J-E-T-S release Patton
By Stephen Tsai
It's too bad the New York Jets released Kenny Patton, who is a talented and athletic cornerback. But UH fans can meet with Patton this weekend. Patton and Leonard Peters, now with the Chicago Bears, will be guest instructors at the Hawai‘i Speed and Quickness clinic Saturday in Klum Gym. The session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. For details, go to hawaiispeedandquickness.com

Tight end Jeremy Stevens of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worked out at UH's grass practice field today. Stevens and UH defensive line coach Ikaika Malloe are good friends. Because it was an unsupervised workout, Malloe dropped off Stevens but wasn't allowed to stay.
* * *
Ryan Henry has made a strong first impression, displaying quickness and sure hands during yesterday's unsupervised workouts. Henry, a junior-college transfer, is competing at slotback. During workouts, he joins two other transfers — Mike Tinoco and Craig Bell. A fourth transfer, Jovonte Taylor, reports to training camp next month.
* * *
Leadership has many definitions. Adam Leonard, a senior, shows his leadership by bringing the water. No wonder so many players respect him.
* * *
Quarterback Greg Alexander is fitting in, participating in yesterday's drills in bare feet. I'm not sure what Inoke Funaki is doing in the background.
* * *
Kawika Fuga, a former Leilehua High middle linebacker, has been working out with the fellas. This is a pretty good T-shirt:

Know that little voice in the back of your head? For those who cover UH football, that voice belonged to Dara Young, who was a member of the stat crew. Her knowledge of football is vast, her commitment deep. She once got married in the morning, then kept stats that night. Here's Dara:
Football is like air to me – which is why I suffocate between February and August. My wonderful father, bless his heart, probably thought his eldest was going to be a boy. But, he still watched sports in my presence, and I asked him a million questions about sports. As a 4-year-old, my favorite players were Alex Kaloi and (gasp!) O.J. Simpson! I LOVED Joe Moore as the KGMB sports anchor, and even asked for Joe’s autographed photo for my 5th birthday. I got my wish, by the way.
Remember those Troll Book orders in elementary school? Well, I ordered all the sports ones: “Ten Great NFL Quarterbacks,” and the list goes on. Dan Fouts, Ken Stabler, Tony Dorsett, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris….they were all in the books I ordered. Then when I was 8, I got another gridiron thrill: my dad took me to the first NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii!
As an Eastside rat who went to Kaiser, Scott Chan was my P.E. and health teacher. I had heard he was a pretty darn good player in the 1970s; he was a great teacher too. I dragged my girlfriend (a football hater) to the Kaiser games…then when we moved on to UH-Manoa, I somehow persuaded her to buy Super Rooter tickets with me. She was a quite a trooper and even stood in the rain with me and watched Jason Elam and the Rainbows beat Iowa!!! Think the rain did her in, because after that, I was on my own with UH football.
I got lucky and ended up working part-time in the UH Athletic Department first at the business office, then at the SID Office with Eddie Inouye, Thomas Yoshida, Lois Manin and Markus Owens. Great, great people – and UH still has fabulous people in that Athletic Department. I was a shy, quiet student who tried to soak up all I could under the “seasoned” students: The Advertiser’s own Dayton Morinaga and Henry Yamamoto, who served as the Wahine Volleyball P.A. during the Klum Days. After that, I became a UH Athletic Department barnacle – they just couldn’t get rid of me.
In between my job at the best hotel in Hawaii, I get to enjoy each UH home football game in person – sitting right behind Mr. Tsai, our beloved blog host. I’m lucky to be part of a great stats team who’s seen the lows and the highs. One of the most memorable games has to be the UH double overtime win over Fresno State in 1999…what a thriller!
And then there was 2007. What a season, what a finish. I just had to be there to join the Hawaii contingent in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl because it was one of the few opportunities I had to scream my head off (can’t do that during the games in the press box) for the Warriors. Following the Sugar Bowl and the administrative changes, I decided it was time to step it up and really put my money by my mouth and support the program. On the day that Coach Mack was named head coach, I sat there watching the press conference putting down my deposit for 2 season tickets. Although I won’t be sitting in those seats, I’ll still be screaming loudly…to myself.
I will now go back to lurking…GO WARRIORS
Here's Dara as the Warrior:

Wow that's a first for me....after all these years..."I'd like to thank the Academy. You LIke me...you really like me..." MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Inoke looks like he is doing some yoga in the background. Great to see that we seem to be getting a number of offensive weapons who are eager to play and show their stuff. Great that they are hungry. Also great humility and leadership shown by Adam Leonard...that's what a team needs. KEEP IT UP WARRIORS!!!

July 3rd, 2008 at 11:07 am
Boo hoo, I lost my recording of the UH -Washington game I recorded on Sunday when the cable man replaced my box today. I played here from 9am to 11 and showed mainly the amazing comeback by the Warriors topped off by Colt's 50 yard in-the-air throw to Rivers for the win. Not to mention the great defensive stop and interception at the end. I'm sure a lot of people here on the East-Coast enjoyed watching it.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 am
J-Dog....I think it officially took effect yesterday....

Greg Alexander is a few more steps away from da permanent shaka wit da same hand holding da green bottle, body leaning foward, free hand unda da shirt rubbing da opu..
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:43 am
This is how it goes:
I approach a player with my camera. Player always says, "no, no, no." Then the player smiles and flashes a shaka sign.
That's how you can tell who the newbies are, like Ryan Henry.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:45 am
aw-right, Dara!
NOTE FROM bhf2:
He spoke to Shirley, sec'y at the jugs machine fixing place. One machine was fixed and brought back to the field and is usable. The other has a broken controller and the part has been ordered.
Woo Hoo! Tsai-ko Power!
So- we may want to think about passing the "jug" for the jugs machines at the bash so that a certain Tsai-ko motivator and executor is not out of pocket by himself....
HIHO!

