Colt gives back
By Stephen Tsai
Despite not having a contract with the Washington Redskins yet, Colt Brennan is donating $1,000 to Na Koa, the UH football team's booster club.

Except during games, Keala Watson is a gentleman.
He is a husband.
He is a church leader.
He helps friends in need.
Still, while on the field he might be Warren Sapp, off the field he is not a sap.
So, really, the person who "borrowed" his new Under Armour shoes should bring them back. No questions asked. Before he gets mad.

From UH associate AD John McNamara:
The posters and schedule cards for UH football, women’s volleyball, and women’s soccer will be arriving in our office on Tuesday, July 15. We really want to ensure maximum circulation, so we’re hoping to recruit some fans to help distribute them to various restaurants, bars, businesses, etc.
If someone would like to assist us, please contact Cha-Cha Kinilau (Kinilau@hawaii.edu) in the UH marketing department. She will make arrangements for the volunteers to pick up the necessary quantity of posters and schedule cards. We’ll ask them to provide us their distribution points, so we can make sure we’re not missing an area or covering it twice.
Thought some members of your Blog group would be interested in helping out.

On a side note, one of our readers described McNamara as "funny" and "cool." I could see the "cool" party (Gordon Gecko hair, trophy wife), but I wasn't so sure about the "funny" part. After all, his best friend is Mr. Straight-and-Narrow, Karl Benson. So, we made him tell us a joke yesterday, and he is indeed funny.

Iceland is green and Greenland is icy, and someone who uses the handle Addahknowsports really is very knowledgable. Addahknowsports, the better half of the Addaknows, is smart, funny and a stickler for dart rules (DO NOT STEP ACROSS THE LINE). Meet Addahknowsports:
Just call me Addahknowsports
I never imagined I'd be writing an autobiography for a football blog the reason being I don't really know anything about sports. Growing up I never especially liked contact sports as I have a very low tolerance for pain. Hated P. E. in school. Dodgeball...yuck. Volleyball...sprained my fingers every time I played. Basketball...got hit in the head a few times too many. So growing up, I simply avoided them. Although my parents dragged me to high school football games when I was young, I never went to a football game when I was old enough to attend high school. When I got to college, I did buy student season tickets my first semester there, but didn't know enough about the game to appreciate it. Instead, I gravitated to other non-contact activities.
I enjoy the outdoors and growing up on Kauai, I had my full share. Every day after school and before it got dark was spent playing with the other neighborhood kids. We rode our bikes, climbed trees, traipsed through the cane fields and scooped up fish in irrigation ditches in the valley. I have very strong memories of going fishing up the river with my family in my dad's little boat or at the pier. My mom would always meet up with us at some point with musubi, chicken wings and carrot sticks. Good memories.
Today, I still love the outdoors, I love science, I love to design and create. Growing up with a mom who was an art teacher as well as an artist, I was ingrained with an appreciation for the visual arts. I am good with my hands (Tsaikos, if you make any wisecracks about this remark, you will feel my lead hand and foot) and enjoy creating things sculptural. Everything is a medium with which to work and every experience is an idea for creation. Within the last few years I have embraced glass as a medium and create jewelry and miniature sculptural pieces.
My Oddah Half
After I graduated from college with a degree in art, I went to work at a sign company in Kalihi. It was there that I met addahknowjoe. He had a passion for life, a deep compassion for people and a penchant for sports. Although I could not fully appreciate his love of sports, I could appreciate the sense of humor that accompanied the detailed stories of his youthful sports days. One of our first activities as a couple (which had I also not had a decent sense of humor could have ended it right there) was when I asked him to spend the day and go around the island with me. He told me no, but never said why. Later I found out that the 49ers were playing and he wanted to watch. He confessed later that it was a really tough decision, but when his favorite team started losing and couldn't bear to see them get spanked, he turned off the tv and called to say he would go riding with me. Talk about being confused.
He enjoys going to high school football games especially if an outer island team is in town to play. Most times I (reluctantly) get to accompany him. Once someone gave me tickets to a UH vs Notre Dame football game. He cheered 'til he was hoarse. I fell asleep through two rounds of "the wave". A-joe is very patient and is always willing to explain what is happening in the game.
What's a Tsaiko?
In December of 2006, a-joe asks me to go with him to a football blog party. Oh no, not again! He told me it's not just about football, it was about people who are sharing their lives on-line and this is the first time that they were going to meet face to face. Reluctantly, again, I said okay. I didn't think I would have anything to say. At the party, I happened to sit next to WreckinEyez and across gigi-Hawaii. I met a lot of very nice people despite me being very quiet and shy. And I thought that was the end of that.
Then one day last year, he asked me if I wanted to go to Vegas... My eyes lit up! ...to watch a football game. Huh? Are you kidding me? But I went anyway. I never regretted a moment of it. I got to meet a wonderful bunch of people who were so excited about the same thing. The excitement was electric and the camaraderie was infectious. I got to hear Rich2176's career adventure, got to ride with 99club who shared his stories, I got to sit next to Brew808 who drew me in even more with his quick, no-shame-just-say sense of humor, and I got to make friends with this awesomely incredible bunch of people...which leads me up to today.
Since that (memorable for me) UNLV game in Las Vegas, I have met more Tsaikos and Tsaikettes. Thanks to the foresight and planning skills of the Tsaiko Ohana, I have participated in activities that have included but are not limited to numerous Cattle Calls, Tsaiko-gates, EIS meetings, Karaoke Calls, movie night, darts (which feeds my affinity for projectile-related things), craps, eventually pool and bowling and poker, the Five F's with fishing included as the sixth F. Finally, thanks to ST I am addicted to this dang blog. lol.
We are on the threshold of the anniversary of a living, growing entity born out of passion, commitment and a basic love for ones' fellow (wo)man. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this. I have learned in life that you are never too old to learn something new. I want to understand what my newfound friends see in UH Warrior Football and possibly connect with my husband on a new level. I hope in the future, I will be able to contribute perspective and insight of my own and give back to what you all have given me.

HiHo!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:26 am
Asports, you and I are so much alike as far as sports go, it's scary! Not too good with my hands, though, you got me beat. Love the book mark and pendant you gave me.
How long have you and Joe been married? What a dream couple!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:37 am
I know addahknowsports.
Good job! Funny but I wonder how involved with this blog you would be if Joe didn't e-mail me all those years ago. Life would be different perhaps. Hmmm.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:40 am
I want a poster! Make that plural – posters. Hope Mr. Watson gets his shoes back, too.

hey, Satele's dog looks like the one I had in New York. Mine thought she was a human and would walk around on her hind legs. Lani also loved to eat freshly cooked macaroni.

Good Morning Tsaiko Family!

July 9th, 2008 at 7:50 am
gigi,
when you talk about a dog, a black dog, and then mention macaroni, that might get Homey's taste buds going so early in the morning.
just a thought...
July 9th, 2008 at 7:51 am
haha, I thought homey eats rice, not mac.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:53 am
Addaknow: Thank you for your bio. Joe is one lucky guy. Looking forward to seeing you both tomorrow.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:54 am
good to see Maiava getting to start at USC, they list him as 6' and 230 lbs. as the Weakside Linebacker. he has some BIG shoes to fill, but let's celebrate a local boy doing good.
on another note, a former UH Rainbow Warrior, Bernard Cravalho has thrown his hat into the ring as a mayoral candidate for Kauai. he has the support from the former mayor's wife, and used to be the mayor's campaign manager. good luck to all.
what do you think LizK? i see Yukimura is jumping into the fracas also, a big question for her will be when the citizens of kauai ask her about Hurricane Iniki and the shortcomings of her leadership.....just a thought from a 'townie' in honolulu.
have a great day Tsaikos........the clock is ticking.......
July 9th, 2008 at 7:55 am
19th!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:57 am
A-Sports ~ You have hit the bullseye on this one! I salute you for giving us a glimpse of your passion for the finer things in life. Most of us guys are hoping that you continue in that vain...PLEASE!
Why?...because once you go down that path of learning and you complete the crash course on football, us guys are in real trouble. We will have to keep our heads on a swivel and look out for the 'headslap' that you will surely learn to deliver with as much force as your 'lead' foot.
Koakane is still suffering from PTSD after being punished for his foot fault during a recent dart competition. He drinks more and mumbles stuff like, "eh! no step my feet brah!" and yet there is nobody near him!
As for me, I don't look forward to being institutionalized for brain damage. So, can we talk?
July 9th, 2008 at 7:57 am
gigi,
i thought about that also, but my connection was mac-gruff to mac-aroni. i know it is a stretch, but oh well.
speaking about Stretch, (wasn't that a cool transition), BIG MAHALOS to you bro for all you've been doing to make the Blog Bash not crash. you are so generous, mahalo bro.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:58 am
tom mui,
looking forward to seeing you my friend, it will be a memorable night, a classic night, a Tsaiko benchmark if you will. and we'll have fun too......
July 9th, 2008 at 8:00 am
DPK and Homey,
after reading about the 5 F's, and potential 6th F, i have to forewarn you both that we will not have the 7th F that you are considering. i can feel the might brain waves that you are generating, but as I sit here in my chair at my desk at my home waiting for Aunty Lyn to put on her war paint, i mean make up....
this will be official...FLATULENCE will never make it to our beloved F family.
nuf sed
July 9th, 2008 at 8:03 am
Kekoa,
is that PSTD any by product of his STD he keeps mumbling about....... i keep hearing him chant, '...it wasn't me....it wasn't me....it wasn't me....' sounds like a rap song i hear last week about the sofa, the kitchen, the bathroom....maybe i'll ask him tomorrow night to explain further.
by the way, got your email, mahalos plenty, you hit da buggah square on top of da head.....good job.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:04 am
ok,
enough of my tirade, off to da office to protect the natives from the tourists......and RIMPAC, haha.

