Jenny" Lang Ping.
With Willoughby, Hawaii now has five players who have a shot at making Olympics — Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, Heather Bown, Lindsey Berg, Therese Crawford and Willoughby.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
WJD.. I agree..
Tricky situation...
April 18th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Wreck - No, what time are you leaving your place of residence to go to the KK?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
WJD - read my #252 post.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
homey,
I was pretending to do some work lest gigi's hubby invite me in to his gulag for a session of "real work"
April 18th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
XLiz - Lindsey Berg didn't play for UH.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Wreck- yep. Comin in tomorrow. Trees??? Bwahahaha!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Ohh what time... Sorry I pulled a (place any name you want here)...
I am going to get koakane around 6 so we can make some rounds on getting the choice pupus from different places...
April 18th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
don't have to. we don't agree on the jj situation, lets leave it at that.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
hubby has a slave driver for a boss -- worse than Garret's!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
hmm- the story is by, er, Advertiser Staff
April 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
d1shima - hubby is Russian?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
The only thing I know/believe in is that the Chancellor MUST protect the interest of the school and all written agreements MUST be adhered to.
Working with vehicle loans every day I have seen and heard every sort of excuse/circustance that can be construed as "the exception" (i.e bankrupcy filings, customer passes away, etc...)
Regardless the agreement must be satisifed, and the University has to take a firm stance on this.
JJ "haters" or supporters have to find a common ground.
Coaches will come and go, the institution that we cheer for will always be here.
As Under Armour says: "PROTECT THIS HOUSE"
April 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
gigi - you slavedriver, you
April 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
btw, where's stretch?
Marketing Day?
Held against his will (yeh, right) on Kaua'i?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
i'll always respect jj as a coach and what he did for UH with nothing. we'll miss him.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
Gigi is that the same guy to take you guys out to dinner?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
"that"
April 18th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Liz, yep!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
kazz,
i hear where you're coming from, but i think he did fufill the contract and that's where the arguement is.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
WJD - you referred to the yardman and I just wanted to clarify things for you. Okay, I agree to disagree.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Wreck, hubby's boss is psycho (not Tsaiko)!
April 18th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
homey,
I don't think the KGB ever let a silly thing like nationality prevent them from "inviting" someone to a gulag.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
it's kind of a dead horse anyway and i'm sure some kind of deal will be made between the school and jj. but after hf got $300k to leave i just find it odd to go after jj.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
d1shima - you said it was his gulag so I just assumed that gigi's hubby was a stowaway Russian. I wonder if he is wanted for any war crimes?
April 18th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
gigi- I think Garret's boss is Lori
April 18th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
hey
where is brew808 and Rich2176 ???
April 18th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
XLiz - Aren't they on the mainland?
April 18th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
i know i asked yesterday, but who's going to the scrimmage tomorrow? will that be the gathering spot for the k-callers?
April 18th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
homey,
ask "Ferd"
April 18th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
:pidumpdump:
April 18th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Speaking of Ferd. Howcom we can't post comments to his articles?

Deep pockets with people in power positions will continue to make the rules on every matter and system in a capitalistic society.
Prime example is the growing wealth of China and when they start talking other nations have to start listening. Is China tasting the ideals of capitalism
Those who control the NCAA behind the scenes are not easy to push around. Money & Political connections.
Good luck to those 3 senators from Hawaii, Idaho and Georgia who are questioning the NCAA in regards to the BCS playoffs. Interesting Georgia, it must not be the money but the idea of being the champion and no less.
However would any school play in a championship game and give their piece of the financial take to another university such as UH?
Or would they rather play for the championship and receive an amount of money that all schools will share equally who participates in that sport?
Or play in the championship game and receive their $13 to $15 million?
Is having your cake and eating it too sounds like the answer?
April 18th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Liz,
I'm kinda afraid to think that there may be more and more ??? about "Where's so-and-so?" unless these tech issues stop immediately.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
chawan - Just look for sjmacro and myki.
The scrimmage will not be the gathering spot for the k-callers.