RE: Adam Leonard.
I hope more fans appreciate what this guy means to the team.
Back in the '06 year you could feel he was going to be an impact player and a future leader.
No doubt when the new uniforms go on sale next month, #44 SHOULD be the primary # for sale.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 am
Nice read Dara! Welcome Ryan!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 am
Great bio Dara. I like the dicotomy of ". . . shy and quiet . . ." to the sound on the video clip. HA! On the other hand, what are you like when you decide to make some noise?

haha, the Snake! I lived a couple of blocks from him and many other Raiders when I was a kid. Back then, too, he had the reputation for being a hard partier. Some things never change!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:51 am
Hey, when did we get the numbers back?
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:52 am
Being light on your feet takes practice, as Inoke demonstrates.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:53 am
If I ever had a son, I'd want him to be like Adam.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:53 am
J-Dog,
Yup like James mentioned, it's official as of two days ago. The Rainbowtique just "upped" their inventory last week I think: http://www.uhrainbowtique.com . Jerseys, as I was told, won't be in until early-mid August.
ST, I assume the players won't get their new UA gear and other goodies until the start of Fall Camp?
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:56 am
also add g to my merry band of helpers.
Koakane - hey, is this me?
IF so i'll help you however i can, but my taste buds kinda numb nowadays, might need quite a bit of "tasting"....................burp??!!

What's wrong with UA cleats? As for me, I love my SAS rubber-soled sandals. Great for golf. Might be good for football, too.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I have no idea what to say to that ...
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Hi Dara:
Great bio!
You, UHfan808, and Midori7 seem to come from the same mold - just great Warrior fans.
How come you get to sit behind ST? Shouldn't you be in front of him? Just joking, good neighbor.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:19 pm
I guess that solves the problem. I'll tell the players to wear SAS rubber-soled sandals.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Great bio Dara! It is awesome that you have been able to be involved with UH Athletics for so long...you have seen so many games and have had great views of everything!
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:21 pm
ST, and no need socks.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Kekoa:
your post on the previous blog re SID's office at UH.
seems we are the same radio freq - I posted a couple of days ago about my dissappointment of the seemingly lack of info to support UH and its athletes seems common sense to me, but-------------.
maybe the forest is too big and they concentrate only on the trees directly in front of them.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:24 pm
I think this was already posted yesterday or that the news is out anyway, but just in case anyone didn't hear about this yet...looks like UH might open the season on a Friday and that they will be paying a reasonable amount beyond travel costs. Unfortunately, travel costs might be crazy with the way things are going now.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:25 pm
When I see Vili on TV he looks so big. But, in photographs and standing next to others he is kind of a small guy! Must be the make-up or something. Maybe he pumps up prior to game time.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Pretty cool that in consecutive paragraphs the article mentions Bess, Reagan, and Samson!
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:30 pm
excellent bio dara. excellenter photo!
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Anyone having the comments jump back to the top when they refresh or submit a comment? Yesterday the blog would send you back to the point where you started/ended.
I hope the techies make up their minds SOON.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:32 pm
ST:
JD's August community day to spruce-up lower campus.
hope he/staff will put out word early what the needs are so the community can save that day and begin to gather whatever is needed to help out.
also, hope that JD and his crew can plan, organize, direct, and supervise the masses that turn out to help - it may turn out to be a MAJOR undertaking - it may take much more planning time than anticipated.
a simple item as fluids to keep all hydrated and where they will be located - medical support for those who go "overboard" - etc. - do we being our own lunch?
it would be total chaos is a plan is not in place.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:33 pm