A-sports--
I love your bio. When Steve told me that you have a bio this morning, I couldn't wait to get to work to read it. Wow! You are an interesting person. And after you and I go to the football clinic, we will finally be able to talk the lingo...you know...wide out, running snap, quarterback, safety, and whatever everyone else is talking about. One day....
To all the other Tsai-kos out there--
See you tomorrow at the bash. I'm really looking forward to the entertainment and listening to my favorite "Kanaka Wai Wai"
Also am looking forward to meeting the faces behind the names.
To the Mianos--
Congratulations!!
July 9th, 2008 at 8:27 am
there is a committee, not just me. Everyone's been working hard getting things set up.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Wena ~ As Esme would "omigooness!" Football lingo. ST will have his hands full for sure now...hehehe.
I know you are going to enjoy the bash, the band, and the whole Tsaiko experience. I'll bet you always knew ST was a real family man, you just never knew he had this much family in him.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:35 am

July 9th, 2008 at 9:53 am
A-sports,
AWESOME bio!
Like stretch, I am glad I don't have to follow yours.
You and a-joe are prime examples of what makes this group so special.
Mahalo.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:56 am
great bio addahknowsports. i actually thought you were a huge sports fan because of your name. the section about addahknowjoe and the 49ers game was too funny.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:57 am
djmitcho - let me know time/place when I gotta sign up for the draft
July 9th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Eh-Sports . . .
Awesome biography. A decidedly fortunate turn of events for one not that into sports. A-joe is such a lucky guy! And now we know exactly why he is always smiling!!! Your openness to join him in his love of sports is definitely one of the keys.
Whoo-hoo!
July 9th, 2008 at 9:58 am
oooh.. what kine toy, Stretch??? What, you nevah wait for iPhoneG3?
July 9th, 2008 at 9:58 am
*gulp, be brave* I admire women with good hands and a strong gripe. Come to think of it, many men would too! I've also seen some of those sculptural pieces you may have "handled".
Nah, A-Sports, you and A-Joe are tied with many others in being the bestest! As koakane is honored to have you as his Darts pahtnah, I am honored and blessed to have you as my "crab, no touch my hamachi" pahtnah. Thank you so much for using those gifted hands and fingers in making the priceless hand engraved with gold leaf lettering rare tiger koa from the deep rainforest of the Big Island instructional placement fits only me chopsticks.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:59 am
btw, I like wat the tekkies have done recently. Much bettah on my Tilt now.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Aiyah who would take somebody's shoes and no give back. Wow pilau style dat, use the shoes make um all hauna and then no give back. If I was Keala I wouldn't take em back I make dat buggah buy me one new pair...dirty rat!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Liz - trying to set up the new phone (Verizon XV6800) but everything is going over my head. Too much instructions. Unlike ST who can still use his old camera because he is too lazy to read instructions, my old phone is dead so I am stuck with this. BTW - I suggested to ST that he put the instructions in the bathroom so he can read while going No 2.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:06 am
trashouts,
IDK if he like get 'em back aftah sombuddy use 'em fo' workout...hauna!
Still, not cool fo' "borrow" though.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:08 am

July 9th, 2008 at 10:10 am
bulla.....today you were in fine form.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Stretch . . .
I just got a new phone. I insisted on a phone that actually allowed me to make phone calls. They tried to sell me a phone, a web browser, and I do not remember what else. I kept insisting, though. Finally, the sales guy gave up and asked his manager had to step in because the sales guy got frustrated. But, I did get a simple phone. I think it can do some of the other stuff -- but I disregarded those directions. HA!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:12 am
hey fellow tsaiko's
don't forget to submit your "guess the color of gigi's muumuu contest" entry here.
winner gets a kiss from dpk.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:16 am
Addaknow's are good people. Everything comes from the heart
July 9th, 2008 at 10:17 am
finally....
since everyone is too polite to ask mrs. tsai.
i will.
so wena,
what is a "running snap"?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Unbelieveable that some loser would "borrow" things from anyone else. I just do not understand people like that -- like a wild animal who stumbles upon the riches of another and strives to profit from the work of others.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Patience Al. She will tell you at the conclusion of the clinic.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:19 am
did we establish if "Pride." is the pride???
July 9th, 2008 at 10:21 am
Today this is me.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:21 am
Stretch - typical engineer. No like/can read/follow instructions. j/k. But, I know from whence I speak!
I going get new toy next week (new phone)
July 9th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Perhaps Keala would like to put a window or a door at his house. Maybe he could "borrow" the thief's head to do the work?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Whoever was here yesterday pretending to be me, goin get one kick from Addaknowsports.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:23 am
Today this is me too
July 9th, 2008 at 10:23 am
*DPK stands in front of the mirror, trying on dozens of shades of lip gloss and puckering his lips. He's been practicing for hours... He thinks "the sparkly one... hmmm... no definitely not the sparkly one."*
July 9th, 2008 at 10:25 am
al,
That's not the real pp. The real pp only talks about football.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:25 am
OK...taking 10 minute break to blog like swift...
WHAT A BIO BY A-SPORTS! Soooo cute, too!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:26 am
How is that a win?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:26 am
You see Al. My name is Pride. The imposter has no . after his name. Ah we caught'em. Now gotta catch the shoe thief.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Barry,