Haven't seen Pomai post as often. He's on dial-up so I can imagine he posted 2 days ago and the page is still loading.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
oh man... Pomai!
I shudder to think if my only connection was my Treo. Which, btw, I hope Stretch will get to connect to the blog successfully when he takes a look at it tomorrow.
Hang in there, Pomai!
April 18th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Did you see me in that video?
April 18th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
That video shows me with longer hair. It's short now.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Wreck -- please forward tomorrow's Karaoke Call info and my next message to Kama Krab (I don't have his email address).
About the "Local Grinds Test" -- I could put it up for download, but ownership and permission might be an issue here...I don't who made it. Without their permission I should not post it publicly. Sorry.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Steve... He got the message a long time ago... I have been Lurking...
I am looking forward to tomorrow...
April 18th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
JJ's contract:
Wonder what the terms are wherein it spells out the epxiration date of same; is it end of football season? or end of fiscal year? or a specific date such as 6/30/08?
UH had to pay HF the $300K because his contract said so; his termination was 90 days BEFORE the end of contract.
I, for one, do not consider $400K chump change; it can do a lot of improvements for the current football staff including recruiting budget.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
SteveM,
i just noticed now you linked to my youtube videos.... thanks! (i'm kinda slow... i don't know how long you've actually had it there).
April 18th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
xs-homey- are you in the video? I don't think I would recognize you since I only saw you once a loooong time ago. I see you in my mind now as a short (but taller than me) partially autistic savant chopstick.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Liz, I don't think homey attended that party.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
XLiz - I'm not in the video. Thanks for my description. At least it's not like how I picture Kazz.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
I agree, d1shima. As I have been saying for weeks...if you think the people who are here have problems, what about all the people who are not here? Can't count who is not here...unless I manually do that and subtract it from the 1,500 known local/mainland/international posters. No way to count the lurkers who are not here.
I suppose it is more obvious to me because I maintain a database of posters. It used to be a chore--sometimes 20+ new ones in a day. Usually 4-8 new ones a day. I have entered 14 new in the entire month of April so far. Since I recognize most names, I have noticed many less frequent posters not here since we shifted.
Of course the comment count is way down. Although today is past 300, try counting the number of different posters. I think Jason did a sample once--the number 80 (different posters) per blog entry sticks in my head.
April 18th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
ok xs- getting ready for dog-training time today?
Happy aloha Friday!
April 18th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
XLiz - yep, have a nice flight and c u 2morrow!
April 18th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
you mean we are going to bowl too?
April 18th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
1,500 posters is rounding off. Actual count on file is 1,499.
New Poster count (local only)
April 1-18, 2008 = 14
March 2008 = 144
February 2008 = 61
January 2008 = 342
December 2007 = 95
November 2007 = 196
October 2007 = 41
September 2007 = 84

April 18th, 2008 at 4:24 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
SteveM,

April 18th, 2008 at 4:26 pm

Sheesh, newbies!
April 18th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Al, good for you! Have fun. Hope you're not too tired from your day long volunteer efforts. I'll be at a writers conference all day and will be too tired to attend the K call. Maybe some other time.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
al- this will be my second Karaoke. There is no safer place to risk public singing than in the loving embrace of a room full of Tsai-kos.
Oh wait, and cameras, and videos, and tape recorders and YouTube... never mind.

okay its too late baby......
but for next year why don't they print tickets for the spring game. but give em away, first come first serve. so anybody gets a shot at the 50 yard line.
the first 30k gets a free printed ticket. anyone else gots to pay a $1 a ticket.
make sure that tshirts "2009 annual spring game" are printed in green or black. if your ticket is mauka you buy a green tshirt. if your ticket is makai you buy a black tshirt. get the picture?