on a sadder note, good bye Bozo R.I.P.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Let us see if this works.
A video of a car that runs on water. I think Garret might have posted something about it already. But, if not . . .
Looks like it uses batteries of some sort, too.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:36 pm
I wonder if UH players will be able to black out their Nike logos and wear them at games/practice. UA shoes tend to "roll", as they seem to be more flash wannabe technology than real substance. Hate to say it, but the shoes could negatively affect, particularly, our line performance offensively in particular. Bulla and I both have both mentioned separately that neither of these shoes can hold a candle to New Balance. Abe has had to switch from New Balance to Nike at his new school. It is sad that income is now more important than what functions best at Div 1 schools. btw, Dara, next Halloween I suggest you go as a SteveM shirted Tsaikette.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Garret:
re your # 60 post
Interesting that coaches tend to grumble about turn-around-time after playing in Hawaii to prepare for their next opponent when Hawaii has been doing this for years.
Coach Conque, like so many other "regional" or play only in your area coaches, will not give credit to Hawaii's football team during the season - and, sports casters/writers, tv-types, are the worst of all - they sit in their little cubby hole, cummfi and content, with very little or no experience in time/distance travel and what it does to you physically, but keep blasting Hawaii.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:44 pm
BM
I agree, New Balance is a great shoe for linemen. UA shoes might be good for the 'pretty boyz', but in the trenches where the real men are, they need something with more, not less, stability. kind of like playing basketball at crane park with ballerina shoes....very attractive but very dysfunctional.
that's my 2 cents, and i'll wait for my refund, haha
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Saw the PAC 10 discussion on the last blog...
As Koakane mentioned, this thing about conference affiliation (more specifically, PAC 10) comes around a couple of times a year (during the off-season). But, seeing that there are few football related topics to talk about, we might as well keep the discussion going.
Koakane nailed it when he asked for the criteria. We’re really looking for the proverbial black cat in a blacked out room who’s not there (without the criteria). But, being sports fans, we’re willing to talk about it until someone can provide the “Golden List”, yeah?
Speculating, I would guess that the PAC 10 looks at the entire package…facilities, academics/research, sports, alumni support, location, and economics. I only have a lunch hour, so I’ll just pick a couple to comment on.
Sports…what do we have to offer than a football team? I mean, right now, not down the road. Of course, the whole sports lineup COULD improve in the future. Do we think that the P10 will look at potential or what’s fact right now? Or, more importantly, what’s been the history of the school(s).
Location…OK, there could bucks to be made in playing P10 in football. But, what do you think goes through the minds of the deliberating committee when they have to consider the costs of sending all the non-revenue sports to play in Hawaii? Think about this when trying to see ourselves as others see us…what are the chances that the P10 would invite the University of Anchorage, Alaska, if that institution had all the sports, facilities, etc.? They are almost exactly the same non-stop flight time as we are to Phoenix, AZ!
OK, back to work pretty soon…final thought for now…believing that we can achieve anything is great for us fan(atics) because it doesn’t cost us anything (except maybe a donation here and there). But, when limited resources have to be spent to achieve a goal or dream, that’s when Reality steps into the picture with a thunderous crash! We can spend our whole recruiting budget going after the top recruits in the nation (with our budget, that might be ONE), or we do the reality check and go after the best quality with the best chance for us to land (as I think we do presently). Not putting down “Believing” because it’s a valid concept, however, it’s also beneficial to understand when it can be applied.
Work is calling…lattahz
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Hi Dara! homey ordered those kinds of books too. Actually, he borrowed those books from his fellow students.
Have a nice day.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Dara,
mahalo for the bio, nice read, so dedicated....gotta love it. being that i have a perfectly shaped head....how do i know that? because God made perfect heads, and the rest have hair....haha,
but sitting behind the world reknown ST at games, how much light reflects off of the front of his magnanimous brain? is it distracting....wanted to know, usually i'll wear a visor to offset the 'glare' i create.
thanks again, see you at the gamez
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:49 pm
On UA stuff, I've inspected the shoes and I wouldn't trust them.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Dara
Very nice bio.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
trashouts,
You make some good points about Hawaii and BYU being the best candidates for the Pac-10 to consider. The down side to that combo is that they are not good travelling partners. It doesn't matter for football, but in other sports, a team will usually play 2 away games at schools within the same vicinity each weekend: Arizona and Arizona St, UCLA and USC, Oregon and Oregon St, etc. Because of the distance between Honolulu and Provo, it would be a strain to play in both cities in a single weekend. There must be ways to overcome that though.
Meanwhile Boise St has aggressively pushed itself for consideration in other conferences. They have made it clear their aspirations are higher. Boise offers proximity, a winning tradition in football, and fans that travel well. However, except for proximity, Hawaii has a lot more to offer in so many different ways. Let's hope our leaders start promoting Hawaii. We need them to make the Pac-10 aware of the many advantages of our university and State.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Barry M,
Thanks for the info about the cleats.
I just hope that the guys will be using different cleats from UA as opposed to the ones you were talking about... Because no matter what, the guys will have to wear them.
BTW, what do you mean by "roll"? Does this mean one might "roll" their ankle while using them?
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Bonar,
I actually have the UA "Evade" and maybe because I am not using them in a game situation or a heavy training session I don't notice, but they're fine to me.
I just use them for gym use, on the treadmill and the eliptical machines. They do feel like the lightest shoe I ever had.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Dara-
Excellent bio! What a terrific job to have for a Tsaiko...lucky you!
ST-
You are a brave fellow.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Ever heard of BROOKS athletic shoes? Hubby bought them at Uyeda shoe store on University Ave,
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I hope that when someone does the next story (good job yesterday Mike Tsai) on Education 1st, that probable UH new staffer, Tony Tuioti, is given the credit he has never received. My understanding is that Tony wrote most of the original grant/funding requests...I am not personally happy with what seemed to transpire to him after he succeeded in bringing the program to fruition. So without dwelling on what may or may not have happened, Tony's unrecognized success in bringing life to this program adds to his subtance in bringing UH to new previously unimaginable levels of success. Tony's connections are amazing for such a young guy (NFL, universally respected by all Polynesians of all ethnicities, i.e. parents of recruited athletes), and he is a very hard working committed guy. Tony has high integrity, and is widely respected. I have absolute full confidence, that if Tony agrees to a paycut to come here, he will be a driving faction at UH that will make Jim Donovan's job easier in fundraising, ticket sales, etc. I do hope that Na Koa or private donors also find a slot for Doris. I would rather see Doris concentrate on certain administrative concerns, freeing Tony to go out to make things happen, stirring up enthusiasm, and getting great players (with no baggage) to maintain UH's new standards of excellence. Don't even think about Pac 10 til Tony has done his magic for 3 years...UH needs to go into that negotiation with strength. Tony Tuioti's presence will free up Coach McMackin to do what he does best....design defenses, coach....and eat with Tsaiko's.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Wena,
Message passed. Ask Allie about some cookies.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Kazz, "roll" means that the sides of the shoe do not support the foot from rolling over the side of the plastic sole...you lose support, particularly as an o-lineman mirroring a usually lighter, possibly quicker d-lineman, or worse a super athletic Adam Leonard kine linebacker. Worse I have heard, is about separation of the sole of the shoe in some products, but not on New Balance.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Aiyesoooos...
Man I hope that it will all work out for the best. I mean with Auburn, Maryland, South Carolina, Texas Tech, and others using UA I'm sure they will be quick to resolve any issues with equipment.
Unless players are not speaking up...
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:33 pm
st....glad to see that i am not the only one getting old.
i actually forgot about ryan henry. he'll probably turnout to be the best of the bunch.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Al, ST, wait til you're 99.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Great bio Dara.
Boy will have to watch wat is said about da wahine and sports knowledge.
99 club,
That is awesome funny! Missed it completely when I first read it!
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Further echo what Barry and Bulla said about New Balance.
#2 son used 'em last season and really liked 'em.
New school signed with the Swoosh guyz but still he wanted to stay with NB however, the coach says white shoes for everyone. Alas, NB no mo'.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
They kind of reminded me of a Reebok shoe in fit and shape that I had several years back. They're comfortable, but as a walking shoe and they look sharp. I'm sure they could be used regularly for lifting. The back end of the shoe, though, seemed to promote rolling when doing plyometrics, side to side movements aerobics, etc., and if I did any kind of running I'd stick to a running shoe.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Kazz,
Believe me, if a guy gets beat by a DE and gives up a sack he will "speak up" and blame everything under the sun including "my d4mn shoes, coach" for it.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Afternoon, Tsaiko-Nation and Tsai-Meister.
Found a computer for a little while, to stick my head in the village.
Aloha, Dara, what a fun bio. Your husband must be in heaven, having a sports nut like you as a wife. You must blog more often, your blood is definately Tsaiko.
BG,
Unfortunately I have to agree with you on the PAC-10. That league is not seriously looking to expand for at least 3 to 4 years and who knows where gas prices are then. If the Islands were 500 miles outside California, we would be in the PAC-10 already. It will be just a nice dream for many years to come. In the meantime, all energy should be expended to make the WAC a topnotch product. Down the line a mini play-off could be created with the non-BCS leagues, were the two highest ranked champions play for a guaranteed spot in a BCS Bowl. That would work for me.