Ahh, someone needs to give DPK his meds immediately.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Addahknowsports,
Awesome bio! Thank you so much for your interesting, informational, and funny bio! Addahknowjoe is a lucky man and you two are a great couple. Our blog community is lucky that you are involved on the blog and at so many Tsaiko events.
Your description of your childhood sounded wonderful, it is great that you got to spend so much time outdoors. Funny story about Addahknowjoe and the 49ers game!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Two of my favorite people featured here today.
Mrs. Addahknow, and Keala Watson. Mrs.ADK, thank goodness that the 49ers, were getting spanked that day, you and Joe are one of the neatest couples I have ever seen, both of you so creative and sophisticated but with that sweet nature that seems to come from growing up on the outer islands. I am so glad to have met you and Joe, two kua'aina peas in the same pod.
There's just something about Keala that makes you like the guy right away. We look forward to him helping to anchor our awesome defense. Anything good that comes his way, we already know it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:39 am
If I ever find out who took those shoes, I will drag his okole over to A-Sports and let her do a Mexican Hat dance on his toes...then finish with a hard slap to that large lump on his shoulders!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:44 am
NOW BRING BACK HIS SHOES DAMM*T!!!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Kekoa - actually the best is to put a dart board at his feet then she can whip the dart and probably hit him in the face. She throws one mean fastball dart
July 9th, 2008 at 10:46 am
ooops, busted again.
Kekoa - actually the best is to put a dart board at his feet then she can whip the dart and probably hit him in the face. She throws one mean fastball dart
July 9th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Ronnie ~ If it's any consolation, we discussed different ways to include our global ohana for the next anniversary bash. We came up with some great ideas, just ran out of time and donors!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:54 am
If you think Sports is cool...
someday we may see Mrs. Homey around here
July 9th, 2008 at 10:55 am
The font is too big! Bring back the smaller font!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Kekoa - does it involve streaming video?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:56 am
rising from the gutter, las vegas mutters to himself "do not mention good hands" just congratulate asports on a nice bio.
Hey A-Sports! Great Bio!
whew that was close.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:57 am
XLiz - Don't bet on it.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Ronnie - wanna see streaming videos? James told me about a couple of websites.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Thanks, Colt!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Ralph - I like Opera.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:01 am
ST,
How about inserting pics for the bios?
I mean, if you can do water jugs and pet dogs i'm sure you could've done A-Sports on mon or tue.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:01 am
Bulla,
That seventh "F" that comes to your mind as flatulence, well I can see why it might be on your mind. When I think of the seventh "F", what comes to my mind is "Faith".
July 9th, 2008 at 11:02 am
homey - uh... thanks, but I'll pass for now..
(Get it? Pass? Football blog? I'm learning to be funny like you.)
July 9th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Way 2 go, Colt!
Hmmm, if he gave to Koa Anuenue he could have had good parking for football.
heheheh
July 9th, 2008 at 11:09 am
DPK - I can think of another "F".
Ronnie - I like dry humor!
That's why I like Pride..
Oh, and thanks Colt and whoever borrowed KW's shoes, do the right thing, give it back.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Ronnie,
still working on things so can make it over for the Boise game.
will know 4 sure soon.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:14 am
d1 - coolio!!! and Yee Haw!!! I can't wait to beat them on their home smurf turf.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Hmmm...A-Sports and A-Joe had an office/co-worker romance? I wonder if A-Joe was her boss at work...hmmmm.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:15 am
For those who are looking for a pic of A-Sports to go along with her bio, see attached link. I added it to the glassware album. Enjoy!!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Stretch - that's a classic!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Stretch - who is that on the right side of the picture holding her up?
July 9th, 2008 at 11:18 am
homey,
I gave you that set-up for the seventh "F". Be careful, you are becoming a lil predictable. A predictable homey is bad for the universe...
July 9th, 2008 at 11:20 am
ahem...no forget the photo credit, eh?
July 9th, 2008 at 11:22 am
GRRRR!! I was busy doing a last spell/grammar check on the blog itself when all of a sudden, I hit the BlackMagic key and the post disappeared. Now, I'm rewriting it off-line and will copy/paste.
Really interesting autobio, Addaknowsports. Remember well the time at Murphy's - UHFan808 was at the table too
Both the signs for the two recycling bins and the Ching/Cooke Field display board are being done by AddaknowJoe. For years, we took our sign orders to another shop in Kalihi, but why not support one of our own? We should all do this on a regular basis, but too often, we don't even know each other's real names let alone where folks work except in a vague way like "for the state" or at a downtown law firm.
The display and the recycling bins will be donated to the Athletic Department/Jim Donovan after the party.
According to SteveM's site, ten Tsaikettes have signed up for Coach Heather's clinic on August 19. Why don't we all wear our Tsaiko-Shirts and meet beforehand for an early dinner or go out afterwards to a place where one of the attendees who's under 21 can go? The clinic is still six weeks away so we have plennytime to work out the details.
JAMES: We have 55 McDonald's of Hawai`i coupons good for a free sandwich - any one on their menu - to donate tomorrow night - one per household. I discovered them last night at the bottom of a huge pile of paperwork left over from the Legislature plus other stuff which had accumulated there for the past two months. We were supposed to hand them out to volunteers at a community service workday back in mid-May. They expire at the end of July and our next big event is not until mid-August so giving them away tomorrow evening seems like a good way to get them out to people.
Of the items listed above, which ones are to be given away and which ones are being auctioned off? Are you still accepting donations?
KEKOA: Do you need the big ice chest I wrote you about? Please let us know - we'll be there tomorrow with the display & the bins by 4 pm at the very latest - maybe earlier if DrDoc can find a sick grandmother.
PAUOA BOY: The India Cafe certificate is also date-limited if you don't plan to use it yourself.
POMAI: Let me know if you need any additional help. Best way to reach me is by phone if it's anything time-sensitive. Unlike some of the techheads here, I am still back in the analog age when it comes to personal electronics. I can't even figure out the texting feature on my $30 phone. .
Will post another reminder later today about the Kailua Relay For Life coming up this weekend and the Family Promise of Hawai`i BBQ Picnic on July 19.
Hihohiho -it's off to work I go.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:23 am
I wasn't going to put your name out there but since you want A-Sports to know that you posted that lovely picture of her for the whole world to see ..... hahahaha
July 9th, 2008 at 11:23 am
DPK - I bow to you. You are in a different league. I am just humbled to be in your presence. I dare not step in your footsteps. You are the epitome of regalness (is that a word?). Babies stop crying when they hear you talk.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:25 am
Addahknowsports -- a wonderful and charming bio, just like you!
A very generous donation by Colt... my aloha for him still grows!
Gotta run... at work today (emergency stuff).
July 9th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Where is A-sports today? Probably getting a manicure, pedicure, some highlighting, facial, body massage, and buying a new outfit for tomorrow. All the while A-Joe is sweating, working hard, giving all his money to A-Sports so he cannot afford to get a shave, cut his hair, buy new clothes and slippers...the things us men do for our women.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Good Morning ST, Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
ST-
Thanks for the nice intro...I think. Did you call me an oxymoron? I don't really mind as long as peeps don't call me "moron" like they call me "A-sports" instead of "Addahknowsports. lol. Big time thanks for calling me "smart".
Everyone-
Thank you soooooo much for all of the wonderful comments. I'm glad I could inform as well as entertain. I'm looking forward to making many more memories. (try say that fast 5 times).
Stretch- (#3)
Did I mention that I have a lead hand and lead foot? You going get it for that and impersonating Pride. And that goes for you, too, whoeva wen take the shoes.
jp- (#7)
Yup. It's been great! I love how it turned out!
Wena- (#31) Can't wait for the clinic. BTW, "running snap" sounded pretty good to me.
Wafan- (#56)
"Eh-sports"? Watch out. Brew going have his atty contact you. Bwahaha.
Homey- (#58)
You saw my sculptural piece? You don't mean the one that Mrs. A-House is going to be sporting one day?
Did I also mention that I used my lead hand to chop down that rare tiger koa tree?
Al- (#63)
Phuket Thai sound wonderful. How about 7/30/08 (Wed)?
Stretch, again- (#111)
OMG! I just refreshed. Now you gone and done it. Our secret's out. Me and Mr. Potatohead had a thang goin' on. How did you get that picture from LizK?
Once again, Everyone-
Thank you so much for letting me be a part of the Tsaikos and letting me express my Tsaiko-ness. I'll be back later on this evening. Have a great day!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Just looking at the schedule for this year, I have to say that although everyone would want a blemish free year, again, if we were to have "okay losses" and great wins, within the context of being real, we could loose a close one to Florida, loose on the road to Fresno State and be okay. The great wins would be to win at Oregon State and Boise State. Winning at Oregon State would be great for a couple of reasons, they're Pac 10, they have some local ties and they beat us here. The Boise win would be because we never beat them there. We beat Fresno at Fresno so while a loss would not be as welcomed as a win, it would not be a bad loss (if the score was close).
Looking forward to the next season.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:47 am
xs-homey - no porget the lowlights...
ST- typo? - Colt does not have a contract ??
Vibing Keala Watson's shoes to be returned to him pronto!!
ok...
williegrace!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Ronnie ~ I'm gonna ask Pauoa Boy to deliver something to you, it'll help keep that new found Aloha spirit with your son burning bright.
Tell him to get a lot of lap swimming in so he'll be ready to go surfing with my grandson when he returns. He may be able to use one of my old 11 foot 'tankers.' I would have asked homey to let him borrow his board, but it would be too short for your son. He may as well be riding a boogie board!
Note to Homey: Not picking on you, just concerned when I had that visual of you standing on the bus seat to reach up for the 'stop' cord. I thought, man, if the bus hits a pothole, you would be bouncing for the next two stops!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
back to the shoes,
c'mon gang, don't steal from your brothers.....that sucks. this could be a blessing in disguise, i think and BM agrees, that they don't provide the stability that is needed for linemen, both offense and defense.
i think NB shoes would go a lot further, but they probably have to go with UA head to toe.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
W/Doc ~ No need the ice chest, get 'choke' water/juice jugs, and ice from the bar tender. Tanks, anyhow!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
I *finally* finished my %$&# proposal and can blog again.
It is shameful that someone would steal Keala's shoes! I hope that person gives them back immediately, plus writes a nice apology letter. Stealing from the Warriors is horrible...stealing pieces of equipment that will help them prepare for the season is unforgivable!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Liz,
ST did not make a typo...lots of players from the NFL draft have not signed contracts yet. So, Colt is not getting paid by Washington yet and hasn't gotten any signing bonus money. I'm guessing that his money for the donation came from the money he just made from the autograph sessions.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Kekoa - Thanks for your concern. That's why I don't ride the bus. no mo child restraint seating.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
Hopefully Pauoa Boy will get a lot of those posters and other stuff they are passing out...Ronnie is trying to organize a Calf Call this month and it would be awesome to distribute that stuff at a Calf Call!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
um Garret. XLiz was talking about ST's sentence above where contracts is spelled "contact".
July 9th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
By the way, for those buying NCAA Football 2009 in the stores when it comes out on July 15:
Target is giving a free 8-pack of Coke Zero for any purchase of NCAA Football 2009.
Circuit city is giving a Free Athlon College Football Magazine with purchase of NCAA Football 2009.
I haven't seen the ads for the other stores yet, but it looks like there will be a selection of free stuff that comes with the game based on what store you go to.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
To all the Tsaikos who are on the planning committe and others who volunteered to assist, Mrs A-House and I would like to thank you for all the time and effort you have expended to plan/prepare for the 2nd annual blog gathering.
It is no simple task and hopefully all who attend will appreciate what you have done/accomplished.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
homey,
Oops, I didn't notice that typo! I just spent 8 straight hours editing my proposal and I don't think my brain is working anymore. But since this proposal is submitted, I don't need to be able to think for the rest of the day...
July 9th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Brew808:
will you be there tomorrow night?
July 9th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
I wonder which players will be on the posters? Last years WVB had Juliana Sanders and Kari Gregory. The football had Rivers, Lafaele, Paepule, and H. Satele. Don't know about soccer. Was there a soccer poster?
July 9th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
I know that we have a few Celtics fans here, so I found this note interesting. This short article tied the Celtics, Florida, and recruiting all together...
July 9th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Garret - Yep take a break and just go with the flow!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
[...] Colt gives back Within the last few years I have embraced glass as a medium and create jewelry and miniature sculptural pieces. [...]
July 9th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
I've always wished I could attend the Na Koa lunches (I think that is what it is called) where the coaches talk about the past game and go over some other stuff. Plus, the food really sounds good on the reports!
It might not be a big shock, but JJ is starting a weekly Monday lunch for SMU fans just like the Na Koa lunches. The big change is that the lunches will be held *on campus* so that the students can attend. I think that is a good idea, and anything to get students more involved is good...would there be a way for the UH lunches to be held on or near campus? I'm sure that Jason and others would attend those lunches.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
homey,
We're spending the night at the house of one of our good friends here. It will be my first night off (%&$# boss!) since Friday.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
Looking back at ST's pics, McNamara reminds of of an actor but I can't figure out what movie I saw him in or what his name is...
July 9th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
W/Doc,
You and UHFan808 were not there at Murphy's during the time A-Sports mentions. so I am sure you don't have any memory about it.
She is talking about the very first get-together less than a year into the blog. A-Sports is one of the people to attend the very first blog bash. She is "O.B." (Original Blogger).
Got to hit the road... be back later...
July 9th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Article about having experienced players at the backup QB spot discusses Colt. Amazing that Washington drafted a QB in 2007 and he was cut after playing in one preseason game! That is good for Colt because it means he doesn't have a recently drafted QB to compete with for a roster spot.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Exercise time. I'm gonna walk in the supermarket.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
KHON mentions Colt meeting with 5-year-old Joshua Miyazawa
Joshua hopes the UH star quarterback turned Washington Redskin will see the game.
"Get to meet Colt Brennan and get his autograph," Joshua says.
And they're set to see the pros play baseball at a Phillies game. They’ll try to hook up with another of his Hawaii sports heroes, Shane Victorino.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Oops, I did not blockquote the 2nd part of that article that I snipped. I should stop blogging I guess until my mind isn't so tired...
July 9th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Addahknowsports-
Lovely bio. Pride. said it best about you and A-joe..everything from the heart.
Now for the shoe thief: He's probably looking at those huge boats thinking "OK, now what?" Just put 'em back! No use to you.
July 9th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
wreck,
thanks for the clarification, it was a motley group at best at Murphs, haha.
those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end......
off to lunch with my bride........heard Chuck Yeager fans are going to be attending tomorrow night, impersonating Tsaikettes....haha
July 9th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Mahalo A-Sports!!!
Why would someone take Watson's shoes? Do they contain copper?
July 9th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
IMPORTANT
The personalized Tsaiko glassware is very limited in quantity and absolutely beautiful! I would advise being there early 'cuz they'll probably be gone by 6pm. (One beer mug is MINE)
July 9th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
Going through my e-mail I noticed that a Tsaiko sent this article to me. Thank you for the article--I would have missed the SJSU news otherwise.

