Hawthorne to join Falcons

May 1st, 2008
By Stephen Tsai

The final member of  the Fab Five will sign an NFL contract.
Wideout C.J. Hawthorne has reached an agreemen on a free-agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
He will report to their minicamp May 8.
Hawthorne said he will compete as a wide receiver and special-teams player.
"I've got an opportunity," Hawthorne said. "I'll make the best of it. If it's God's will, it'll be OK."
Quarterback Colt Brennan was drafted by the Washington Redskins, and receivers Davone Bess (Miami Dolphins), Ryan Grice-Mullins (Houston Texans) and wideout Jason Rivers (TennesseeTitans) signed free-agent deals.

The previous athletic department's management problems claimed another: Kitty Lagareta.
Lagareta was a vocal supporter of the previous AD. When she served as Board of Regents chair, without questions, she approved the previous AD's budgets. When it was clear that the cumulative deficit was spinning out of control, she praised his management and leadership.
Here's a story from The Tizer's breaking news:
Advertiser Staff
The state Senate voted 16-9 today against confirming communications executive Kitty Lagareta to another term on the University of Hawai'i Board of Regents.
Lagareta, a friend and former political adviser to Gov. Linda Lingle, has served on the board since 2003. She has served as board chair and vice chair.

I was doing some spring cleaning, and found some notes, from December 2006, when Colt Brennan was debating whether to stay or go.
• "One more year gets (the critics) one more year to criticize. ... Everyone is going to expect you to throw 58 touchdowns. Everybody is going to expect you to do better than you did this year. I guess that's the argument to leave. That's what I have to take into account."
• "The positives (to staying) are more experience. ... Right now the team is in a great state. It's going to have a lot of momentum going into next season. ... The notoriety and attention will already be there for Hawai‘i instead of having to go out and earn it like we did this year. There are just a lot of positives to stay, a lot of positives. ... You get your degree. ... You (can) be with your friends. ... I've been talking to guys, and they say: 'You'll always remember that time you went to Boise State or played Michigan State or SC. You'll always remember those games. Once you go into the NFL, games are games. They come and go. It's all about getting to the Super Bow. (In) college, your bowl is to win every game. Every game is important and memorable. Pro football, I hear, is awesome to play. There's nothing better. But it's also a business, whereas college football is kind of the last time where you have that tradition and heritage and all of that kind of stuff, and you're young, and you're with your friends. It's a different experience."

Remember Lucious Henderson? He is enrolling at UH — University of Houston. He was another one-time UH recruit who got lost in the changeover.

* * *

Remember Will Brogan? He is now the quarterback of Division II California University of Pennsylvania. Great guy, great attitude. Glad he found a place where he could receive a scholarship.

Today's birthday shout-out is to the lovely and witty Lori Figueroa, a first-class worker in the travel industry.

    Colt "The Prophet" Brennan....

  3. Kamali'o:

Oh, 1st! Everyone must be at lunch - pays to lurk.

  4. WarriorMojo:

I love Colt. Colt Brennan = Class Act.

  5. ewa girl:

    awesome

  6. WarriorMojo:

Yo, that's two Top Ten appearances in a row for me. Whadda I win?

  7. Hawaiiroller:

    Hey Stephen,

Just wondering about something. When Colt graduated in December he fulfilled his probation requirements, right?

If so, then was he really free to forego his senior season?

How would it work with his probation officer?

  8. Hawaiiroller:

Colt has been assigned #5 by Washington.

Mojo, my second top 10 also. :)

  9. Pomai:

    ST check your email

  10. Stephen Tsai:

He probably would be on probation. It was a four-year probation, but he got an early release because of his graduation.

  11. gigi-hawaii ©:

"One more year for the critics to criticize!" How prophetic Colt was. He KNEW what he was getting into.

  12. Stephen Tsai:

    Pomai:
    Okie dokie.

  13. Stephen Tsai:

By the way, as you can see above, we have a contest going on today.

  14. Ronnie:

I wonder if the blog will slow down at around the 140th post...

  15. gigi-hawaii ©:

    What size is the Tshirt?

  16. LizKauai [Believer]:

    Thanks for the read, ST!
    Bravo, Colt.
I love the way you let yourself grow up in a way to enjoy the special times of college and youth and not just dive headlong into the responsibilities and pressures of professional adulthood!

You have your degree, yet your education is a neverending process!

  17. LizKauai [Believer]:

gigi- gotta be L or XL - that stands for, well you know what happened last contest...
    Bwahahaha!

  18. gigi-hawaii ©:

    but hubby wears a XXL.

And I don't wear Tshirts so I would want to win it for him.

  19. Garret:

I have lots of other quotes from Colt archived to my blog from the time when Colt decided to stay at UH...looking back, he really did predict the team's success and his critic's reactions to his draft status.

  20. Garret:

    Article on Colt from KHNL.

"Oh my gosh. This guy really had an industrious career, to say the least," said Jim Zorn, Redskins head coach. "And so, if he can transfer what he did there, and learn how to be efficient the way I want to be efficient, I think he can be successful at this level as well."

What also made Colt attractive -- the stuff you can't put into numbers.

"I think he's got some leadership skills, I think he's got some talent to move around," said Zorn.

"The main thing is, at the end of the day, I went to the team that I really wanted to go to," said Brennan. "And I'm really excited about the situation."

"Just to hear them say they wanna bring me in and develop me and really give me some time to prove myself, is really all I can ask for, is the opportunity and they did that, and I feel very grateful for the opportunity, and I can't wait to get out there and get started," Colt said.

Colt starts Rookie Mini Camp on Friday.

By the way, Redskins coach Jim Zorn was previously quarterbacks coach at Seattle, where he coached Matt Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck started in a Super Bowl and is a three-time Pro Bowler.

And he -- just like Colt -- was drafted in the 6th round.

  21. gigi-hawaii ©:

On the L&L show, Ron Lee spoke about Colt's CHARISMA and LEADERSHIP -- the intangibles that made him a superb QB.

He couldn't believe Colt was drafted so low.

  22. Rob25:

Good Morning Tsaikos! Hey Ronnie...thought I should check in since I told you that I had been neglecting the blog. It already "lost" my post and now I have to re-type.

Liz...are you coming with Ronnie and me to the Fresno game? You don't have to be scared...we won't embarass you...OK...we might...but that's what friends are for!

WarriorMojo...first I agree with you opinion about Colt...second, did you ever get a chance to make the Boise DVD for me...just wondering.

    Have a great day!

  23. Garret:

USA Today says that Tebow might be able to win the Heisman again this season.