D1, New Balance come in white...and you just use a permanent marker to draw the "swoosh"...life is easy.
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Did everyone get a load of Dara's scream? Wow! You'd make a good neighborhood mom that yells at all da kids fo stop playing and go home! Late already!
BTW- Dara, Das you in the commercial yelling fo Phylis, asking what she going bring to the potluck?
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Gigi--
I once owned SAS sandals. I heard they were really good....until one day the sandals literally got melted onto my foot, and I had to peel them off my foot, and my whole front of the foot was black. I took a picture of it because I thought that was the funniest thing, and I threw that sandals away. If I find that picture, I'll ask Steve to post it.
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:45 pm
haha, Wena, you have HOT feet!
maybe, you kept them for too long? How long did you have them? And how long did you wear them that day?
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Good discussion going...
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Georgia has had their seventh arrest of the off season. This time it was a 3rd string DE who punched a guy and broke the guy's eye socket. He's been suspended.
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:49 pm
addahknowjoe - thanks for the message, I told my boss and stopped playing phone tag.

July 3rd, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Aloha Tsaikos-
I know I haven't been very good about posting to the blog, but I want you all to know that I think about the Tsaikos often, and even though I've never met any of you in person, I know that this place is a place of refuge for me in the helter skelter world of work that I live in. It always amazes me to think about what the past 2 years of Warrior football has done... It's brought people together, and has been a boon for Hawaii in this time of rising gas prices, inflation, flatulation, and a lot of people being out of work... but this... this group has been the place where we all come together and dish about how much we love something... So to Master Tsai, I say thank you, and to the others out there who take the care enough to read the comments, "tanks eh?" Here's to another great season!
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th. goodnyte.

Wena,
I'll keep that in mind. Hope it doesn't happen to me.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:23 pm
All the Georgia players are in trouble because they are ROID RAGING! They need to get off the poi. Get them all tested right now.

HEY! It brought me back to the bottom of the blog when it posted. Does that mean that the puzzle of the "comment redirect" has been solved?
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:29 pm
NOPE! Went back to the top on my 2nd post.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:31 pm
And my 3rd post was redirected to the bottom. Don't have enough time to keep testing this out!!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Good afternoon Tsaikonians.
Thank you homey proxy for representing me.
Dara - Taking game stats, that's one thing as a bench player I hated to do. I would draw things on the stat sheets and miss some of the action. Hope to hear you soon!
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Aloha Gang -
ST-
Just a HUUGE Mahalo to you for this awesome Blog that includes the most valuable info and photos we could ever ask for.

July 3rd, 2008 at 3:36 pm
BG - the code is supposed to redirect you to where you were last or to the bottom if you submitted a comment. Sometimes it doesn't appear to be working correctly only because the page is still reloading.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:36 pm
...And Happiest 4th of July. Keep our Keiki's safe.

AAAAAAAAAAAAH! GO DARA!
I know I've heard about the UA shoes before, from Barry and some others. They have to continue working on that, I guess; they are pretty new to the cleat business.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:38 pm
A-Joe - did you have fun sorting through the 100's of pictures A-Sports took yesterday?
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Interesting shirt Ryan Henry is wearing. Must be a high school shirt.

July 3rd, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Is the UH logo copyrighted?
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Pomai: Yes.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Pomai . . .
That is why you do not see the "H" or the circular UH logo on any of the Tsai-ko marked items. Do not want to get into hot water with the UH and NCAA.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:25 pm
homey, do you know the Florendo's from Waipahu?