WTF?! You must mean some other DPK, right?
July 9th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
I just read in another place that UH's linebackers as a group may be considered among the top ten nation wide. I'm not an expert, but I have to agree. What does everyone else think.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Like the pic of the dog. Nice color "Warrior Black". All he needs is a silver collar with green tapa triangles on it.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
afternoon gang!
DPK - i agree, where did you read that?
homey - Gary Sprinkle?
July 9th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
DPK - I agree, you are not an expert.
Was that a setup? I'm getting old and fall for those kinds of things more easily nowadays.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Loa - Gary Sprinkle is a good one but I'm thinking of a non-top billing actor. That's okay, one day I'll be watching a movie and I see him and I think to myself, "I've seen that person before".
July 9th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
homey - looks like he was smoking something too
July 9th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Loa - I wouldn't know what a "smoking something look" looks like.
Brashton's dog has orbs for eyes!
July 9th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
xs-homey- he looks like Jeff Bridges from that angle.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
or Buddy Lizama
July 9th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
wreck/bulla - Yep. Good times. The 12 OBs were hilarioulsy quiet that first meeting trying to figure each other out. I remember sitting next to Jason, Bulla, al, and DPK...and thinking, "Gee, Jason one young kid. Almost as young as me." MWAHAHAHAHHAHA
July 9th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Garrett...you should e-mail that story to Midori7....she's a really big CELTICS fan.....
MWAHAHAHHAHAHAAHA
July 9th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Wonderful bio, A-Sports! Looking forward to seeing you again when I get home.
Have fun at the blog party!!! Sounds like the crew did a great job of organizing & soliciting prizes.
Mahalos to Colt! Great example set for other players.
Why would someone want Keala's shoes?! Sheesh! Give um back!
"running snap"? Wat?
July 9th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
XLiz - Who is Buddy Lizama?
July 9th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Wreck, Dont think Wassupdoc mentions any "specific" time at Murphy's as you state. Re-read her comment again, "Remember well the time at Murphy’s - UHFan808 was at the table too." According to this picture,
at SteveM's site, dated 11/17/07, Addahknowsports and Addahknowjoe. WassupDoc, UHfan808, Plus1, and Kazz were at Murphy's. I think she means that she remembers well the time she had at Murphy's with the
Addahknows. So according to photo, she does indeed have a memory,LOL. No harm, no foul.

July 9th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
James - I thought Jason was 30-something. Wait, I wasn't there. Never mind.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Buddy Lizama is my sister's classmate from Kapaa High
he's Google-able...
July 9th, 2008 at 1:29 pm

July 9th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

July 9th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Loa - all I did was stay at home and study.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
XLiz - Well he does have your name in his last name.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Loa,
I read the thing about our LBs in another blog we aren't supposed to talk about.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Wow Dober! Pretty good at XHTML. You must visit other bb sites and forums. Welcome aboard. Should have been on earlier, you're gonna miss a good party tomorrow, unless you are off island and couldn't make it. Well stick around because the season is getting near!
BTW, if you are on island then come out to a CC or join the gang at tailgate! Good fun you know.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:37 pm

DPK - 10-4
July 9th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Did anyone ever notice that Keala Watson has an ever fixed smile on his face? What a happy guy! I wish I was happy
July 9th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
DPK - Here is my un-expert opinion. I think the projected starters along with the other Warrior LB's rivals that of USC's linebackers.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Bear in mind it's just a panglossian viewpoint.

Kekoa - What you need me for take back?
Anyone going practice today?
July 9th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
jojo, this will make you happy.
A duck walks into a pharmacy and asks for a lip balm.
The pharmacist tells the duck that the lip balm is available in strawberry or plain flavor, and asks the duck which he would prefer.
After some thought, the duck says he'll take the strawberry.
Certainly sir, says the pharmacist, and bags it for him. Now how would you like to pay - cash or credit card?
Neither says the duck. Put it on my bill!
July 9th, 2008 at 1:48 pm

John Kerry walks into a bar. The bartender says, "Hey John, why the long face?"
July 9th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
from post #72
Al--
I have no idea what a "running snap" is.... but somewhere in the football lingo, I must of heard the word "running" and "snap" must of come from that phrase that June Jones used to use... something about snap and clear. Steve used to tell me about that when I used to tell him a problem, and he used to refer to June Jones saying that snap thing.
July 9th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
...and Papa Leahey's favorite.
I was driving to work this morning and rear-ended somebody.