Florida Gators fans hoping for a much improved running game left the spring game a bit more confident after Chris Rainey ran for 75 yards and a touchdown and added a 65-yard scoring reception. Southern California transfer Emmanuel Moody rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown. If Rainey and Moody can lighten the rushing load on quarterback Tim Tebow, the junior should be a favorite to win an another Heisman Trophy.

  24. PONO:

I hope Soares knocks Tebow out on the first play of the game. Put Tebow on the shelf for the 08 season.

  25. LizKauai [Believer]:

Rob25- depends where I can find the best chance standby flight on HA to California. I "plan" to hang with you guys on the ride up if it works out!

Garret- Well, I am a homer and eternal optimist so I take a "we'll see" attitude about Heisman hopefuls after we go T-bowling in August!
    Bwahahaha!

  26. FloridaTed:

    Hi, Tsaikos and Tsai-Meister.

Very good reminder of what kind of mature and smart person Colt has become. We all have seen him grow up right in front of our eyes. We will be proud of him for many years to come, regardless of how his FB career turns out, but even there I don't have any worries, he will succeed. I love the situation he found himself in very much.

  27. Hawaiiroller:

Thanks for the info Stephen. I'll thank you again later....around post #150. :D

  28. FloridaTed:

    Pono,

    Beware of bachi.

  29. Rob25:

Liz...yeah, I'm waiting and hoping that the fares will drop a little. I already watched them jump up $86 in a week. Guess I have to be patient.

Hey Ronnie...we may need to rent a bus or van. Can't live your little angels at home...

  30. Rob25:

Oops..I meant can't leave your little angels at home.

  31. Ronnie:

Hi Rob! You may be right about the van! Hmmm... we could get a really big "H" logo magnet and put it on the side of the van. That would be cool! :)

  45. Da Punchbowl Kid:

  47. Garret:

    PONO,

I actually don't want Tebow shelved for the whole season...but I would love if the D knocked him out of the game. Florida has a big question mark at backup QB, and none of their backup QB candidates was able to grab the job in the Spring.

It actually benefits UH if Florida wins every other game they play after UH beats them. The better Florida does, the better UH looks!

  48. Garret:

    BigWave,

Thank you for the info on Will. I think I saw a mention of him (maybe from Coach Ken?) on SportsHawaii awhile back.

  49. Da Punchbowl Kid:

Number 44 is not me. I've repented, I 've changed. I'm really sorry for lying earlier. Can you all ever forgive me?

  50. Garret:

I unfortunately have to get back to work now and then Faith has soccer practice. So, no shot at the t-shirt I guess...

  51. Da Punchbowl Kid:

LoL at BigWave! Hey, how did AZ Western do this last season?

  52. Kamali'o:

Hi Stephen and Tsaikos: Your notes are so poignant and it's evidence of Colt's emotional maturity. Been reading the Redskin blogs to see what they're saying about our boy. Some fans really excited, some kind of not so nice. I hope Colt knows that his ohana has followed him in spirit, if not in the flesh, and always will wherever he goes. Looking forward to the Jets/'Skins game in August and the G'ints/'Skins games, hoping to see him ini the preseason at least. Sadly, have to watch on tv. Someone has to die before you can get your hands on tickets.

  53. GRM:

Colt will be alright in the pros. I believe he will develop unde Zorn and the Redskins. Go for it Colt!

Colt totally knew what he was getting into with the senior season. He sacrificed a lot, but he also got so many "intangibles" that no one can ever take away from him. He's lived the dream so far, and the extra year may even have been best for his pro prospects, if not the upfront $$.

Our cheerleaders are REALLY UNDER-RATED and UNDER-APPRECIATED.

I believe they always tend to finish in the top ten every year at nationals and their routines have received praise as what they attempt is always in synch and is often difficult.

    http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=406907

.. That leaves only the passing game due for an overhaul, and what an overhaul it is -- a vast change of pace from fired assistant Al Saunders' infamous 700-page play book to the simpler West Coast offense.

"It's not one of those huge ones like we had before," Hixon said of the new play book. "It's going to be scaled down quite a bit."

Zorn said one of the biggest challenges -- beyond acclimating rookies such as draft picks Devin Thomas, Fred Davis and Malcolm Kelly -- will be getting his players to execute the offense at the speed at which it's meant to be played.

"I'm looking for playing fast," Zorn said. "I think that'll be the most difficult thing as we go along. People will know, 'I'm supposed to be over there; I'm going to get there.' It's how fast. This offense is played at a very good pace."

Zorn said he doesn't expect any jitters Friday. Those might come in September, when there are games to be played that count in the standings.

"I'm not nervous. It'll really be just more excitement," said Zorn, who plans to spend most of his time during practice tutoring Campbell and the other quarterbacks. "I have veteran coaches. It's not like I've come to a staff of rookie coaches who don't know what they're doing. ... I'm letting the coaches coach their positions."

  127. BG:

Good to be back in the islands!!! Tried to keep up with the blog, but it was hit and miss...nothing like being HOME...

Touched down at 0330 (3am) and got home just before 5am. Crawled into bed and crashed after 10 hr flight with Betty having a touch of food poisoning. Had gotten up before dawn for 6:40am appt at air terminal, but that was pushed back to 10:40 after being delayed already from previous afternoon. I'll post more later (after 9pm since it's not football related).

After checking Redskin sites, I firmly believe that Colt will light it up there...perfect situation for him. Time may prove me wrong, but I believe that corollary 13b of the Tsaiko manifesto says that we are allowed to be irrationally positive in our Warrior and post-Warrior support. ALOHA!

fishing is a sport so......i am watching this video of some local guys who went on a fishing expedition. it was dated mar 12 05. they were catching a boat load of fish, you name it they landed it. mahi, ahi, aku, ono, all of em.

but, the thing that got me most was at the beginning of the show the oldest guy with the huge beer belly and santa claus hairdo is seen "throwing net". they flash to his catch of o'ama by the hundreds. yes o'ama, baby goatfish. they were all caught with illegal "eye" throw nets. busted.

but i was more disgusted at that scene. no wonder the people of hawai'i no can catch o'ama anymore!!!!

    auwe!

  132. midori7:

ok...I'll help you guys get closer to #150.

    my good deed for today...

More reasons to support a local boy doing good in the restaurant business.

BTW, they fillmed a lot of the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" at Fred's restaurant.

I was there a few weeks ago and E! and some other Hollywood crew were interviewing stars of the movie at the restaurant.