Any one know if this is true?
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:56 pm
FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!
Why is it taking forever for my 8-day weekend to start?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Man I can't wait for the next week!!!
-Camping this weekend North Shore side.
-Tsaiko BLOG BASH!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:58 pm
I think Garret posted that link, too.
Sounds like it's true — and a perfect fit.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Kawika,
I saw that around the net too...
2009 could be another year to hope for a good season.
We'll have an offense that should be really comfortable by then and while we will be loosing great leaders on defense, the future at linebackers looks good with Paipai Falemalu and hopefully a certain Punahou son.... ***ahem***
In 09 we got road games at UNLV and at Wazzu and home games against Navy and Wisconsin. To me, all four look "do-able". Not to mention Fresno State looks to be rebuliding in 09 and Boise State will still be a young team and we will have them both at home.
Those JC recruits could be pretty well-seasoned by 2009.
2009 looks good to me so far...
BUT
First things are first.
2008!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Kazz baby, I da get bikini all ready for you to pick me up. and no worry. I going lomilomi you all 8 days with happy ending.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Jason:
I've got a photo of the UA shoes that I'll upload (download?) tomorrow.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:03 pm
ST,
By perfect fit do you mean, like... if things really gel together this year and we have momentum coming into 2009, get ready to save some kala for some "bowling" in January???
Like I mentioned at #138, I like the possibilities for 2009.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I all ready for the blog bash too! Koakane said he going pick me up.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Koa-mahu,
Like go sleep? U konna p out for a while if you like.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Upload.
And too bad about Kenny Patton. Again. But that's how it is; everybody is bigger, faster, stronger. Even a great athlete like Patton can find it hard to stick around in an NFL camp.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Fine! sistah out! *snap*
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:06 pm
ST,
Did UA send someone to scan everyone's feet to create "custom" shoes for each player like the article in the HA during Spring Ball mentioned a while back?
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Jason... Shoot me an e-mail with your number. I need to ask you something for the bash.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Koa-mahu,
Eh no get mad, like I said da last time... "I no like buy sweet bread".
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:09 pm

July 3rd, 2008 at 5:11 pm
So we have the AWH clan, the False Clan, and ??? the Koakane??? Clan... That is funny... LMAO!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:13 pm
only on the Warrior Beat...
When we talk about Bulla and his family we call them the "Bulla's"...
same with the "Addahknow's", and the "SteveM's"... Which makes me think...
UNKO! UNKO! UNKO!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Wreck,
Ah... No can dat kine.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:14 pm
If it is too expensive to be part of the PAC10 then why are we even in the WAC? The WAC should be bankrupt since "Hawaii" is a member and cost too much for everybody go over to Hawaii. We should build up our program to be a top notch power house then quit the WAC and become independant like Notre Dame and Navy. Make it us against the whole mainland.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:17 pm
WreckinEyez: I no get your e-mail. I'm updating my Address Book, remember? Everyone is supposed to send me their preferred e-mail address. You gotta e-mail me, jnagaoka (at) hawaii.rr.com.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Good point trashouts,
Everyone likes to talk about maybe joining the pac-10 and we have heard all the sides to that issue.
What are the issues surrounding Hawaii becoming independent is something that I would like to read about. I'm not saying that is a good idea or bad but would like to see it be talked about...
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Trashout,
In MANY ways, it will always be and has been (for a real long time) Hawaii vs The U.S. Mainland (perception of NCAA athletics).
Perhaps inclusion to a BCS conference could change this, but I will never hold my breath anymore.
Whatever is the best for us will be the best.
Everyone else can go try poke squid by Pali Longs.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Kazz . . .
Poke squid.
I have not heard that in forever. Of course, living up here how would I hear things like that?
HA!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Wreck,
The first thing that comes to mind about Hawaii going independent is trying to fill a 12/13-game schedule as opposed to 3-4 non-conference games a season.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Wafan,
Another one I haven't heard or seen in a longtime since I was in grade school is: "spak".
I had to have my dad's friend explain this one to me.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Pride - I think it's time you get better reliable sources. I sat on the bench so long that my butt looks like wood grain.
MeiLing - That name doesn't ring a bell. But then again I wasn't in school much and I probably only recognize a few names. Anyway, after awhile all Filipino last names sound alike...Ignacio, Bonafacio, Pistacio...
Time to head out to Manoa. Special duty tonight. I will be in the Woodland area.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:37 pm
"spock" you guys laters.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:40 pm
SPOCK - pidgin
SPA'AHK - Hawaiian
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:42 pm
***OFF-TOPIC***
Can anyone confirm that the easiest way to clean tako (just caught) is with a washing machine?
The "side-ways" circular ones.
-No soap, no nothing, just the water and have it go through the cycles...
No I am not kidding. I heard this from a co-worker.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Kazz - Hawaiian no mo "s".
Not many people bring a washing machine with them when they go poke tako.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Okay, uniform on...I'm outta here.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Kazz,
I dunno about cleaning the tako, but the best way to tenderize it is throw it hard against the side of the sink about 10 times. No joke. It is written is some recipes for Spanish octopus (pulpo) tapas. Da odda way is to freeze it.
Will people quit talking about going independent!! It ain't gonna happen and trying to fill out a schedule nowadays is way too hard. Doesn't anyone remember that UH used to play non-collegiate teams? The teams with a longer schedule like volleyball, baseball & basketball will never be able to fill out a full schedule. Wanna have them travel the whole season?!!
OK off to dinner at Rah Rah Ramen in Kailua. Never been there before. Laterz.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Newsday is running a poll on which player should be the next point guard for the Knicks.
I voted for Anthony Carter, giving him eight votes.
http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/ny-spknix0704,0,1813466.story
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Kazz . . .
When we get the large tako up here we freeze them -- solid for a few days. Once they are thawed out you do not have to work as hard, if at all, to soften them up.
If you do use a front-loading washing machine be sure to run a couple loads of bleach and soad through before putting any clothing in! Nothing is more annoying than having cats follow you everywhere.
Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Oh, and the suckers tend to break off in the washing machine. So you would have to pick them off the walls of the basket. HA!
Hey, not that I was the one that tried this method. One of my friends from the Big Island did. Boy his wife was upset with him for weeks! All i could do was laugh and enjoy a very tender tako.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:18 pm
10th! (for A.C.)
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Kazz,
Back the days, my father used to rub salt on the tako and indeed threw them in the washer to tenderize and get the slime of the tako.
The easiest way though is to lomi with hawaiian salt to get the slim off, rinse, cut the tako in bite size pieces, salt and flour and deep fry. Very tender.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:23 pm
There was a nice little workout today.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Tight end Jeremy Stevens worked out with the Warriors today.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:37 pm
mauiwarrior
that was addressed earlier. see post #28 and #32.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Tsai-Meister,
Did the Buc's TE Stevens teach our boys a few tricks of the trade? The Buc's training camp starts soon, he's taking a nice little vacation before the heat of camp goes full swing.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Hmmm...
I'm wondering if Coach Malloe is having to drop-off TE Stevens at all of his stops here?
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:51 pm
from the Bucs site
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:07 pm
My Pops retrieved an old wringer washing machine that still worked but had clearly seen better days. Some friends wanted to dump it because they felt it was too old to sell, but had to make room for their new one. Back in those days, Pops and I worked as a team diving and spearing at all our secret spots around Oahu that we knew would yield a fair amount of Tako. We tried not to take too many from each spot, and ho'o pahu'a the area.
We would then 'clean' the Tako, and run the whole animal thru a short wash cycle in the old washing machine. When it stopped, we took it and ran it thru the wringer to tenderize it. Prolly, some of you younger folks may never have seen a 'wringer' attachment to an older model washer. It is simply two large rollers that are very similar to a rolling pin. Some had a smaller motor that turned the rollers as you fed the item thru, thus wringing it dry. Some had a manual hand crank.
After that, it was salted, lomi'ed and then cut to smaller pieces to eat raw, cook dry, or deep fry. Cleaning and pounding squid the old fashioned way was labor intensive. This 'revolutionary' way was much easier when working with 50 to 150 Tako for a Luau. Time is always of the essence when prepping for a Luau.
Next session, we will cover the preparation of the pig for the imu. Stay tuned.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:08 pm
know it's Jerramy.
Shhhh...
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:08 pm
All I know is Stevens is a pretty large dude.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:13 pm
One thing I really appreciate about the new site is the code that formats for the iPhone. Makes it easier to check in on the go.
The PAC-10 has a remarkable symmetry. It would be a shame to ruin it with further expansion.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
From here where its already the 4th,
Happy Fourth/4th of July!
Be safe and have fun!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:28 pm
I'm not sure I want a "gentleman" like Jerramy Stevens around the team. And I use the term "gentleman" broadly.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Having a solid NFL player stopping by UH to work out is pretty sweet.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Feature article on Karl Dorrell, who went from being the head coach at UCLA to being the WR coach with the Dolphins. He will have a significant part in deciding whether or not Bess makes the team and if Bess gets any playing time or not if he does make the team.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Interesting analysis of Miami's roster and who will be expected to make the team. This part of the analysis is not good, since if Miami keeps only 1 FB they will likely keep Grigsby since he's a key special teams player. However, other projections have Miami keeping 2 FBs, which would be good for Reagan.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Not too surprising that a big factor in a WR getting a roster spot would be how well he does as a returner. Bess is very elusive, but I hope that he got over the problem of letting punts drop and roll instead of catching them. At least Bess should make the practice squad, and he has a good shot at the active roster...that is great for an undrafted free agent rookie!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Looks like the starting guard (Smiley will be the other starting guard) will end up as Samson's backup at center.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Really sad to hear about Kenny Patton. It is hard to make a roster as an undrafted free agent, and the numbers just didn't work out for him.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:00 pm
My friend Susan is simply an awesome cook and I am *still* stuffed from dinner (which started 4+ hours ago!). I don't feel this way after Todai or other buffets...but I probably ate more today than I did at any Cattle Call. The funny thing is that the family we are staying with are vegetarians, but nobody in my family missed meat or fish with all of the awesome food that was served!
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Justin,
I agree with you that it would be "sweet" but like Jason, I think maybe a little more discretion might be used in determining what really constitutes "solid"
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Evening Tsaikos!
Just back from dinner @ Rai Rai Ramen in Kailua. Ono! Had miso ramen, gyoza & rice. Finished up with tea from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
Good luck to Amber Kaufman tomorrow as she tries to make the Olympic team.