A set of jumper cables walks into the bar and orders a drink. The bartender looks him up and down and says; "Okay, I'll serve you one drink, just don't try to start anything!"
July 9th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Addahknowsports,
Thanks for sharing. Really fun and memory-provoking for me as I recalled my fun childhood days on the Big Island as I read about your childhood days.
Funny thing about you meeting the love of your life at work. As I read about that, I couldn't help but remember a saying my aunty shared with me and my wife, "Never get your honey where you get your money". A saying that held true for some people I know, but I'm surely glad it didn't apply to you guys! Never met you guys, nor anyone else here at the blog, but look forward to putting faces to blog names tomorrow!

Ansah: Da World's Podagee hide-n-seek champion.
July 9th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Dober,
I guess you are right about that. But the subject was A-Sport's Bio and I didn't see no other reference to Murphy's in her Bio other than that first meeting. Just sticking to the flow of the blog...
Great find on SteveM's site as you seem to have known or remembered that event as well. I guess being one of the "OBs", my thinking is a little different. I give you props Dober, you pay attention and I am curious what made you go look it up.
You are right, No harm on foul... or as we used to say before... One snap, clear!

A man with a cucumber in his ear, a carrot in his nose, and a tomato in his eye walks into the doctor's office. He says, "Doc, I'm not feeling well. What's wrong with me?"
The doctor says, "First of all, you're not eating right..."
July 9th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Addaknowsports - Kudos to you...A+ for a composition well written, perfect grammar and spelling but most importantly...the events in your life were expressed beautifully with humor and sincerity. We are truly blessed to add you and Addaknowjoe to our group of dear friends. Please, please assure our ohana that all if forgiven for taking your seats on the bus returning the Tsaikos to Makino Chaya after the UNLV game last season. BTW, the "crystal skull" in my possession will be revealed to the Tsaiko world tomorrow night. Special showing for Tsaikettes only...be there or be square.

i would like to stand up for my lil buddy Homey, although he bears the brunt of much of the misaligned humor on this site, he is a good guy.
despite being the walking target, he has always had a great attitude, and it's like duck on a water's arse....let it roll
by the way, that's a bullaism, the duck on the water.....see if Homey gets it....the joke i mean.
anyway, Homey, stand tall, and i'd bod down, but most likely would hit my head on the curb above you.

July 9th, 2008 at 4:03 pm

No worries UHFan808, I got your ears....errrr back. MWAHAHAHAHHAHA
July 9th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Pride, I agree with #10, but #35? Who da heck is Pono Ma'a?
July 9th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Hey, who's the imposter who posted as me and said Midori7 likes the Celtics...that's an absolute falsehood and I won't stand for it....so I think I'll sit.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Hello everyone. First time poster, long time lurker. Sounds like you all are going to have fun tomorrow night. Wish I could be there. Oh well, maybe next time.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Is Pono Ma'a another name for Leonard Peters? If so, I agree with #35.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Wow I couldn't lurk anymore with all the chit chat going on and after reading Pride's list I saw that #25 is something we should place in our bylaws as Tsaikos...
Party is going to be great! Jojo... Maryanne might be an "OB" but not the same one we talked about... I think that "OB" stands for "One Braddah"...
July 9th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Okay gang. I have to run more errands for tomorrow. Hope to get back online tonight. I won't be available by e-mail so if anyone needs to get in contact with me just call my cell. See you guys later.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Awwwwww, A-sports, I love, love, love that bio!
Big {{{{{hug!}}}}} to you and A-Joe.
Just love those Addahknows!
July 9th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Hey Esme. You're looking HOT!
July 9th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Esme,
If you don't know them... are you sure you love them? I figured you would know them by now.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Shifting gears a bit ...
Uhhhh, paging ... Liz? Pride? A-Joe? All other singers ...? I need a bit of advice here ...
I woke up this morning with ... a scratchy throat and nose issues. For me, this usually means a cold coming within 24-48 hours, which means ... voice problems. I'm thinking: NO! This can't be happening! Not when I've got a date with the Tsaiko All-Star Band to keep! I've already lost a few notes off the top end of the range and shudder to think how much worse it can get.
So here is my question: Do any of you singers have any good remedies to keep the voice clear when you get sick? I'm a-panickin' here...
July 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
What? Who is this?
I'm pretty sure that is NOT something Pride would say. Hee!
Reveal yourself!
(No, not like THAT ...)
July 9th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Wreck, don't confuse me today. I'm so sleep deprived, it doesn't take much.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Esme. Just take good care of your cold. Keep talking to a minimum. Adrenaline will help you reach notes that you can't reach today. Suck on a lemon.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Esme. Sleep is the most important thing.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Esme,
I didn't talk to you... are you sure it was me? You might want to check the post again just to be safe.
Some saimin with the hot mustard will help then follow it up with some tea if you really need it. I like to eat bread before I get on stage but that is just me.
Ohh did I mention the WreckinEyez (the actual music group which I bummed the screen name from two years ago) drummer will also be there to play your songs esme, pride, dean?

But too old.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:46 pm

Howzit gang, just got back from practice and from what I've observed from the QB's is that Funaki is definitely #1 right now, hands down.
UHfan808 - Looking forward to meeting you too and your twin
July 9th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
correction to 59, punt should be "fake hand off".
July 9th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Good evening, Tsaiko-Nation and Tsai-Meister.
Just got back awhile ago from a long and hot day. Florida is broiling right now. Takes forever to catch up if you miss the day.
Addahknowsports,
Excellent bio. A well written story about a great relationship, as well as Fanship. Enjoyable to read and a great example of what makes a great couple. Thanks for sharing.
Once again Colt shows who he is and he hasn't even made any real money yet. Just a great son of Hawaii.
July 9th, 2008 at 5:34 pm

Nice review of Lofton and Javonte Taylor.
While the Warriors don't use a true tight end, 6-3, 200-pound sophomore Daniel Lofton will be a big target at the Y. After signing with Cal and taking a redshirt year, he sat out last year to be ready to roll for the Warriors and potentially be the team's most dangerous all-around receiver. He has the size, next-level speed, he was a California state high school champion sprinter, and limitless upside. He's the son of NFL Hall of Famer, James Lofton.
The 5-9, 185-pound Taylor runs a 4.2 40 and should become a home-run hitter as both a receiver and a return man. He was a California State sprint champion who'll be used in a variety of spots to get his speed on the field. Oregon wanted him, and Hawaii got him.
July 9th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
if dustin blount makes it thru.....he will open eyes...i am told.
July 9th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
I almost said: Yeah, that's a good idea!
But then...
1) Yes, you'd have to learn even more words, and I already feel bad you've been going nuts learning the Kealii part.
2) Plus I still would have to sing Robi's higher melody part on the last reprise, because I just s*ck at singing harmony. Although I guess that wouldn't be too bad because at least I wouldn't be singing alone ....
Hmmm...
July 9th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Is that the one where razor blades are attached to the sticks to see if the dancers jump higher?
July 9th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Wha...?
July 9th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I didn't realize Lofton was only a sophmore. This could be good.
July 9th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
UH got a lot of pick ups, Dowling, LWJ, and many others, as a result of coaches who are no longer with the program. Will this continue?
July 9th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Esme is one of my favorite posters!
July 9th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Esme, you know you're my favorite, but it sounded like you were "pulling an Esme" in advance. So, if you do a preliminary Esme, it's a PrEsme.
One other thing: 400th!!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
401!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Javonte sounds like another M. Washington. I hope MW breaks out this year. I know he is super fast, but does he have D. Bess quickness? DB is showing how North/South speed may not be as important as quickness, route running and hands.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Have a great celebration tomorrow!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Did the Muddle-Huddle start with the Running Snap? Someone should confirm it with Coach Tomey.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Wreck, you're on a roll with the UNKO lists and now the PRIDE lists. Nuff already. I am getting listed out! haha
And, eh, word to the wise: I can run farther than 4 feet. Secret is the SAS sandals I always wear.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
It's elementary Watson. Could the mystery of the missing shoes be solved by looking at yesterday's pictures??
July 9th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Yes. Coach Tomey-take a bow!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
BTW, my hat is off to HA columnist Lee Cataluna. How in the world does she manage to write 3 columns per week plus a 60,000 rough draft of a novel while caring for her 2 year old son -- who loves to enter her room and press the DELETE button on her computer?
Babysitting my 7 month old granddaughter has me completely pooped!
July 9th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
60,000 WORD rough draft of a novel
July 9th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
ST- I tried to tell you about the typo "contact" back at #123 ... and I left a VM on your phone this morning about something else. er... I HOPE that was your phone...
July 9th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
GG: Quality counts. I don't read Lee Cataluna.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Wait a minute. Doesn't Esme work from home also? My hat is off to her as well.
July 9th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Bonar, I sent my new book to Cataluna. I hope she reviews it -- favorably. If negative, don't bother, Lee. lol
July 9th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
I think everyone should write a memoir for posterity to read and treasure. I sure wish my grandparents had done so! Can you imagine reading about how a picture bride felt when she laid eyes on her future husband who was 13 years older than she was? Was there romance after marriage? Or was it strictly business?
July 9th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Dick Tomey's muddle huddle - Offense runs a play... QB goes up to the line makes like tying shoes... Hikes ball to TB on left side... Classic!
Just caught Brada Jimmy Donovan on L & L - yo, whoever sees brada tomorrow please ask em fo drop wun rice bag of weight we love the man too much. July 9th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Wun last Tomey story cherry on da sundae - Circa 82-83 team is totally going through da motions. Calls a TO - brings the WHOLE TEAM to da 50 yard right by the first row of fans. Totally chews out the whole team with every 4 letter word in da book. Whole bunch of fans within earshot roars it's approval. Needless to say team kicks okole fo da rest of da game...
July 9th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Interesting to see that Michigan is paying the majority of Rich Rodriguez's buyout clause.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Wreck....
#63 Holding is actually what one does after eating spoiled bagaong...if dats even possible...MWAHAHAHAHA
#58 Double Reverse - that's pulling a koa-mahu
#70 Bull Rush - what happens when steak is on the menu of a Tsaiko Buffet
July 9th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Amazing how so many people (including news agencies) believed this hoax by a Nebraska fan.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
I loved the muddle huddle...such a cool play!
I remember a game against a big-name school (USC?) where a WR went towards the sideline but stopped before going completely out of bounds. He blended in with the UH players on the sidelines and then snuck downfield, catching a long pass. That was executed so well!
July 9th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
It's almost 8:30 pm, and D1 showed up on my doorstep to collect my muumuu for the culture table. Thanks, D1. Sorry I couldn't deliver it to you today as I had to babysit.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:46 pm