I'm so out of it, I didn't recognized any of them. Fred was telling me their names and I said for the last 4 years I only watch Keiki kine movies with my sons.

Brigham Young carries a 10-game winning streak into the season, and if the Cougars keep winning, they might be in position to follow Utah, Boise State and Hawaii and secure an automatic berth in a BCS game. The Cougars have four players on the preseason watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award: DE Jan Jorgensen, TE Dennis Pitta and OLs Ray Feinga and Dallas Reynolds. …Hawaii lost not only coach June Jones and QB Colt Brennan, but the Warriors need to replace six defensive starters and seven on offense, including almost all of their skill players, from last year's Sugar Bowl team. New coach Greg McMackin's team opens at Florida.

here's one of my favorite movie quotes:

`Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?', Alice asked,
`That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
`I don't much care where--' said Alice.
`Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.
`--so long as I get somewhere,' Alice added as an explanation.
`Oh, you're sure to do that,' said the Cat, `if you only walk long enough.'

And the best part about Colt going to the Skins... nobody talks smack like a Redskins fan!

I have the worst writer's block today. I've tried all of the tricks, nothing is shaking loose.

  230. homey ®:

    DPK -

David Cook is the most versatile. He takes songs to another level,

Archuleta can sing and has the "cuteness" so he may get all those teeny booper and gigi votes.

Jason Castro is like a Davey Jones...

    Syesha - okay but forgettable.

If I was to buy a CD from the above 4 it would be Cook.

  231. gigi-hawaii ©:

David Archuleta has a beautiful voice. What talent! Only thing wrong with him is he's short (per hubby). Will he wow the ladies if he is the Idol? I really don't care how short he is. I love his voice.

  239. FloridaTed:

What was the winning number again? 1,500? Still got chance.

    American Idol:
David Cook is by far the most polished and interesting performer of them all.

BYU, Utah, TCU, Fresno, Boise will all have at least one loss, only Hawaii has a chance to pull out the miracle. I'm not a homey, ah, Homer, lol.

  240. homey ®:

FT - Plus David Cook plays guitar as a "lefty"!

RE: Fresno State as 2008 BCS Buster.

No doubt it would be a good "three-peat" for the WAC and $$$$ are needed on our end as always, BUT...

I have my reasons and as they say: "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all".

  244. WreckinEyez:

I would have bought a CD from Micheal Johns too... I hope David Cook wins... in the end he will sell more CDs than the other guys still in the competition...

SENATE REJECTS KITTY LAGARETA REAPPOINTMENT TO UH BOARD OF REGENTS

    Link:
    http://pacific.bizjournals.com/pacific/stories/2008/04/28/daily62.html?jst=b_ln_hl

They rejected Lagareta's reappointment by a 16-9 vote.

She was the only current regent up for reappointment.

Lagareta, CEO of the public relations and advertising firm Communications Pacific, served as a regent since Lingle named her to the board in 2003. She was vice-chairwoman from 2003 to 2005 and chairwoman for the past two years.

Lagareta is a close friend of Lingle and was an advisor to her in her 1998 and 2002 campaigns for governor.

In a confirmation hearing Thursday afternoon, Sen. Norman Sakamoto, chairman of the Senate Education Committee, expressed concern about Lagareta's performance as a regent.

Sakamoto, D-Moanalua-Salt Lake, cited his disappointment with how the regents handled the firing of UH president Evan Dobelle in 2004, critical state audit findings and the $351 million backlog of maintenance repairs at the university. He also brought up the board's past violations of the state's open records laws, the performance of former Athletic Director Herman Frazier and the departure of UH football coach June Jones early this year.

"These concerns put together lead me ... to feel that this nominee is not qualified to be reappointed," Sakamoto said.

  255. Kekoa:

Inspirational Story of the Month ~

Female small college softball player for Oregon team hits a game winning 3 run homer, her first EVER. She rounds first base doing her home run trot, misses the bag, blows out her knee by turning too quickly, and crawls painfully back to first base.

By now she is crying crockodile tears, and can't even stand up because of the pain. The ruling is, if she is replaced by a pinch runner, her homer becomes a single, and only the 2 runners that were on at the time will be able to score. Not a real problem, because her team will still win the game by one run.

Her team wants her to have full credit for her once-in-a-lifetime homer, but if they help her around the bases, she will be called out by the umpire.

    TO BE CONTINUED.....not!

Here's what happened. The gal that plays 1st base for the Washington team has her hook her arm around her neck. The girl playing short stop supports the other side and they ask the ump if it's ok if they take her around all the bases to complete the circuit...he says, "there's no rule that says you can't."

When they get to Home plate, everyone is cheering for the losing team for showing genuine, unselfish sportswomanship. Enough tears to fill a swimming pool...game over. Can I get an Amen brothers and sisters of the Tsaiko Nation?!

  256. wafan:

Sorry, all. I do not even know the woman. But any friend of Hermie is no friend of ours. And, that, makes her fair game. Or fairly gamey, as the case may be.

  257. Kekoa:

wafan - Can they administer corporal punishment with that rejection? There are some things that were used in the middle ages that have a lasting effect on one's character when it comes to matters such as this.

  258. Kekoa:

...not to mentioned future applicants to the BOR!

  259. Kazz:

    Kekoa,

    A-M-E-N!!!

BTW I think SportsCenter covered this last night and I believe Brew posted something regarding a "softball" story... Not sure if this was the same one or another one.

  260. Stephen Tsai:

    Koauka:
No, it was literally that WAC stood for Western Athletic Conference.
She actually told that story right before accepting HF's budget.
We're all staring at each other, going: "Un-bee-leeve-uh-ble."

  261. Kazz:

    Kekoa,

I Googled some articles on this and the story is spreading like a wildfire.

Nice to hear positive news on athletes before the NFL season starts  ,,,

But seriously.. that's not the inspirational story of the month, IT'S THE SPORTS STORY OF THE YEAR as far as I am concerned.

  262. chawan_cut:

    that's WAC'd!!!
hopefully she knew what UH stood for.

  263. FloridaTed:

The only way somebody as incompetent and close to criminally negligent as Herman Frazier could last as long as he did, is that people, who are overseeing him, are even more incompetent and stupid than he is. That Lagaretta sounds like a complete dingbat.

  264. wafan:

    CC . . .

Yep. "uh" is the sound one makes when having a brain-fart. Similar to "um" or "ah".

Or is the University of Houston Fighting Rainbows?

  265. wafan:

    Kekoa . . .

Corporal punishment. In the olden days, go to Damien and tell Brother Ford he is incorrect on any topic. Then tell him he does not know a single thing about anything. Voila! You learn about corporal punishment.