April 18th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
I'm really curious about Robert Kekaula's singing voice. I hear he recorded some CDs.
Hope he makes it to the K call despite his son's injuries.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Al,
BRAVO!
April 18th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I'm really hoping I can convince prideperiod to sing "You'll Never Find a Love Like Mine" by Lou Rawls. Oh, and a reprise of "Whip Appeal."
Yoo hoo, prideperiod, you listening?
April 18th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
al- I think it's time you had lunch with a rep from the AD's marketing team.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Ahem! Attention, Tsaikos attending K-Call, please warm up your vocal chords with this chorus:
"We are family,

*Repeat ad infinitum.*

April 18th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
d1- do you know if they have Into the West at KK?
Das' one of my faves.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7nVVWDSFFhc
April 18th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Liz,
Not sure about that. Kinda "short" song, eh?
April 18th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
First time hearing Into the West video. Kind of too slow for me. I guess I prefer fox trot tunes made popular by Sinatra. Can't recall their titles right now, but back in the 1990s, hubby and I liked to dance to fox trot. He has excellent rhythm for dancing.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
If hubby ever goes to a K call, ask him to sing Moon River, our fave. He likes to play it on the clarinet too.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
d1,
You know I love those "Phantom" songs. But just to listen to — they're waaaaay outta my register to sing. They require Liz's soprano range, methinks. I'm actually an alto who's almost more comfortable singing ... tenor. Seriously.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
I also like the Phantom stuff
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_5zG-lSX7Sk&feature=related
April 18th, 2008 at 5:36 pm

gigi,
I have that Phantom DVD.
Emma Rossum is good but I think I prefer Sarah Brightman.
They are staging it in Vegas now, you know?
April 18th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
wow, D1, Frankie can sure sing The Way You Look Tonight. It's time I bought more Sinatra CDs!
April 18th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
gigi- I saw Phantom at Blaisdell too.... WOWOW! That was fantastic!
OK, Esme- I can sing low register stuff too.
And Karen Carpenter stuff is good - Billy Joel is great -
April 18th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
I LOVE Broadway stuff, actually: "Rent," "Phantom," "Miss Saigon," "Godspell" and others all have been played constantly and cherished over here.
But sadly, I haven't the polished voice to sing them decently.
So Liz, to answer your questions the other day: At karaoke, it's mainly rock and pop for me.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
sorry,
that was Liz who posted Phantom link.
haha, phantom link
April 18th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
I love Sarah Brightman! Have her CD.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
ya, d1- people get Esme and me mixed up all the time... of course, you have to think of me around 20 years ago!
April 18th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
d1, yes, love Karen Carpenter! Oh, don't get me started — I can sing Carpenters all night.

Whoops, sorry, forgot to ask this question: I know the K-Call is supposed to be BYOfood ... but is everyone really just bringing their own, or does everyone tend to bring to share? If the latter is correct, what y'all bringing? I'll check later for answers.
Thanks. Gotta go iron my junior prom dress now.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:52 pm

Robert Kekaula and his lovely girlfriend will be joining us for K-Call.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know they're not on the original roster. But I'm sure we can make room. How much space can he take up?

April 18th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Kekaula is a fantastic singer.
Back in the day, BWB (Before Warrior Beat), we used to have Tizer/KITV karaoke nights. Kekaula, Rob Fukuzaki and Kathy Muneno used to join us. Rob can really sing.
April 18th, 2008 at 6:46 pm

I can't imagine spending time with my daughter and calling it "babysitting". That would be like going to a movie with a friend and calling it "friendsitting".
Anyway, I also can't imagine starting the game in Florida without Graunke as QB. As much as I like Funaki, the win in Nevada and the positive performance in the Sugar Bowl ensures that Graunke will be running the show at the Swamp. Followed however with some very close competition that may win out by the end of the year.
April 18th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
The order of UH draftees being taken this coming weekend:
Ryan
Colt
Hercules
Jason
Davone
April 18th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
The Philadelphia Eagles might be interested in Colt
"There are those out there who say Andy Reid really likes Hawaii's Colt Brennan, who could be a late-round pick."
April 18th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
NYUH, you mean the 26th for the draft...
I, too, prefer Graunke to Funaki.

April 18th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
al,
There's hardly a one that I would throw out of that bunch.
April 18th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I think it's:
Brennan
Bess
Rivers
Grice-Mullins
----
Satele, Purcell, Hawthorne, Keomaka as Sunday free agents.
April 18th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
but, d1 they are too old for us.....