July 9th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
wow - d1shima is pulling super duty... he hasn't been feeling well.
July 9th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
tanks, James
July 9th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
D1 is super-dedicated to the Tsaikos. Hubby offered to deliver my muumuu to D1's residence after work, but D1 said he would pick it up at my home. I didn't know he was ill. He seemed fine wearing shorts and a Tshirt.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Wow, first I see that Esme is ill and now D1? I just got over being sick but still battling a weak voice/cough...
Must be something in the air...
That or the LACK of UH Warrior Football and UH sports in general is starting to take a physical toll on the Tsaikos...
July 9th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
ATTENTION: Sick Tsaikos w/sore throat.
1/4 cup of honey and 1/4 cup of vinegar.
Good luck!
July 9th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
A quick reminder about the KAILUA RELAY FOR LIFE this Saturday:
A few months ago, Jason encouraged Warrior Beat regulars to help his efforts to raise funds for the Relay For Life event held on campus - in fact, at Cooke Field.
At the time, we said that we would be taking part in the Kailua Relay For Life - it starts on Saturday, July 12, around 3 pm and ends on Sunday, July 13 at 7 am at Kailua Beach Park in the section opposite Buzz’s on the road going into Lanikai.
There’ll be entertainment, food, games, talk story time, and, of course, the opportunity to take part in the Relay itself - all in a location often named as one of the finest beaches in the world.
Here’s how you can support the Kailua event even if you don’t attend in person. Please make a donation to honor someone who has dealt with cancer or to recognize someone who’s had a job promotion or a birthday or graduation in the family or whatever needs to be celebrated.
Make your check payable to the American Cancer Society. If you want it to go to the Windward Unit of the American Cancer Society, then note on the memo line it is for the Kailua Relay For Life. If you want it to go to the larger organization, just leave the memo line blank.
You can mail your check to the American Cancer Society, Windward Unit, 130 Kailua Road, Suite 102B, Kailua, HI 96734. Or you can give it to DrDoc or me at the party on Thursday and we’ll deliver all the checks to the Windward Unit in one bundle.
Mahalo for your support!
July 9th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Garret re:417
I saw that and thought it would be nice if SMU ponied up some of the money for JJ's damages clause. I read in another article that Michigan also included a $4 million damages clause in its contract with Rodriguez.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
I believe I mailed a check to the Amer Cancer Soc when Jason was handling the relay. Always a good cause. My dad died of colon cancer.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Brandon Jennings, one of the top high school point guards in the nation, will be a one-and-done player next year. Except that instead of playing one year of college basketball at Arizona, he will play his one year in Europe reportedly for a six figure salary. I wonder if he would consider this option if he was academically eligible to enroll at Arizona. See link above.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Gigi: Mahalo for your support. My mother died at age 32 a week before my 9th birthday of complications from breast cancer while my dad died of liver cancer in 1980. Feel as if I have a huge block of stone hanging over my head.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
i'm back!
July 9th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Friday Night Lights was discussed here by several people. I'm not sure if their fans know about how some actors got cut out of the show recently.

Hyndai is releasing the first hybrid car to be powered by liquid petroleum gas and use advanced Lithium Polymer batteries. It sounds really cool but will only be available in South Korea next year.

Interesting reviews of the 3G iPhone. The NY Times gave a positive review, but noted that AT&T only provides 3G service in limited areas…10 states have NO 3G coverage and 16 states have it in 3 cities or less. Also, it has no Bluetooth and cannot be used as a GPS navigation device in cars even though it has a GPS system included in it:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/09/technology/personaltech/09pogue.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin
The Wall Street Journal has a nice review of the 3G iPhone. They point out that all 3G phones have short battery life when using 3G service, but only the iPhone doesn’t have replacement batteries. The work-around that this reviewer found was to use WiFi instead or even to turn off the phone when not using it. It is good that call quality is better on the 3G network:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121555740704037313.html?mod=yahoo_hs&ru=yahoo
USA Today has another interesting 3G iPhone review. They point out that the backing for the 2G iPhone was metal and the backing for the 3G iPhone is plastic because plastic is better for signal reception:

Family Promise of Hawai’i is an innovative program set up to help families with children escape homelessness. Its mission is to mobilize existing community resources to help families experiencing homelessness transition to sustainable independence.
This is done by developing, training, and supporting a network of interfaith congregations who host families quarterly. Each host site provides a safe place to sleep, good food, and generous hospitality for one week at a time before moving on to another host site. In addition, other nearby religious communities which may not have the facilities for overnight stays join in as helping congregations.
During the day, guests work, pursue employment, attend school, or enroll in job training. A Family Center provides access to phones, mail, fax, a copier, showers, and laundry facilities. The program provides transportation to & from the host sites and the Family Center.
In March 2006, the Windward Network & Family Center opened while the Honolulu Network, which opened in July 2007, will be celebrating its first birthday on July 19. Three to five families (up to 14 people) can be accommodated by each network at any given time.

Maintaining cell phone towers might be the most dangerous job in the US, if you go by the fatality stats (including 5 deaths in 7 days by people working on cell phone towers!).