Talk about making sure you do not repeat the same error -- let alone even think about anything like that -- ever again.

    Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

  266. chawan_cut:

kitty's probably related to the ex-chancellor what's her name. ms. makeup-an-excuse??? danced around questions more than the abc stars. maybe she and HF were in it together.

thank goodness we have Ms. Hinshaw. prayers go out to her and her family.

  267. wafan:

    Kekoa . . .

Actually, it is very similar to the stink-eye you get from upset Asian women. Except the terror of the stink-eye lasts longer than the pain of the physical beating. Still wake up at night in a cold sweat from the last stink-eye I got from Mom about nine years ago.

I think it is called PTSD -- post traumatic stink-eye disorder.

  268. Kazz:

    Chawan,

I know all of us were apprehensive about Dr. Hinshaw coming in, but she has proven herself thus far and provided the kind of leadership that has been lacking for a while at Manoa.

Hopefully in the next few years the team of Donovan and Hinshaw will have completely erased the follies of the Legion of Doom.

  269. duffer:

  270. chawan_cut:

  272. Stephen Tsai:

    Thanks, Duffer.
I got a head's up from your publicist, Al.
    That's very generous of you.

  273. wafan:

Incompetence breeds incompetence. Now they are gone.

Success breeds success. Hinshaw/Donovan -- we are going to be successful! Whoo-hoo!

  274. Kazz:

    Can anyone confirm this non-sense?

I caught a thread on the "topix" message board forum something about UH Manoa starting a program to feed ferile cats on campus and spending $3,000.00 for this project???

    Two things:

-What??? How self-destructive is this considering the new turf at Les Murakami and the pending changes to the once feces-riddled Cooke Field???

-Or the thread was meant to be sarcastic considering the sightings of a professor going out of the way to add to the problem.

  275. Kazz:

    CONGRATS C.J.!!!

Good things come to good people.

  276. wafan:

    Kazz . . .

Kind of like the nutty professor? Or a bit more eccentric? People do interesting things.

  277. Kazz:

    Wafan,

I could have sworn I saw that person doing so out of their car in the early morning before football practice started.

  278. wafan:

    Shucks, almost forgot!

Good to hear from Wassup Doc. Your insight into the inner workings of the legislature and pending bills provided a lot of valuable information. And, by making some of the information public it helps keep the politicians a bit more honest since what they do is viewed on this public forum.

    Way to go!

  279. Kazz:

RE: Field Turf on Cooke Field

Not sure if there are any more obstacles to overcome before the money allocated by the legislature, as mentioned by Rep. Takai yesterday, but I wonder what is going to be done to avoid the animal feces issue when field turf is installed there.

I will never forget ST's report of trace amounts of cat feces being found underneath the old surface on Cooke Field.

  280. wafan:

Maybe this could turn out to be an "undercover" job for the Princess! Get out there and do some early morning shooting of the Cat-Feeder.

Perhaps Kazz, CC, and Jason could go out with her to help stake the place out.

"Shhhhhh, be vewy, vewy quiet. We're hunting for the nutty professor. Heh-heh-heh-heh."

  281. BowsForever:

    Go CJ!

Heard from Rich Miano on the Bobby Curran show this morning that the odds are against most free agents making a team roster, but I know the Fearsome Foursome of receivers are a special group!

Here's hoping all the Warrior alumni kick butt at mini-camps and keep on the gas pedal throughout the preseason. I believe!

  282. wafan:

    Time to check for cracks!

See a few of you in the morning.

  283. Kazz:

    Wafan,

No need stake the place out.

You can probably find the culprit parked on the bottom level of the parking structure in the last row facing the rock wall, in the 10th or 1st stall closest to the tennis courts.

  284. Dennis Halloran:

Back from a month in Mexico, great trip(stayed away from Tijuana ans Rosarito).

Not really surprised Colt went late, but excited about him being with Zorn. Ideal situation, because his register wil ring with his first re-up after three years.
Also we almost forget that he is 24 years old. Remeber the difference in our own lives between 21 and 24. Military had a lot to do with most of us older folks but working world also affects our visions and intensity.
    Sic em Colt!

  285. Stephen Tsai:

    Wafan:
For reasons I'm not allowed to discuss, there will not be any new videos posted by union staffers until May 20.

  286. Garret:

    Congratulations to C.J.!

  287. Garret:

Congratulations to Jayson for winning the shirt!

  288. Garret:

    ST,

You had mentioned that the movie passes would go to the winner if he/she lived on Oahu. Jayson mentioned that he was in New York, so I'm guessing he cannot use those movie passes in Hawaii. You might have to have another contest tomorrow.

  289. Garret:

Looking for stories on the Miami Warriors, this article caught my eye.

Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, his business manager Marty Garafalo confirmed Thursday night.

The 25-year-old Cutler found out about two weeks ago that he was diabetic and needed daily insulin injections, Garafalo told The Associated Press.

Other athletes who have competed with diabetes include Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Clarke, Charlotte Bobcats forward Adam Morrison, golfers Scott Verplank, Michelle McGann and Kelli Kuehne and Olympic swimmer Gary Hall Jr.

  290. Kekoa:

St ~ For reasons we are at liberty to discuss, it don't make no never mind...long as we have Liz, sj, & chawan_cut, we will be just fine...get plenty videos!

  291. Garret:

Interesting that the NFL draft might move from New York to LA. If it does come to LA, I might attend one day to cheer for the Warriors that will be drafted (like Adam, Sol, Mouton, etc. next year).

The league is considering moving the NFL draft from New York beginning next year, and AEG has had preliminary discussions with the NFL about holding the draft at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in 2009. The NFL's two-year contract with Radio City Music Hall has expired.

"We think it would be phenomenal in L.A. and we're prepared to do whatever it takes to get it here," said Tim Leiweke, president and chief executive of AEG.

Asked recently whether the league was considering moving the draft from New York, where it has been held since 1965, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said, "Yes. There seems to be a great deal of interest from various cities to do it. We think Radio City has been terrific, and obviously being in the media capital is a terrific thing for us, but it is something that we continue to evaluate, and we haven't come to any conclusion on it.

  292. Loa:

evening gang ! just wanted to stop in for a fast one.

ST - whatever the reason you cannot discuss, you have my support, we'll be ok here

    Kekoa - great story, amen

congrats and good luck to CJ

see you tomorrow, i wonder how d1's team did?

  293. Garret:

    Kekoa,

I personally will really, really miss the Princess' videos. She does an amazing job getting the stories that I'm interested in and her access lets us get a glimpse of the player's personalities.