April 18th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
I guess its better to use last names
Grice-Mullins
Brennan
Satele
Rivers
Bess
I could go easily with Brennan but I think that Grice-Mullins has always been under-rated. Rivers is awesome too.
April 18th, 2008 at 8:10 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Was there a comment earlier about some videos coming soon?
April 18th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
My guess for draft:
Brennan
Bess
Grice-Mullins
Rivers
I agree with the Sunday free agent list, with Satele offered by Miami (among many other teams, he also is a possible late round pick) and Keomaka by Oakland. Patek will be invited to an NFL camp. A couple of others will get NFL camp invites or CFL shots.
April 18th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I say Brennan, Bess, RGM, and then Rivers. I think a few guys will get FA shots, but the chances of sticking around and making a practice squad is small for many of the FA-type guys. It's a really deep draft this year in many positions.
I sing bass, except I have trouble with the higher part of the register. I just tried singing "Do-Re-Mi" (from The Sound of Music), and I had to change it to key of F cause I couldn't hit C4.
SteveM: There's an e-mail address where you can e-mail the author of the Local Grindz quiz. Maybe if you e-mail her, she can give you permission to host the test for the Tsaikos (or point you toward a Web site that already hosts it).
April 18th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Princess,
I just got to see the Warriors Linemen Face Off video--thank you again for an excellent job! It was nice to hear from the participants how the OL is coming together.
April 18th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
With the way that RGM performed at the combine and Pro Day, I think he's helped his draft chances the most of the Warriors. The NFL guys knew about Colt, Bess, and Rivers (especially after the 2006 Hawaii Bowl), but RGM might have been overlooked by the NFL scouts a little...especially because they might have thought that he was going to return for his senior year.
RGM has done such a good job, especially with his 40 times, that I had to put him ahead of Rivers. That is nothing negative about Rivers, but RGM posted great times and the NFL guys rely on that. If there was one more opportunity for RGM to compare himself directly with some of the higher-ranked WRs, I think that he would shoot up even further in the draft.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
D1shima, Koakane, Wreck, Homey, et al ~
SteveM asked if we could combine ice chests in order to save a little space at the club. I told him I could accomodate a large amount of items in my 90 cube chest. So upon arrival, you may park your "mini-keg" inside, Koakane. The rest of the Tsaiko Screamers can stash your stuff in there as well.
I would imagine the pupu platter will be kept quite full with exotic morsels of local grindz, so any items that need to be kept cold may also be kept in the cooler. I shall be happy to be your friendly adult beverage distributer/barkeep and pu-pu-p-doo person of the night
Steve, do "they" supply paper products such as the plates & homey hashi's? What else should we bring to make nice?
Also, can you post information for those who need to be reminded of the time to be there, and directions or parking instructions. I think DPK asked earlier today for someone to send up a parachute flare to mark the spot.
Mahalo,
Kekoa