Thanks to Colt for the donation. I don't remember who said it, but someone made a good point earlier — he hasn't signed his contract yet, and so that money might be from his autograph signings. If that's the case, even more kudos to him. I'm not big on paid autographs, but considering what Colt had to go through these past three years, I think he deserves every penny.
I can't believe someone "borrowed" Keala's shoes. I hope they get returned, just like the football helmets. Give it back!
addahknowsports is one of the sweetest ladies on this blog that I know. I'm just sad that I'll be missing the Phuket Thai cattle call; I'll be arriving in Madison, WI that day for my math conference. I guess I'll have to go to Phuket Thai some other time by myself.
And if you didn't support my campaign for Relay for Life before, please do so now if possible. If you need reasons to do so, please read this letter. And once again, thank you to those that contributed before.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Good evening Tsaikos and Tsaikettes and night-owls on the mainland-
Thank you again for your comments! I am very happy to share with you all.
D1 and Esme-
I hope you feel better by tomorrow. Rest up, my friends.
..and a shot of whiskey. Haha. Who was it that gave me a similar remedy last month when I was sick? I think it was another kind of alcohol. Hmmm...
Curt- (#213)
See if your wife wants to join us at Heather MacMackin's football clinic if she hasn't already signed up. I think going be good fun.
Onarock- (#222)
It's interesting that everyone across the state has similar small kid time experiences.
"Never get your honey where you get your money". That's an interesting saying also. Never heard it before. Actually I didn't work at the sign shop very long. I soon after I got another job. A-joe and I found that a lot of things that happened in our history has a lot to do with timing. There were a lot of small windows where our paths crossed and had we been one or two steps too fast or slow, the "us" would never have been. Interesting, yeah, how it makes one think that things happen for a reason.
I am looking forward to meeting both you and Curt tomorrow night.
Al- (#359)
Wow, Al! Thanks! I do feel very honored! Looking forward to it!
LizK- (#385)
Wow! I am feeling very special. Thank you! I am curious to see who comes out of the woodwork.
Hi chawan_cut-
Welcome home! See ya tomorrow!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
gigi,
Is there a certain de rigeuer for Tsick calls?
Kazz,
OK, I've been watching these two cups of honey and vinegar now for a while and I still feel like "Fumbler". Now what?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
A-sports,
Howzit! OK, mebbe I try your way...
Not sure about wat kine alcohol? Das okay, I go keep trying 'em all til I find one dat work
heheheh
July 9th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
D1, haha, Tsickies usually bundle up with flannel pajamas and a heavy blanket. Nah, sorry. What are your symptoms? Is it a cold or the flu?
I feel so tired right now. Been waking up at 4-4:30 am this week. Trying to force myself to go to bed around 11-11:30 pm and get up later so I can last the night at the party tomorrow.
Hubby wants to leave at 8 pm, but I told him, "Wot?! crazy or wot?!"
July 9th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Jason-
You gotta talk to Uncle Al. That man makes things happen.
Thanks for the sweet compliment (and thanks again for the serenade at R&R K-call)!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
so, sports, you not gonna reveal how long you been married?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
So I call gigi and say, "Hey, I'm just a few minutes away."
"Okay," she says.
So after more than a few minutes of driving up and down her DARK street looking for, oh, IDK, maybe a porch light left on...I am finally able to make out the shape of a split A/C unit in front of one of the houses and decide to take my chances.
Stroke of luck!
Da muumuu is secure....
July 9th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
July 9th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Oh, dang. Mistake on the blockquote.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
D1, mea culpa! Didn't realize you couldn't see the numbers on the mail box. Should've turned on the light in the carport. Dang, very inconsiderate of me.
Last night, the street light in front of my house konked out for some reason. Copper theft or just a bad light bulb? Who do we call to repair it?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Jason,
Thank you for yesterday's recap on Kelli's blog to inform the uninformed.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
I repeat...
d1-
Easy does it (on the booze)! BG is providing designated driver service FROM the party...not TO the party. You need some rest so stop reading the blog and go sleep.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Gosh, thanks, gigi. Most people totally underestimate how difficult it is to work at home at the same that you're caring for small kids. So, mahalo.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
gigi,
no problem. Tsaikos persevere!
re: your street light
Maybe you can tell da mayor tomorrow....oh, sorry, I heard he probably won't be there. Maybe he is waiting for a better transit method to UH?
July 9th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
101. unnecessary roughness... ...Not releasing the choke hold when someone taps out.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
#500!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Oh look! Its Esme!
This must be the Tsick Ward.
Heard you going be on "Fire" tomorrow, Esme.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
gigi- (#450)
That question should be a Tsaiko trivia question. Maybe they'll give a prize away for the best answer tomorrow night. Hahaha. Come talk to me tomorrow night.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Gosh, thanks, bonar! I have no idea what I did to deserve to have my picture displayed on your wall ... I hope it's an attractive one!
(Ya know I'm just kidding.)
July 9th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Wreck and al - thanks for the laughs.
Esme, d1, and whoever feels below par, take care. But then again, Esme is a carrier.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
d1, if it's being sung in the company of true-blue Hawaii fans, then I believe the proper pronunciation is:
"Fi-ah."
July 9th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Esme, I totally agree. Plus, I always told my friends, "Why have kids if you aren't going to take care of them? Why give them to a stranger to raise?"
Ah, well, my daughter loves her career as a math teacher. Plus she has a mortgage, so.... I am here to babysit.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
People, be ready to be mESMErized tomorrow!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
A-sports,
No worry. j/k about the booze.
I going listen to da Coach and go back to bed soon.
(bumbai I going get stomped on by the heavy-footed author of today's most-awesome bio!)
July 9th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
How come wen Esme pops in all of a sudden - dere's homey!?!
Hmmm....
sumtin fo' ponder as I drift off to sleep...
Oyasumina-tsai.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
homey,
good one with the mESMErizing .
what could you do with my name?
wait, nvm, i shouldn't have asked.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
man, i thought south carolina was hot and humid.
what's going here?
or maybe it's because i had free a/c in the hotel and just a fan now.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Don't worry, d1-
I'll tread carefully where tsick tsaikos are concerned. BTW, you're still reeeeeading...
July 9th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
chawan_cut: You're welcome.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Oh great!
I took an Allegra tab awhile ago and NOW I read about the side effects which include: INSOMNIA!!!
....and from a site that asks for real experiences
July 9th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
chawan - welcome back!
d1shima - stalking?
A-Sports - don't go near Esme, she's highly contagious.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
I feel tewwibul.
I don't know why....
but it's really bothering me....
and no one cares...
July 9th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
increased anxiety, strange dreams, feelings of hopelessness and despair!?!?
that is enough to make you wear Gigi's muumuu...
July 9th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
d1shima - take a viagra. At least your mind will be on something else for 4 hours.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I couldn't wear gigi's muumuu. It would be too baggy on me.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Wreck,
I already tried it on.
Now I feel WORSE!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
hey, that muumuu will get you a wet kiss from DPK if your answer about the color is correct.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
homey,
but what will Mrs. d1shima be doing for those 4 hours???
July 9th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
We all know the color is blue. jojo will be getting the kiss.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Oh wundahful.
Another side effect: colorblindness!
July 9th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Homey-
Well tomorrow night Esme is going to be breathing fi-ah on all of us. j/k Esme.
d1-
There there... we wuv you. You are starting to sound like Las Vegas.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
d1shima - Does she have gifted hands like A-Sports?
July 9th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
how do you know I didn't switch the muumuus before D1 picked it up?
I stapled the top of the bag so he can't peek in.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Wreck,
What time you getting there tomorrow?
July 9th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Hiya!
I am having fun (yeah right) moving iMac info from Palm desktop and Outlook to native mac programs and NOT Entourage, which doesn't sync to the Treo. Now moving Thunderbird files to Mail... and wondering how to put my mailing lists on Address Book or Mail...
sheesh.
So I had to turn on my old laptop to blog!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
...and those staples were sharp!
Good thing I have a staple remover
July 9th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
A-Sports - remember the KC when I mistakenly accused you of lipsyncing? Well that's the time at least 3 Tsaiko's got sick. Most of them were sitting in the same booth as Esme.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
And now Garret's post says the new iPhone has no bluetooth. Great.
I dunno if I want to recommend all this Mac stuff to my boss...
July 9th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
homey,
No basis for comparison.
But she can do tinikling!

"You feel as if everyone should write a book before they die, but their book is already written. The pages live within those they’ve touched." --William Shue (1962-1988)
July 9th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
gigi - we all know that you don't have a green muumuu. You are probably gonna wear a black one tomorrow. So that only leaves a purple or blue muumuu and you most likely put the one you used in Stretch's golf practice video of you in the bag.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
xs-homey, off early tonight, eh?
HI ESME!!
HI SPORTS!! You know, after Heather's seminar you might have to change yer handle to AhDOknowsports!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
William Shue -- what a short lifespan!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Hi J! That is an extraordinary quote!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
homey, you should see my closet -- so many muus of all kinds of colors. Yes, I do have a green muu - a shorty one, which I sometimes wear to bed.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Good Evening Tsaikos!!
Too tired to go through everyone's posts from today. Time for me go sleep and rest up for tomorrow night.
For the committee guys, thanks for everyone's help, I am sure everything will work out well and if we forgot anything, screw it, it's too late. Enjoy the party!!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
XLiz - I rearranged my schedule so I can make it tomorrow. Can't miss you and the rest of the vaunted singers.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Hey, LIz, I didn't get any phone messages.
Well, unless you called my work cell, which I haven't used in a while since I lost the charger.
But if you e-mail me, I'll send you my personal cell number.
Same goes for the rest of you.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Uh oh. I think Esme's getting a bad rep. I don't think was her, Homes. We were all hugging each other on the way out. Could have been anybody.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
gigi - I'll pass on the closet. I can't stand moth ball smell.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Wow. We topped 500.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I am planning to get there around 2... lots to setup. Bass and Drums should be there around the same time.... Maybe get some practice in.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
A-Sports - You're a good buddy. It was Esme.
Me and koakane didn't get sick. Must be the chicken gizzards we ate.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Addaknowsports:
It was her. I've been coughing all day.
It's the Hug of Death.
It'll be a new entry in Webster's.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Wreck - I'll give you a call tomorrow when I'm in the SSC area. I'll be wondering around since I'm getting dropped off.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Thanks to the False and Koakane clans for showing up today.. 500+ post.
Lots of excitement tomorrow!!!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
J- (#494)
Nice.
LizK- (496)
Thanks for the confidence!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Not sure if this was announced or not but just in case....
For drinks, there will be beer, water, juice and some soda available. Everyone is allowed to bring in their own coolers with their drink of choice if not one of those being avaialble. To be safe, please put ice before coming to the room.
Food is going to be a heavy pupus, NOT dinner so please eat accordingly during the day. We got the most food possible with the budget constraints we had. We hope that everyone understands this now and no need repeat this later.
Doors will open at 530 to start checking in, checking out memorabilia, buy more raffle tickets and purchase Tsaiko items. The program will start about 6 and pupu line opens at 630pm.
I think that's it, I going sleep now and will post last minute stuff tomorrow.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Homey, Yah call or I'll call you if I get there sooner. I know koakane wants to start drinking around 2... But then again we all knew that.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:19 pm