  294. Kekoa:

    Seriously Speaking Tsaikos ~

All are welcome to a very relaxing, *mom no need cook* buffet this Sunday, May 4th @ 10 AM. We are gathering at the Kole Kole Grill for what us regular West Side guys usually call our Tsaiko Coffee Call on Sunday mornings.

This time we decided to open it up to whom-so-ever wants to come join us. As usual the talk centers on UH Warrior fb. In future weeks, we will move the coffee call to other locations on island.

For more detailed info, please click on to SteveM web site, or take a peek unda-neat my name above.

  295. Jason:

Nice for C.J. to get a chance with the Falcons. He's a long shot, but he's also a sleeper. And you gotta like how he said, "If it’s God’s will, it’ll be OK." We don't take that attitude enough.

While everyone is talking about the softball story, how about this: Tennessee's Chris Lofton kept secret the fact that he underwent cancer treatment between the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, but now he's speaking out.

  296. chawan_cut:

    kekoa,
well, there's not much UH news in the news, so i don't have much videos to post either....
we will miss the 'tiser videos though. hopefully they will return sooner.

  297. Garret:

It is sad that the National Player of the Year for high school girl's basketball has *quit* the sport. Apparently the nasty recruiting battle over her made her not want to play basketball anymore.

The winner of the inaugural HoopGurlz/ESPN National Player of the Year was announced earlier this month, and while you may not have heard of her, Elena Delle Donne should be noticed. Called the female LeBron James, and compared favorably to Dirk Nowitzki, she’s a 6-foot-5 guard with serious skills. (You can see them here, if you have the desire to watch nine minutes of three pointers and blocked shots). While she doesn’t possess the raw athleticism of Candace Parker, she has range that extends beyond the three-point line, the slick handle of a point guard, a superb post-up game, and has shot 87% from the free throw line over the course of her career. She has also led her Ursuline Academy Raiders (Delaware) to four state titles in five years, averaging 31 points and 11 boards her senior season, and picking up multiple national Player of the Year awards along the way.

Last summer, she quit. She walked away from her club team, her high school team, and the Olympic U-19 team. Despite being the #1 recruit in the country, she had enough, and vowed not to step foot on a court again until September of last year.

“If they (college recruiters) call, I probably won’t answer or call back. If they text, I might ignore them. I’m totally putting that away. The whole recruiting thing was a huge part in my getting to this point.”

Has it gotten to the point that Division I recruits feel the only way they can live a normal life, even in Delaware, is to walk away from the game? Quite possibly, yes. Delle Donne’s career has been followed closely since she was a precocious pre-teen - albeit a 6-foot-5 one. After attending a basketball camp the summer before her 8th grade year in North Carolina, UNC Coach Sylvia Hatchell called Ernie Delle Donne, Elena’s father, into her office to offer Elena a full-ride. Since then, countless articles have been written about the girl who is supposed to re-write the record books, and it seems as if all the attention has finally taken it’s toll on her.

Elena Delle Donne is one of the most highly recruited female athletes, perhaps ever. Barraged with attention, text messages, and phone calls since the time she first came on the scene as a 12-year-old, it got to the point that she couldn’t even go out in her hometown without being stopped multiple times. Her high school games were often delayed while security worked to squeeze the crowds into the gym - where fans were often relegated to standing-room-only to accommodate the dozens of coaches in attendance. She couldn’t leave her phone for more than a few minutes without racking up dozens of text messages and voice mails.

  298. Garret:

I cannot believe that a 21-year-old guy would try to forge a check and claim that his girlfriend's mother wrote the check to him. That isn't the part I can't believe...I cannot believe that he wrote the check out for $360 BILLION!

A man has been accused of attempting to pass a $360 billion check, which he claims was given to him by his girlfriend’s mother to start a record business, Fort Worth police said.

The personal check was not made out to Mr. Fuller and when the bank contacted the check owner, the woman said she did not write a check for $360 billion.

Mr. Fuller was also accused of unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana, Lt. Henderson said. He may also face a theft charge in Crowley.

  299. Garret:

    Liz,

Thank you for trying to help me out with the shirt. I didn't deserve it though...but I would have given it to my parents if you gave it to me. Maybe that would stop my Dad from mentioning that I should have let him know about the Tsaiko-gate and Hospitality room for the Warrior Bowl!

The only way somebody as incompetent and close to criminally negligent as Herman Frazier could last as long as he did, is that people, who are overseeing him, are even more incompetent and stupid than he is. That Lagaretta sounds like a complete dingbat.

but you would agree that its Jimmy Donovan's call, and we should give him the benefit of the doubt, whatever his decision, right? I mean, he might be stuck with a clingy thingy from HF days, or whatever. I trust Jim D to do the right thing. If he cut him, I'd support him. If he doesn't this year, I'm sure he'll choose the right time to say something.

Meanwhile, I agree with LizK. Gotta deal with Shoji fiirst. And meanwhile, Jimmy should also talk to Wilton. He may be thinking about Utah and family, and the transition should be smooth now or down the line. He's a great coach and he knows we mean him well. If he's still got the fire, great. i think he does. And Nash. gotta support him too. c'mon you guys an gals, the Legislature just backed us up (UH Athletics) big time. So WarriorMojo, what say ye to my plea that we get together with prideperiod, and the two of you teach me the finer points of offensive line play? I gotta know, if I'm going to live my dream of retiring early and becoming a scout for the 49ers. ;-)

  336. WarriorMojo:

Rob25, I do have your DVD. Email me at WarriorMojoRocks at Gmail dot com.

  337. Jason:

Yeah, I need my two DVDs too. I forgot about those. I need something to keep me busy during the summer; seven UH games from last year will do that. :-)

  338. WarriorMojo:

Jase: Yeah, I saw RainbowMojo before. He/she can stay with that name. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter.

As for O-line stuff, Pride is the man you want. I really don't know anything. I just like to watch playe over and over to see who did what on each play.

    I'm sick that way.

  339. RainbowMojo:

Luke aka WarriorMojo: "I am your fada....."

  342. al:

ummmm. jase, did i ever get my dvds from you????
you know the one that the falsemojo's alterego made for me?

  343. WarriorMojo:

NO, that's not right. I almost kill you, but then I let you go to avoid going over to the darkside.

Hmm, but in real life I'm already there; I'm a lawyer. Say your prayers.

  344. al:

yah, that was the bsu and uw.