AL:
Did you manage The Point After?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Al,
I'm just glad that I posted before Jason. I do agree with Jason that it is hard to stick as an undrafted free agent, but I believe that Hercules will either be drafted or be on a roster all year as an undrafted free agent. The key for him is to pick a team that will give him the best opportunity to stick and to have a shot at playing time. Miami is very thin at guard, which is why I mentioned them...but he'll probably get a ton of offers if he isn't drafted.
For the other undrafted Warriors, choosing the right team is the key. Getting on a team that is too deep at a position or has too many young players (recent draft picks) who have guaranteed spots on the practice squad will significantly reduce any player's chances. I know that they will work hard and give it their all, but the numbers game can end a career before it gets started.
That even holds true for the drafted players--if Nate had been drafted by many other teams he would have had a good shot at staying on their roster all season. However, Philly drafted him because they had one RB coming off an injury and wasn't sure if the guy they drafted high would be suited for the power back role. When the vet RB came back strong from his injury and the higher drafted rookie established himself, they had no spot for Nate and it was too late for him to get a real shot at playing time with another team.
Okay, now I'm really going to have to get back to work or my boss will kill me.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Good Evening
I read ST article today. And what caught my attention are the results of last weeks H.S football combine. A name that I'm not familiar with-Kawahi Sablan (Castle H.S) had some excellent numbers-40 time 4.6 / verticle jump 42'5" giving him the highest point total for the event. So I go and checked to see whom this player is and wanted to check his personals but the web site I went on took for ever so I gave up trying to find more info about who this player is. I checked to see if he was on 2009 rivals list and he wasn't.And last years Advertiser All State team didn't show anything either.
But with these kind of numbers it will be interesting to see if it catches any recruiter's attention.
Compared to what we had in our days, the kids now a days have the testing to compare themselves against their peers. And to use these numbers to better themselves. And to improve upon them for the up incoming football season.Back in the old days, for me,especially the last year of H.S, it was basically showing up for practice without doing any running or lifting over the summer.Todays kids I'm happy to see that they have all these tools and camps to better themselves.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
garret no murder on the blog please. this is a family place.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
tom.....no not the point after, but, i did frequent that place quite often.....too often.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Al ~
I would hope that these kids have got adult supervision to help them sign on with the right team. Isn't the job of their agent to look at current rosters, and figure his chances for "making" the team and then advise him of his best option?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Kekoa, SteveM E-mail said that Stretch would provide plates, napkins and utensils, but neva hurt to bring extra.

Garret: I don't think Herc will be drafted, but you never know. It is one of the weakest drafts for offensive guards in recent memory, and so who knows what will happen in the late rounds. It does take just one team to like you — look at Reagan Mauia and Melila Purcell, I never thought those two would get drafted.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
I am praying that all of our boys will end up with the right teams at the right times.

April 18th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
jes made me some sapporo ichiban.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
gg.....legend has it that james was in a terrible car crash year's ago. 35% of his bones were broken and had to be replaced with metal. thus, james is the tin man.
some of it is his skull. if you notice that his head tilts to the left a bit. its because of the weight on that side of his head. surgeons did as good a job as possible but there is some increased pressure on his cranium. thus, at times he slurs.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
good try, Al.
For the best harmony, I like the Beach Boys of long ago.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:25 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
I not going touch that one....
on so many different levels!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
I think we should sing "We Are the Champions".
April 18th, 2008 at 11:42 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Al, the Beach Boys sound good on their CDs.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
gigi - The remaining brothers Gibb should remain separate.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
d1- wow, you pickin on a poor, afflicted, suffering Tsai-ko. Hi, my name is Liz and I'm addicted to mangoes (scratch, scratch)...
April 18th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
They sound pretty good on the sand, too!
even In My Room!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
They've already said they retired the Bee Gees name. There was talk after Maurice's death that they would continue, just the two of them, but that never materialized.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Time after time...
April 18th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
ditto what I said b4!
April 18th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
am I the only one who is noticing that when I refresh the page - posts appear that were made earlier than mine but weren't there before?
April 18th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
I'm still trying to get around the fact that gigi knows someone in the musical world not named Beethoven or Bach.
Or maybe she only knows the artists that start with B. So Beach Boys and Bee Gees would count.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
Hey D1, what's in your drink??? You're on a roll tonight. (joke-wise)
April 18th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Hey,
I wonder if Stretch made it back on the last plane?
April 18th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
What's this, homey is going to sing Cyndi Lauper songs? I'd expect him to sing She Bop.
(Never did get the real meaning of that song until I happened to read about it on Wikipedia one day.)
April 18th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
XLiz - I noticed something but I'm just an autistic savant.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Liz,
Must be the mangoes!

i went to the neighbors and shouted, help me rhonda help me get her out of my life. but all she wanted to do was ride my little deuce coupe. i told her don't worry baby we'll have fun, fun, fun.
she said i get around i'm a california girl. with that she sailed away on her sloop john b.