Re-PAC-10 expansion
source-http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/8291620/Pac-10-and-its-expansion-options
quotes-
Among the non-BCS schools, only Utah, Hawaii, and Colorado State are "Research Universities with Very High Research Activity."
Next is the much-ballyhooed 'research institution' problem. It is widely reported that the Pac-10 will only invite a fellow research school to its ranks.
This is good.
And my wish-
Now if we can find a huge sponsor that can spread the propaganda that UH should be the forerunner for the opening should the PAC-10 expand then this would work favorably if UH should apply for admission. Somebody (or company) that has the resources, mainly money and political friendliness with the other schools, would be what UH needs (my opinion) more so to be considered.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:27 pm
ESPN is running a poll fo da face of our program. We know who da 1000+ Colt autograph seekers on Saturday gonna vote for brah...
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/face/team?teamId=62
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:27 pm
The coaches should be advised to keep Stevens away from the Warriors. Stevens is a complete jerk. He "graduated" from the high school where I teach, damaging school property (denied doing it even with witnesses and never paid for any of it) and nearly killed a kid with a baseball bat a few weeks before school ended. He wiggled out of the charges because he was the local sports star, and was still able to keep his scholarship to the University of Washington. While at the UW he continued to expand his criminal activities with DUI's, fleeing the scene of an accident, and rape. He was the "star" so charges were always taken care of.
He was drafted by the Seahawks and continued to be immature. Holmgren gave him a contract that included behavior standards. Thankfully, the Seahawks finally got rid of him but not before he threw a months long temper tantrum where he continued to drop passes that hit him in the hands.
So, while Colt overcame the stories of his one error, Stevens always managed to escape unharmed with nary a thing said of his continued indescresions.
His sister Jameka was in one of my classes. A good kid. It was difficult to believe they are both of the same gene pool. Too bad she could not work things out with the coaches.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:29 pm
kekoa.....i no need know how fo' prepare da pig for the imu. jus' call me when time fo' eat!!!
i grew up next door to one hawaiian family who made kalua pig twice a year. i would awaken to the smell of the pig and knew it was time to pay aunty one visit. like clockwork she would have one bowl of pig with the best skin parts waiting for me.
ah.....make memories.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:33 pm
the pork ribs barbequed at Liz's Rotary Club bash were excellent! Crispy skin and tender meat. Very tasty.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Kekoa, I used to have a wringer washer when I lived in the Ozarks. No tako tho...
Making me hungry all the talk about fuud.
wafan, It does sound like Stevens is someone we wouldn't want around the team. I wonder what Coach Mack would do?
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
MeiLing,
WWCMD?
Hmmm...maybe a path to a higher football consciousness?
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Well i guess Stevens might have a questionable character, but there is no doubting that he is physically talented and he may have some pointers for our warriors.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:10 pm
jm2375- your dinner sounds ono. I love miso ramen. The first and only place I have tried it is a little place in Waikiki around the corner from the big Aston hotel.
wafan- here's hoping Stevens has matured and turned over a new leaf.
expat- glad to hear someting good about the iPhone and the blog. I may have to migrate back (with the big stylus to help my poor typing) to one if my boss acually does migrate to Mac in the spring.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Justin,
He may have a good idea now that it's a good idea to avoid a knee to the groin.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 pm
liz,
Not to beat a dead horse (and I know you are always trying to find the good side) but it doesn't appear to be the case.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:24 pm