  345. Jason:

Nah, don't be shame. You both know your stuff. Now, if someone wants to know about QBs, I say, let them come to me. But if it's about O-line, I go to you two. :-)

And yes, BSU and UW. You gave me Al's BSU DVDs, which I gave to him after he gave me hard time about it. I shall e-mail you as well.

  346. Jason:

To clarify: WarriorMojo had Al's DVDs for BSU, but he didn't show so I took them. But when Al gave me hard time about keeping them, I gave them to Al. So I need DVDs for BSU and UW from Mojo. I guess Al might need the UW DVDs as well, but I never got those from Mojo.

  347. Garret:

Good luck to Davone! Article about the Dolphins' rookie minicamp. All of a sudden, Miami went from Bess being the only undrafted free agent WR to their having FIVE undrated free agent WRs going to their rookie minicamp. There is an opportunity for playing time for the winner of this battle...best of luck to Bess!

Consider this: Of the 22 players who were selected as the AFC's starters in this year's Pro Bowl, 14 weren't selected in the first round. Four of those 14 weren't drafted until after the third round -- and four others weren't drafted at all.

Half of the NFC's Pro Bowl starters also weren't drafted in the first round, and two also started their careers as undrafted free agents.

The point? Everyone will have a chance.

And believe it or not, in the NFL, sometimes that is all it takes.

    SIGNINGS

The Dolphins announced the signings of their 14 undrafted players Thursday, each of whom will be among those vying for those scarce roster spots: wide receivers Jayson Foster, Marcel Reece, Davone Bess, Justin Wynn and Selwyn Lymon; Linebackers Titus Brown and Kelly Poppinga; kicker Dan Carpenter; offensive linemen Dan Gore, Daren Heerspink and Mike Byrne; cornerback Aaron Lane; tight end Matthew Mulligan; and defensive tackle Kory Robertson.

  348. WarriorMojo:

RainbowMojo and anyone else who is unsure: I'm just fooling around so don't take anything I say seriously. It's intended to be humor, but probably not coming across that way.

  349. Garret:

    Quote from Bess!

The undrafted rookies know their college statistics mean nothing.

"I need to learn the system, the playbook, give it my all and open some eyes of the coaches," said Hawaii receiver Davone Bess, who averaged 97 catches and 1,204 yards over three seasons.

Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland is a believer in first impressions.

"I think it is important that these guys compete and have a good first impression," Ireland said. "You can't loaf, you can't make mental errors, so you have to come in working hard, giving everything you've got because the microscope is on them and we are looking for tough, smart, disciplined football players."

  350. WarriorMojo:

Garret, I've had your dad's dvds sitting here on my desk for months now. Can you send me his snail mail address and I'll send it to him? Thanks.

  351. Stephen Tsai:

Why does Bess need to know the system?
I thought the NFL doesn't want system players.

  360. cocobean:

Always thought CJ was way under rated. JJ did say either CJ or Mouton was the fastest guy on the team. One of the reasons he switched from D to O. Having played on both sides of the ball should help in making a team. While developing as a receiver he can play on the kick coverage special teams. Free agents besides quarterbacks and lineman types usually earn their roster spot more for their special teams play than their position skills. Good luck CJ. Work hard and stay humble.

So I've cooked dinner, washed the dishes, and went through the bills. Maybe it's time I actually study for the test I have tomorrow. Can you believe that; prof decides that hundreds of final exams can't be graded by the time final grades are due, so he gets special permission to move it up early. So instead of Fri May 16, the first half is tomorrow, and the second half is Wednesday. And on Wednesday, there's a 5-page research paper due. What fun!

Old school local commercial - Father watches son play football. Son drops pass. Father - "You dropped the ball! You not my son! You not my son!" Son looks down dejected. After father comes to senses - "You my son."

    Who remembers dat one??

I thought Jase had to study!

Anyway, the moment has passed. Soon, it will be a new issue and nobody will read my comment from the day before.

  381. chawan_cut:

    jason,
yes. that was pretty boring. not lame, just boring.

if you can't read the breaking stories on the main page to begin with then you shouldn't even be on the internet.

  382. Jason:

Exactly, it's all in the breaking stories anyways. Who needs to watch a video to get the headlines. That's uber lame! Rather, we need a new word for it. Give "lame" to chawan_cut, but we need a new word for that video. Seriously, it was useless. I thought it was an inside look at the world of Advertiser reporters.

  383. Jason:

Er, I'm studying. Kinda. Maybe. Yeah, I'm lazy.

  384. chawan_cut:

no you're not. you're talking to me. and the wind.

  385. Jason:

Yeah, I'm tired of studying. So I'm going to finish season 3 of House, then go to bed. I always do best when I cram on the bus ride to school.

  386. Stephen Tsai:

    Wow.
    That was a lame-o video.
We've got this other strange feature in our paper. A guy picks his favorite photos from the wire service. He doesn't shoot the photo, edit it, crop it. Nothing. Just picks his favorite.
    Lame-o.

    Jason,

since u taking one break, watched KIKU last night? whot you think of da new 7 duel series?

was kind of weird for me at first, you kinow, not seeing sonny chiba as yagyuu jubei.

  389. BG:

Here's my log for the trip -

Objective: Travel from Oahu, Hawaii to Osan, Korea

Initial – Forget about the lead up drama to leaving Hawaii. I posted about it…it was a mess

Phase 1 – Caught C-17 to Yokota the on Monday. There were no flights to Osan for the next 3 days. Kadena showed nothing also. Went to Travel office and purchased one way tix from Narita to Inchon. Flight was leaving 1400 the next day so we stayed at Kanto Lodge (nice) and took the 0900 shuttle bus to Narita

Phase 2 – At Inchon, located USO desk and was just in time to take free shuttle bus directly to Dragon Hill Lodge in Yongson. Rented a cell phone in DHL lobby area so we could communicate with family. Found that we could call out, but local economy cell phones could not call into the base. We were definitely missing a piece of the puzzle. Our rented cell had all incoming calls free, but only 27 minutes for out-going. We worked around by having SKYPE on our laptop and using that to make out-going calls cheaply.