lol.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
A-Sports - No matter to me if you know or don't know the intricacies of football. All that matters is that you are one of many that have allowed me to experience life and that no dart board will last long if you can hit it.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Wreck,
I'll try to get there early.
Some practice would be good.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
The new iPhone has bluetooth, just not bluetooth stereo for your headphones. So hands-free earpieces, yes. Bluetooth headphones for listening to iTunes and movies, no.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Wreck - I won't be there that early, I'll call you.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
ST- ok... it was your work cell.... will email.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Okay, are we all gonna bus' out da deep thoughts now?
July 9th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
d1shima - You start.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Well....
July 9th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Addahknowsports,
Re: #445. Thanks for inviting my wife, Meg, to Heather McMackin's function. I tried earlier to get her to go. But, she'll go only if I go. And, I don't to dress up like a wahine or borrow a muu muu from Gigi. My legs are too hairy and I don't want to shave them.
So, you'll have to meet her and give it a shot. She's shy with strangers. When she gets comfortable, watch out. You won't be able to get a word in.
Ha-ha. Take care and see you tomorrow. I'm off to dream land now.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Almost time to adjust my sleep pattern...like it matters.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
LizKauai -- the new iPhone3G has bluetooth. It also is wireless phone and has WI-FI. See:
http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
I am now seriously thinking of getting one.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
A deep thought....
This blog gave us friends and people we would not have even thought about becoming friends with.
Usually after college and other than work... We don't meet close friends regularly. Imagine who you would be hanging out with if it wasn't a Tsaiko...
Deeper thought....
Would Gigi have friends being a homebody?
July 9th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Good night to all of the committee members that have really gone all out in prepping for this event. Tomorrow is the final push. It is going to be a great partay. I feel it in me bones. Thank you all so much. Now get some sleep and let's do it up right in 18 hrs. and 40 min.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Here's a deep thought...submarine on the bottom of the ocean.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
homey,
pah-dum, tish!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Don't worry about your legs Kurt!... Use the muumuu... same reason Gigi uses them! you might have to ask her about footware for it though

July 9th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
It's official. Saimin time! see you guys and gals tomorrow!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

See you all tomorrow.

Jason:
Mahalo for the RELAY FOR LIFE support.
Dober:
Whoever you are - mahalo for your support as well in #167. November 16, 2007, at Murphy's will stay with me forever! Not only did I get to meet UHFan808 as well as the Addahknows that night but also I got to watch one of the most exciting sports moments ever on tv:
(Wikipedia)
Off to bed - a lot of free-lance projects to wrap up before heading into town. We'll be at the SSC by 4:15 or so. DrDoc wasn't able to find a sick grandmother, but he is knocking off work early. Between February 15 and April 15, he worked over 200 overtime comp hours so he'll use up two of them Thursday afternoon.

Good morning Tsaikos!
Saw online that the Golden Nugget has their "Games of the Year" football lines up at their sportsbook. Only two games involving the WAC were NV - UNLV (NV -6) and UH - Boise St (BSU -13.5). They list USC as a 3.5 favorite over Ohio St. for their big 13 Sep matchup.
Hope everyone has a blast tonight but get home safe, OK?

I hope you get the job. You have done what has been asked of you, everytime, no question. you have a great face, no question. I personally observed you during the crisis time, and looking back I would have to say you did real real good. and you have a great kid, no question. You do not need any negative stigma hanging over you because of Herman's missteps. without doubt.
I would like you to know that this Hawaii Warrior fan is pulling for you - if it could be your dream job.
btw, Jimmy D could take a lesson from you - keep up your health.
but in the meantime, please make the effort to get us good teams to play. use whoever you gotta use to get SMU in our sites. get openingx next year and later the following year (no need be the last game, we supposed to have 2 open spots). Plus, Florida would love to play us in late Nov. '10. They going have issues in 52 dayz (8/31), rematch.
To set it up, yu gotta start watering the grass now.

BHF2,
If Koakane used the first photo I sent him for the culcha table, you get to see some of the keeds in the Hawaiian club who your granddaughter will be hanging with. Good keeds! Hayden, Megs, Jason, Maria, Daniel, Christine & the club Pres. Kaila (the blonde) are all still at NAU. The guy scrunching down 2nd from the right is from Kona, Matt, & is going to vet. school at OSU right now. He's my connection for tickets if I go.
Have fun!!! ML

BHF2: JUGS1 has not been seen in use yet. Last couple of days the field has been getting watered. Don't know if the outlets are working, or they don't want to short out the JUGS.
Actually they have all the QBs out throwing, so plenty of live balls. JUGS will come in handy later when early bird receivers pull Davone Bess workouts in the A.M. sjmacro

I'm proud to say that A-Sports is my sista and everything she wrote is accurate, especially her apathy for sports and disdain for pain (it took 5 people to hold her down at the dentist 's office when we were kids...but that's another story). Funny, she didn't like pain back then, but she sure was an expert at dishing it out. Since then, we've become a lot closer, but whenever I talk about sports, her eyes have a tendency to glaze over. I knew she had no interest when I spoke of how either UH volleyball team was doing or the incredible shotmaking skills of Tiger Woods. She never spent every Sunday morning watching football with me and our dad or stayed up late to watch Wrestling Hawaii (which, by the way, was REAL back then). I have never been good at sports, but I definitely enjoy watching it, especially UH sports. I was one of those who dished out three hundred something dollars last year for the UH package, even though I couldn't really afford it (with a toddler and infant at daycare and both in diapers).
But getting back to A-Sports, I must say that thanks to her friendship with the Tsaikos, I have seen a tremendous change in her confidence, a brighter spark in her personality, and even a teeny bit of interest in sports. During one of the UH games this past season, she and A-Joe came over to watch Colt and Company and I vividly remember her letting out a shrill screech that could wake the dead. (I still have flashbacks about it.) Naturally, I thought it was a gecko, but she was actually excited about one of the plays...and it wasn't even a touchdown. Who was this person? Not to mention her running to my computer to check the BLOG at every commercial. Did my sister even know how to use a computer? Anyway, I just wanted to give a little background info on my sister and how far she's come as far as sports goes. Thanks, Tsaikos, for being an important part of my sister and braddah-in-law's lives. They are both awesome people and we love 'em. I hope I can meet you all someday.
P.S.--My sis is definitely very good with her hands. She can make anything. Ever check out her jewelry? But, seriously, don't make a wisecrack about being good with her hands. She wasn't kidding about her "lead foot."
July 10th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Punchbowl:
Re UH linebackers being in the best 10. No way. Not the present group. You have some good LBs at UH, but they are not the ones on the field at this time. As soon as the UH coaches get their act together, the real LBs will take the field. None of the present starting LBs has a real shot at the show. A lot of flash and showboating, but no substance. The guys who make it to the show have a little something extra - it's called heart. Since most of the present coaches have never been to the show, they are having a tough time figuring out who has that little extra. Hard to figure this out when you yourself don't have it. Jesse Sapolu can tell you who has it. Ask him for some help in identifying the real players.
Every person who has attained the highest ________________ in his/her calling/profession understands what I am talking about. For football players, this would be the NFL. For science buffs, this would be a PhD or a MD, etc., etc.
On a more positive note, congratulations to Barry's son at USC. Glad to hear Maualuga and Maiava welcomed your son to USC. Rey is a really good kid. Waipahu raised. Will be a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft. Garans!