Homey #117

July 3rd, 2008 at 9:36 pm
True story about the Mac --
I emailed my newsletter to someone who had a Mac. When she emailed the same doc to others, it came out with all kinds of codes and arrows -- completely different from what I had sent her.
Apparently, the Mac system is not compatible with PCs.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Kden...time to pop a beer and put on the UH vs AZ State game.
Play nicely and I'll look for everyone in the morning.
BG
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:38 pm
d1, perhaps. But I swear those ribs tasted so much better than the ones at Tony Roma.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Liz,
No miso ramen on Kauai? It's a staple on the menu at all the ramen shops around here. This place was definitely better than the one I've been going to in Manoa. When you're here sometime, let me know and I'll take you to this other place that serves a spicy ramen called piri kara. It's right on Keeaumoku St.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Homey - the page reloading doesn't seem to be the problem
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:42 pm
d1...too funny. you noticed that one too.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:43 pm
JM, somebody mentioned that there was a ramen shop on Keeaumoku, but when I looked for it, I couldn't find it. What is it called and where precisely is it located?
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Hi
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:53 pm
I am speaking for about 11 Tsaikos... right now
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Gigi, da saimin shop on Keeaumoku is called Botoichi.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Okay got to go make some shot glasses...
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:57 pm
WreckinEyez: I thought you were going to call me?
Ramen, I had some today. Went with my Mom to Yotteko-ya at McCully Shopping Center. It was only my second time there, but it's already cemented itself in my mind as the best ramen shop I've been to.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
It's right across from Wal Mart.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Botoichi -- is it located near Ala Moana Center or further up the street? Going toward the Center, is it on the right or left side of the street?
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Hi Jason. Did you have practice with the Moanalua Math Team today? I heard from Maryanne that you like body massages.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 pm
quickie...
BG - what browser and version are you using? This time I'm almost certain it is not the blog software causing your inconsistencies.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 pm
well, in the meantime, I'll stick with Shiro's Saimin. They are open from 8 am to 10 pm.
great place to have an early brunch.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Right hand side of Keeaumoku, right across from Wal Mart if you go Mauka. I like eating at Botoichi. I think you like eating there too!!! Good dashi there.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:04 pm
gigi - only guys have experienced that ramen shop.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 pm

July 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Hi there homey. I've heard sooooooo much about you. Do you eat at Botoichi too?? I really like Botoichi.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
I meant the right side going makai.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Gigi,
I'm talking about Taishoken. It's right across the street from McDonald's, right next to a nail salon. I think there's parking in the back. It's a little hole-in-the-wall. Probably seats 25-30. If anyone wants to go for lunch, I'm always up for it.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:08 pm
jm2375- I don't think we have a ramen shop. Only Hamuras and Pho Kauai. There might be something on the north or east side but those parts a not oft traveled by myself
oh- BODYMASSAGE- I like the Pho place across from WalMart- i think the ramen place is next door, eh? The one in Waikiki fried up a bunch of veggies before adding the noodles. Mmmm. Had a smoky miso flavor.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Hubby and I are taking Mom to Town Restaurant in Kaimuki on Sunday, our 1st time there. Hope it doesn't disappoint...
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm

July 3rd, 2008 at 11:55 pm
GORG915,
Howzit. You in TX?
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:57 pm
I think it is freaking disgusting that we would celebrate Jerramy "Rapist" Stevens being associated IN ANY WAY with the Warriors. Do people not remember the article Garret posted about this disgusting punk? If so, please refresh your memory about this scumbag:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004147460_rbstevens270.html
For the record the fans in Tampa hate this guy:
http://www.firejerramystevens.com/
Finally, Coach Malloe, you better get YOURSELF straight. You were under a cloud yourself at UW and there were people here who questioned your hire. Deference was given to Coach Mack at that time, but I really wonder now if that was a mistake. WTF are you doing associating with a punk like this?
DO NOT BRING THIS KIND OF TRASH AROUND THE WARRIORS. WTF are you thinking?
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:58 pm
d1,
yup, beats the 2000 Isuzu Trooper that got about 11mpg.
plus the floor was covered in broken pieces of donuts
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:58 pm
las vegas,
So will you be back at Wal-Mart McD's at 0500?
July 4th, 2008 at 12:02 am
las vegas,
Yeah. I much prefer the crumbs of manju on the floor of my Honda.
Stick with the gas mileage story. (even if you gotta push dat buggah around!)
July 4th, 2008 at 12:03 am
WarriorMojo,
You gotta work on letting us know how you REALLY feel...
July 4th, 2008 at 12:10 am
d1shima - I just hate when WM is ambiguous and we have to decipher what he is trying to convey.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:13 am
d1,
Mrs LV wi wake at 0430 and leave for work at 0530
I go to the clinic by 0600 and go to work in the pm, so if lucky only get beaten for an hour today
July 4th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Thank you WarriorMojo, I knew there was something else bugging me about Stevens' visit and that was Malloe's history. Just like you said, I wasn't sure about the hire but I embraced it in deference to Coach Mack. But if he's going to do things like associate with Jerramy Stevens, then that makes me question his judgment.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:19 am
Mojo, You do have a point that Husky fans are still burning from their Stevens era. It is fair to question Coach Malloe's judgement, but I wouldn't challenge Malloe as a person. In my limited dealing...very limited...with Coach Malloe, I found him to be a pleasant gentleman. I played college ball with some guys that were jerks, that turned out ok once they were humbled by the real world. So I will continue to hold the current version of Coach Malloe with high respect. Also in this regard, I tend to trust Coach McMackin's good judgement in hiring...he doesn't want to poison the well. Now my first impression last week of new Coach Alex Gerke were just the opposite when he question my right to take photos at the airport of the UH Coaches departure. My response in front of Rolo, Mac & Coach Brian Smith was..."I shoot for the Samoa News and with an attitude like that may I need to send your photo to American Samoa Immigration so your deportation can be expedited." Well...Rolo, Mac, and Brian Smith knew I was kidding...

I'm watching the Olympic trials and there are some men competing in the steeplechase. Isn't that a horse race? And why the name steeplechase? I don't see any churches. They are just running around a track.

Barry, I have to disagree with you re Coach Malloe. I cannot respect someone with judgment that poor. I'm not totally down on him yet, but he's pretty much down to his last strike. Is that unfair? Possibly, but this is not being buddies with your boyz from the hood anymore. I am not willing to assume that Coach Malloe will exercise bad judgment in one area of life but not any others. Jerramy Stevens is scum! Look at this chronology:
http://www.firejerramystevens.com/rapsheet.htm
Here's another anti-Jerramy Stevens site:

I am one die-hard, lifelong Hawaii fan who will NOT put up with this stuff. Period.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Mojo,
I admit I wasn't real up to speed on Stevens' story; just remember news briefs and read the wikipedia version earlier this evening.
After reading the Seattle Times story thoroughly I totally agree; this guy is pilau.
Malloe should apologize for bringing him around and answer to Mack for the thinking behind his actions.
Stephen,
Stay on this please.

thanks for the article warriormojo, i concur with your opinion wholeheartedly...women always seem to be on the short end of probes, could it be because most of the investigators, prosecutors, judges, etc were male and the primary female prosecutor was dropped from case.

Well, for what it's worth...
We celebrate another year of the grand experiment that was started 232 years ago.
A salute to those brave and wise men who signed their names in spite of the personal danger they faced.
And a prayer for all those since who gave all to make sure it still means something.

Mojo and D1...I really respect and like you guys...and usually I am the first to get angry at situations where our kids could get contaminated. Maybe I am actually getting really old and soft headed. Maybe I am getting more forgiving (hard to do when I am an Old Testament kine guy). Maybe, still being influenced by Coach LizK, I am trying to find more good, than bad, in others. Or, just possibly Guava was right all so long ago when he said I really don't know a darn thing. Ok, I did my "peace, love, and granola" thing. I sang Kumbaya tonite. I now defer the matter to the Tsaiko Justice Committee...

guilty! we can't foretell the future but I do hope no one dies before society and our legal system reflect back and think maybe we should have done it differently...NFl suspension is lame, put him into counseling, finish the program before being readmitted to the NFL.

Central Arkansas was DII in 2005....it's like playing Northern Colorado and Charleston Southern. Sad to say, we have a return game with Charleston Southern in a few years.
Mac approved and wanted the game with a DIAA. hello Mac, heat stroke bro, to much
Samoan sun, kona wind bothering you, up grade the schedule or you'll putting fans in the seats much more difficult without Colt and the 4 dread heads.

You guys still at it?
July 4th, 2008 at 2:25 am
You say tough schedule in 2009- kidding of course, WAC plus Navy, Washington State and UNLV. Count Boise, Fresno, Nevada and Wisconsin as legitimate foes. Four out of a possible 13 teams are winning programs or respectable opponents.
Clapp in charge of scheduling! you mean JD turned over negotiating games to HF's understudy for future games....ever wonder why the schedule isn't complete for 09 and beyond...What have we learned?
July 4th, 2008 at 2:26 am
I noticed in ST's writeup that he was dropped off. Sounds like his license is still suspended. I wouldn't want my kids anywhere near this guy. Guilty.

99club how many citations and how often must a driver be changed with DUI or under the influence of an intoxicant (pakalolo) to lose one's driver's license.
I wonder if Malloe was one of the players who went to court to show support for Stevens during the rape trial...Malloe has a wife and daughter, he should feel more compassion for the plight of the female student...not going to trial doesn't make him innocent...
July 4th, 2008 at 2:33 am
Martha Stewart should have gone to jail a lot longer for illegal insider trading. Our twins are above board and linked to Martha Stewart would lower their aura.

If anyone worries about our team playing in cold weather this year...the November games actually should be nice since both games are in the daytime. At worst is should only be in the 50's. I'm thinking the Boise St. game will probably be the coldest.

Ralph,
I don't know what the laws are in FL, but in TX it's automatic 2 yrs if you either refuse the breathalyzer or are convicted of DUI. According the the link posted above, his last alcohol-related incident was less than 2 years ago.
July 4th, 2008 at 2:40 am
Utah will be cold for them in November esp. if there is a chill factor. Any lakes or river close to the stadium, that really drops the temperature.