Phase 3 – Because of set family commitments, we missed flight to Hickam out of Osan on Sun. Took shuttle bus from Yongson to Osan the next day. Bus stopped right at Turumi Inn…another nice facility. Found out no flights to Hickam, Kadena, or Yokota for next three days. However, the next morning, I walked down to check again and found that there was a 1300 roll call with unknown seats to Fatenma in Okinawa. A quick google showed it to be close to Kadena. Rushed to check-out and get to terminal. 1300 was pushed back to 1400 and then 1520. Turned out to be Marine general’s private jet dropping off some folks and picking up one for Kadena. No waiting. Load up and in the air, ASAP. Luckily, upon landing, found that the other occupant was heading to Kadena and had his truck. We hitched a ride to Shogun Inn. Pretty full, but we got lucky again. Terminal rep said C-5 with 73 tentative seats to Hickam at 1700 the next day. Next day, 1400 phone call said delay to 0640 the next morning. Next morning, 0600 call to recording said flight roll call delayed to 1040. Took advantage of delay to go to newly located Immigrations office (off base). Had forgotten to go the previous day when flight was delayed because I was on the phone to American Express and Tokyo all day after discovering that someone was ringing up charges on my AMEX in Tokyo. Explained and didn’t get a hassle from Immigrations…was stamped in and out. Did not want to go back because it was raining and the taxi ride took about 15 minutes one way. With the wait time (about 15 min), the round trip cost $38. Instructions at terminal said to be checked in and manifested before going to immigrations. They did take retirees and those with Japanese passports to the head of the check in line. But, with a lot of passengers, it would be problematic. Flight executed as scheduled with plenty of room to stretch out and sleep for everyone.

Promise that I didn't embellish things...it's my story and I'm sticking to it :D :

  390. BG:

If it's hard to figure out what I said about the trip, it's probably because my brains are still mush from jet lag and the long flight.

    Gonna go do more Zzzzzzz

  391. koakane ™:

    al,

how u man, long time, kekoa and I was wondering about you.

agree with you about Sonny Chiba. hope this new one is just as good. finally got to see [if true] how his eye was injured.

  392. Kekoa:

BG ~ Tell me the truth...you swiped this story from a Korean Drama coach putting together another series for Koakane & Jason to wonder if was true or not. If not, you should produce it.

Since we have no video coverage from the HA until May whenever, the continuing episodes of Betty & BG on the road to nowhere will fill in very nicely.

The main thing is, you returned safely, and hit all of your appointed rounds with a little extra exciting and unplanned detours on the side.

    Welcome home BG family!
    Happy Lei Day!

  393. al:

yah, that was a significant tidbit that the threw in.

  395. al:

Remember Lucious Henderson? He is enrolling at UH — University of Houston. He was another one-time UH recruit who got lost in the changeover.

at least he didn't sue us.

  396. Long Time UH Fan:

    Al, Koakane,,,, The Eyepatch Legend

Legend has it that Yagyū Jūbei had the use of only one eye; most legends state that he lost it in a sword sparring session where his father, Yagyū Munenori, struck him accidentally. However, portraits from Jubei's time portray him as having both eyes. The truth is unknown and several authors of recent have chosen to portray Jūbei as having both eyes, though the classical "eyepatch" look remains standard. Others have chosen to have Jūbei lose an eye as an adult in order to incorporate the eyepatch legend.

In popular culture, Jūbei's eye patch is usually just a sword guard with leather wrapped through it. An alternate dramatization to this is found in the manga Samurai Legend, in which a swordsman is seen walking with a sword guard on his right eye, matching the popular culture image, while another character of similar stature follows behind. A group of samurai recognize the eye-patched man as Yagyū (Jūbei) Mitsuyoshi, although this identity is not volunteered. This Jūbei is literally disarmed five pages in, only for the two-eyed Yagyū Jūbei following behind to reveal himself a second later. The fiction appears to imply that Yagyū Jūbei is known through local reputation to have an eye-patch; hence his body double wore one to convince others that he is the real Jūbei (even though the real Jūbei has the use of both eyes). There is no further explanation in the story or by the author why the body-double has this eye patch or where this reputation came from. Near the middle of this manga, the real Jūbei loses his right eye in a swordfight and for the final chapters, he wears an eye-patch. Another exception lies in Jubei-chan: The Ninja Girl, in which the eyepatch passed onto Jūbei-chan is heart-shaped and pink.

Jubei has lost his eye in different ways in various media. In Samurai Reincarnation, his eye is lost in a training session with his father, Tajima. In Shogun's Samurai, it is lost when Ogasawara Gensinsai cuts through the door striking Jubei in the eye. However, in Yagyu Conspiracy, this is changed and his eye is now lost to an arrow shot by Noble Ayamaro Karasumasu and Ogasawara Gensinsai ends up only cutting Jubei's arm.

  397. LizKauai:

(general)BG- great story! Glad you guys made your rounds safely - except for the AMEX thing.
So- Yongson...wow. I used to live down the street at YaksooDong - actually, Kekoa and I figured out we were pretty much neighbors in the 60's!

Jase and chawan - is it me or did that "working on stories" video feel like a monitor cam until the closing title?
    Hmm... I should try that.
Hi boss, these are the things I am working on...

  398. Jason:

koakane: I watched it, didn't care for it all that much. The political intrique is interesting, but they really draw it out. And the actor portraying Jūbei doesn't seem to have much of a connection with the others. I doubt I'm going to continue watching if this continues. I just didn't care for that first episode at all.

  399. LizKauai:

I was watching the NFL roundup on NFL channel a few mins ago.
Mayock comes on and is speculating about the 3 receivers drafted by the Redskins and saying something like - this could be great or a bust.
No word about the gunslinger drafted in the 6th round.
I got a good feeling about what Washington is thinking about with Colt and the receiving corps but Mayock pi$$ed me off and I turned the TV off in disgust.

  400. SteveM:

BG -- welcome back! Were you able to meet TChahng in Korea? If so, what was the date (Korea time).

  401. Da Punchbowl Kid:

    BG,
Your trip diary reads like it should be a PBS documentary. (maybe I've been watching "Carrier" too much over these last few nights) What an adventure you guys had.

  402. SteveM:

I havd a lukewarm feeling about The 7 Duels series too. Having seen all the Yagyu Jubei series with by Sonny Chiba, it is a different production. Since the 80's I have always thought that Shinichi (Sonny) Chiba epitomzed Yagyu Jubei on film-- just as, say, Henry Fonda epitomized the President of the U.S on film.

  403. LizKauai:

I loved all the series during that time- Yagyu Jubei series with Sonny Chiba, Abarenbo Shogun, the one with the policeman that did not use a sword, sheesh, I've forgotten all the names... and the travelers, all those KIKU evening shows!!!

    Now I'm hungry for saimin...

  404. SteveM:

Liz -- did you and Bighilofan2 get your tix for the Florida game? If so, what are your section/row numbers (I'll add it to the Florida game Tsai-ko page).