April 19th, 2008 at 12:22 am
Okey Dokey
Nitey nite and sweet sounding dreams of tonight to come!
April 19th, 2008 at 12:22 am
kekoa.....still early brah.
back to football.
i think that the timing was right to make some household adjustments to the offense. sure we were top dogs in that dept. but, i did notice, that teams were starting to implement different coverages and disguised coverages well enough that at time we had carburetor trouble.
got to remember that a lot mileage came off the d2's and lower ranked wac. i believe this new run n shoot will cause enough havoc that we will have some nice success.
the defense has really stepped up. certainly mack has a lot to do with it, but, we have some nice players these days. i always like the local boys on d. no one else plays fearless like they do and they play with pain as well inflict it too.
it will be a great change.
April 19th, 2008 at 12:23 am
End of a krazy day today and the begining of a new Kraze on the 'morrow. The Pomaiester is still missing in action (?)

What I really like about this year's edition is the depth, and the hunger fueled by last years success. Tremendous boost to the whole team!

April 19th, 2008 at 12:30 am
well its lights out for me.
have a safe weekend.
......walk in the footprints.
April 19th, 2008 at 12:36 am
The expansion of the use of Pilares coupled with Libre, Jackson, et al - will also crank up an anemic running game that was badly needed last year to take the pressure off of Colt.
Sometimes I felt as if JJ did it to showcase Colt as an unstoppable gunslinger to prove to people that his spread was better then all others. It cost him that head banger, and a brutal beating in the SB.
One final g'night all!
April 19th, 2008 at 1:38 am
SteveM, Peaches, A-sports, UHfan808 and braddah Stretch-

April 19th, 2008 at 6:31 am
IT"S SATURDAY!!!
Well, the beeg day is here.
Hooooooo, lots going on. Coaches' clinic; baseball doubleheader; massively anticipated Karaoke Call....
Should be ample opportunities for reams of video.
Speaking of which, I guess the previously promised video from the mini-Pro Day may not have been so compelling given the limited activity that was requested by Mack.
"Pencils Up!"
"5-09-2!"
"11 inches"
"187-5!"
I guess that would sum up the audio portion, eh?
April 19th, 2008 at 6:37 am
Checked out the pics of Jr. Pro Day.
Seem like my assessment of the audio portion would be about right.
No beeg wuf!
April 19th, 2008 at 6:38 am

April 19th, 2008 at 7:08 am
Good Morning
Well the wife and I spent the early morning hours talking football. And other noteworthy, important topics. And we talked about the draft.Like always I just listen. She likes Grice-Mullens.I like Satele. We both like Hillary.Hate Lingle.Like the new football coach thinking that in the long run he will be a cut above the rest.Don't like how the KGMB sportscaster always referred to Coach Jones as JJ thinking that was crude. And differ on boycotting the Olympics. She uses the logic that it's best not to rile or instigate any provocation. I'm the complete opposite:I say total boycott thinking that our country is in turmoil in the Middle East, and out of respect to human right issues and the war in Iraq we shouldn't go.She go on to say it's better to keep your enemies(potentially China)close to you logic...blah,blah...when asked about the oil prices she goes on with another long winded answer. And I smile. And elbow her.
By now it's about four in the morning.I hear the chickens outside. And I think it's great to wake some morning talking story. And arguing and debating. And often times I share with her what I gather from the Tsaikos. Anyway everyone have a good day.And good time with the karaoke tonight.
April 19th, 2008 at 7:12 am