  405. Kekoa:

BG made me crave some noodles. Just got back from Zippy's with a big cup of Won Ton Mein and another container of gravy and veggies. Now I'm adding some shrimp and extra char siu into the soup base. Ouch! I'm on fire! The sticks are burning up with flavor-flave! Mmm...ono!

  406. LizKauai:

Hi Steve! bhf2 snagged the tix. He may have reservations or actual tix by now.

  407. LizKauai:

Dangit, Kekoa, now I have to scrounge and see if I have any saimin left.

  408. LizKauai:

    arrrgh!

ok, brush teeth and Nitey Nite!

    Sweet Spring NFL Camp Dreams!

  409. SteveM:

    Good night, Liz.
I'll have time for more mischief tomorrow... :)

    Good night everyone!

  410. Lopaka43:

More for those looking forward to the Warrior - Gator showdown in The Swamp:

This apparently is the Stephen Tsai blog equivalent for Gainesville. Claims to be a blog, but has very few commenters. Most excitement was 14 comments responding to predictions about spring practice.

Comments are typical recycled hate talk and jock sniffing. All of the focus is on the rivalry with Georgia. Nobody talking about Hawaii.

  411. Lopaka43:

The Gainesville Sun gatorsports.com football page shows Florida's 2008 schedule with the opening game against "No. 19 Hawaii" which gives us some respect by showing our AP end of the season rating. (Florida's end of season AP rating was No. 13.) Interesting that the end of the season coaches rating had Florida at 16 and Hawaii at 17!!

If you click on the hot link to Hawaii, it shows two stories that suggest our program is struggling - the dispute with June Jones over the $400k, and Keenan Jones suspension. The only other story is the $4.4 million payout for the Sugar Bowl.

Until we show up, we are just the "Fighting Rainbows" to Gainesville folks. LOL!!

  412. HiFlyer:

Loapaka, did you post a comment that we are not the Fighting Rainbows but the Hawaii WARRIORS.

    Talk story topics:

    Price of rice.
    Hoarding rice in Hawaii.
Warrior Bowl, "Green should be beating Black right about now."
    Notable Tsaikos
    Military careers
    Family
    The Warrior Beat
    Da Warriors
Da ex-girlfriend inviting herself to my apartment.

Not necessarily in that order. Sorry A-House. We didn't talk about Korean dramas. Had a glass of the house micro-brew Amber beer at the "Oasis" bar. Was ono!

    Mr. Tsai . . .

No problems with the video. Maybe it is something CC could work on if he has some time. Why is the Humane Society or Hawai'i ASPCA not involved?

  415. wafan:

And, welcome home BG and Betty!!!

Sounds like quite the adventure. Glad to hear you are both safe.

  416. Garret:

Arizona State cut its cheerleading squad!

The sidelines at Arizona State University sporting events will look a little different next season.

The school has cut its cheerleading squad after 'inappropriate' photos were found on The Dirty, a campus blog.

The school's athletic director, Lisa Love, made the decision Thursday evening.

The pictures on the blog featured 6 of the cheerleaders wearing bras and panties.

  418. Garret:

Another article includes ASU's spin on the situation.

According to the ASU website, ASU will no longer have a competitive cheer team.

In place of the team, they will have smaller varsity and junior varsity spirit squads that will work under the band director.

ASU assistant athletic director Steve Hank says, "We are not eliminating our cheer program. We are strengthening our presentation. Our game experience is centered around several organizations that help create our in game environment. We have decided to combine the strengths of these organizations under one central leadership group thereby creating a unified spirit squad."

  419. LizKauai:

    Aloha Kakahiaka!
    Cats woke me up...

  420. LizKauai:

TChahng [대장입니다] - Hiya! Anyone take pictures????

  421. Garret:

LSU *finally* kicked their projected starting QB off their team. He had so many off-the-field incidents that I couldn't believe he was being kept around. Missing team meeting, skipping classes, tardy or missing conditioning workouts, DUIs, restaurant incidents where the coach and AD had to apologize for him, etc.

LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who had legal and disciplinary problems throughout his college career, was kicked off the defending national championship team.

Perrilloux, who had been suspended three times in his college career, "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete," LSU coach Les Miles said Friday. He did not offer details.

Perrilloux, who also was suspended by the Tigers last summer, was on the fringe of a counterfeiting investigation and was caught trying to enter a Baton Rouge casino with false identification. He also was involved in a fracas at a nightclub in November, but was cleared of wrongdoing.

    http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/story/518020.html

    "WIDE RECEIVERS?

There is one problem with focusing on Henne. He isn't likely to have any elite players catching his passes. After neglecting the wide receiver position with each of the team's nine picks, the Dolphins at least added five undrafted free agents to give the team enough players to run routes for a rookie minicamp. Then again, who knows? We will watch Hawaii's Davone Bess, above, and Georgia Southern's Jayson Foster to see what they can do."

here's da scoop. Fla. neva send me actual tix yet, said coming in 2 months. Fla. tkt office jus said me n Liz get [prolly nosebleed section] seats. so now dat we're at least in da house, i going stubhub every other day or so to look for low # seats in section 36, 38, 40, try for upgrade, $ permitting, and sell da Fla. tix day projecting us to now sit in. also going see what UHAthl going say since I on da list for 5. if UH "offers", I going with UH sections. bottom line is if can can, no can no can. just wanted to make sure we in cuz Hawaii only get 4,000 tix spots. dats da plan for now anyways. proper prior planning prevents poor performance.

    Good Morning

Looking at the papers this morning.I find no editorials pertaining to the ousted Board of Regent member. The SB has detailed reporting, more than what we read yesterday, and the HA has no articles today. The other paper gives a scorecard of how the members of the Senate voted. This paper keeps us in the dark.Again, it's anyone guess if it's done intentionally.

My opinions:If the very same reasons why Sakamoto,Chair of the Senate Board of Education, cited as the reason for not reconfirming another term for Lagaureta then wouldn't it make perfect sense that McCain should have been on the hot seat before anyone else.McCain's the direct descendent of all the problems at the UH.He manifested the problems. He stares the problems on a daily basis. And he's already admitted in a press conference that he should have taken a closer look at the athletic director, football coach and the athletic facilities. The school is 300 million behind on repairs because of who? A board of regents member or the direct leadership of McCain? McCain should be the recipient of finger pointing, not only Lagaureta.

Continuing,if Sakamoto and the other members of the Senate are people of integrity then we should be interrogating McCain unmercifully on the stand. What they can't do,is think the panacea of the problems at the UH is to put the Board of Regents on notice while McCain is in the throes of continuing mucking it up at Manoa.