April 19th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Brennan will be the perfect fit for the Bucs and Gruden's offense, with the perfect time (one or two years) to groom him. Don't be surprised to hear Brennan's name called when the Bucs pick in the third round...just remember where you heard it first!
April 19th, 2008 at 7:38 am
K.
Tried licking his face fo' wake him up but he mumbled sumtin' about, "Liz and homey need more time."
Den he rolled over and wen' back 2 sleep.
Wasssupwidat???
April 19th, 2008 at 7:42 am
mmm. sounds like a three dog night
April 19th, 2008 at 7:43 am
BWAHAHAHAA!!!
April 19th, 2008 at 7:46 am
A quarterback to keep an eye on is Hawaii's Colt Brennan. The Patriots are said to really like the all-time leading passer in Division I history and he should be around in the late rounds due to a poor performance at the Senior Bowl. Brennan also has the stigma of playing in a pass-happy, shotgun offense in college but he's known for his intelligence and accuracy. With proper coaching, Brennan could be groomed to be a solid NFL backup, something New England sorely lacks at the moment.
April 19th, 2008 at 7:47 am
-- 2. Florida (3.75): Hawaii (4), Miami (5), The Citadel (1), Florida State (5). In past years, this schedule would be next to impossible. However, hard times have arrived at FSU and Miami, and Hawaii will be noticeably limping without quarterback Colt Brennan and departed coach June Jones.
HAH! Limp this!
April 19th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Gunfunnit!
Get back in yo' pen! *^&%$ dog!
Nice find, Liz.
Actually still thinkin' that Martz will be able to do good things for/with Colt in the Bay area. (can't think of what they calling their stadium today)
April 19th, 2008 at 7:55 am
After doing a little research, I found something absolutely amazing. Different mock drafts have every team picking Brennan somewhere in the third to sixth rounds.
it seems 20 of the 32 teams in the NFL has their team selecting Brennan in some round of mock draft, but nobody seems to say that they want to take him. Fans don't want him, scouts say they don't think he will pan out, yet all these teams are being speculated as teams of interest who have them in a draft mock up.
Some of these teams include the Patriots, Eagles, Redskins, Jaguars, Bears, Packers, 49ers, Seahawks, Saints, Panthers, and a host of others. So don't be surprised to hear on Sunday morning that your team just picked Colt Brennan. Unbelievable!
April 19th, 2008 at 7:56 am
I mean Martz does have a history of takin' an accurate QB that no one else wanted to the SB (not the Sugar Bowl)
April 19th, 2008 at 7:56 am
That was the same article as 617 but I like the quotes!
April 19th, 2008 at 7:59 am
d1- I agree. I saw great interest in Martz's face as he worked with Colt.
So how come no one mentions that Colt's earpiece was not working during the Sr. Bowl and he was not able to hear the plays coming in?
Where did that cute hound dog go?
April 19th, 2008 at 8:02 am
Liz,
I think I heard the announcers mention that during the game.
Purgatory.
April 19th, 2008 at 8:07 am

have a good saturday everyone!
April 19th, 2008 at 8:46 am
ralvic, boycotting the Olympics will not hurt China, it will hurt the one who matters the most, the athletes. The games is not about philosophy or trying to impart your morals, but it is a game where the athletes of the world gather to determine who is the best that day or time. We boycotted the games in Russia and to this day, there are many american athletes who are very bitter about the decision. I know first hand as I was the host for the US swimming team when they were on Maui prior to the games. This trip was to reward them for their hard work.

ok- hi ho, time to get packed up for rehearsal and the KKall!
have a wonderful day, ka kou!
April 19th, 2008 at 9:34 am
hmmmm.
whitey,
now that you put it into this perspective i have changed my opinion of the boycott. i never viewed it as such, from the athletes point of view, that is.
i was concerned for the safety of the athletes but, i don't think china would take such a black eye by risking violence to any participants or spectators during the event.
mahalo once again to the real mayor of maui!

April 19th, 2008 at 10:01 am
mayor whitey,
Right on braddah! I support Tibet, but I don't think the Olympics should be affected because of that. To those who attack the torch bearers, I say, why not simply have a peaceful world wide protest unrealated to the torches? They had enough Tibet backers to do so. They need to remember that when they attack the torch bearers, they are attacking the olympics. Keep the two issues seperate.

Morning, Tsaikos and Tsai-Meister.
It's very nice to see the blog back up to speed. All doors to here seem to be open now. Could it be that everything is finally fixed. Over 600, just like old times.
Re: Brennan, I would bet even money that Colt will be drafted first day, to everyones surprise. The people who know their business know very well what he's made of. He had a lot of buzz, everytime real scouts where around and you don't get that kind of buzz if you're just a marginal player, like the pundits like to repeat over and over.
And why are the pundits so busy putting down Colt? If he's so bad, why all the fuzz?
