Heffernan's promotion; Chun's departure
By Stephen Tsai
Tommy Heffernan will be in charge of the offseason conditioning program for football, as well as serve as the Warriors' lead strength coach. As the strength coach, he was in charge of overseeing the athletic department's overall strength and conditioning programs.
"I like that Tommy is great with the players," UH head coach Greg McMackin said. "He's very organized, and detailed. He's very computer literate. He is always going to clinics and camps to improve his knowledge. He's an excellent teacher. He's a tireless worker. I'm really excited about having Tommy as our strength coach."
Mel deLaura, who had served as the Warriors' lead strength coach for 10 years, will remain on the UH weight-room staff. He will focus on working with the women's teams.
"We appreciate what Mel did for our program," McMackin said. "He'll still remain part of our University of Hawai‘i family."

We're sorry to hear about Liz Chun's announced departure from Hawaii News Now.
It's been a tough year for Liz. Double-duty as KGMB sports anchor/director and host of the Coach Mack Show was taxing. In addition, she helped care for her father, who recently passed away.
Liz is respected, not just because she was Hawai‘i's first female TV sports director, but also for her tireless work. And she came up through the ranks, starting off as a camera operator.
Hopefully, this is just a well-needed hiatus.
In the meantime, we'll miss her.

During halftime of tonight's UH-Louisiana Tech basketball game, Erika Buder-Nakasone will be honored as recipient of the Kane Fernandez Award for community service.
Buder-Nakasone, a former UH cheerleader and coach, volunteers as executive director of Letterwinners Club. According to a news release, her duties include overseeing a 30-member board, handling a 1,200-member database, and coordinating receptions in Hawai‘i and on the Mainland.

Happy birthday to the very lovely and funny Jeannie Lee, who sometimes moonlights as my joke writer.

UH Warrior fan for LIFE!

WarriorMojo:
And the answer to your question from a few days ago, nope, Russell Thompkins Jr. is no longer with the Stylistics.
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:14 am
Thanks, ST. Hope his replacement sounded good. Thompkins' voice was/is amazing.
My current dilemma is Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Al Green vs. UH and La Tech. Already have UH tickets so I guess that's where I'll be, but how do I miss out on AL GREEN?! I have a feeling I'm going to regret this in years to come.
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:18 am

UH is done recruiting those.
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:38 am

January 23rd, 2010 at 12:40 am

January 23rd, 2010 at 2:35 am
Good morning, Tsaikos! Really hope to see Liz on the airwaves again soon. And happy birthday, Jeannie!!!!
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:16 am
Congratulations to Tommy Heffernan. That's great news for the football program.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:17 am
Good luck to Liz Chun.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:18 am
Congrats to Erika.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:44 am
I was thinking about that the other day, while looking at the pictures of the walk-on tryouts. There's all this lifting and running and stretching in the off season. There's the one on ones, half line drills, and 7-on-7's. But there is nothing like 11-on-11's. That's when you look at guys eyes who are playing at the D1 level for the first time and you see there eyes that are bigger than silver dollars. Some people show up and some disappear. You never know what a person is made of until you strap it up and play in the elevens. Everything else before that is only pass league. Can't wait for this redshirt season to be over with for Ryan. One of the things that makes Ryan so valuable is the word "penetration". Penetration by the D-line can ruin an offensive series. That's one of the assets to Ryan's game. Most fans cannot see it because it happens in the quagmire, underneath a lot of big bodies.
The best noseguard to ever strap it up for Hawaii was a guy by the name of Itai Sataua. Unheralded, quiet, and under the radar. Believe me, he was the best ever. Name of his game, penetration. Penetration will ruin an offensive line coaches day.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:45 am
ST,
Really sorry to hear about Liz. She's a great gal and deserves the best. She was our class president for as long as I can remember and even back then she was taking care of her housing community and her father. I enjoyed seeing her on TV and miss her spunky side. Hope she comes back strong.

http://www.reporternews.com/news/2010/jan/22/no-headline---june_jones/?partner=yahoo_feeds
Jones said his take on the passing offense had made a “night and day” difference at SMU, where he just completed his second season as coach.
“It’s fun to come to practice. The kids want to come and want to be the best,” he said.
He said his idea was 33 percent run-and-shoot, which the Gamblers made famous; 33 percent Bills offensive coordinator Ted Marchibroda’s 3 wides and a tight end; and 33 percent Bill Walsh’s trend-setting West Coast offensive scheme.
Mumme, who introduced Jones, said his friend has brought “cutting edge stuff” to SMU, which posted an 8-5 record capped by a bowl victory last season.
And with coaching shakeups at offensive giants Texas Tech (firing of Leach) and Houston (departure of offensive coordinator Dane Holgorsen), recruits who “think outside the box” should look at SMU.
“He is the best football coach I competed against,” Mumme said of Jones, who coached Hawaii when Mumme was at New Mexico State. “He had a pretty good defense, and he’d show us up on offense, too.” — Greg Jaklewicz

good morning tsaikos,
off to maui for another funeral today....whew, life is too short, make memories, make memories, make memories...
Pride: mahalo for the props for ryan. i think he brings another element to the DL that they will hopefully appreciate. as was his former DL coach and Pac 10 standout, a former Monarch, Inoke Breckterfield...they both have similar techniques in creating havoc for an offense by their quickness off the snap. that is an innate quality, you either got it or you don't. that is why his pro agility is so quick, years of racquetball kept him light on his feet.
Inoke would always tell Ryan, just do your thing and get in the backfield...I'd rather worry about 1/2 the width of the field, than the whole 50 yards..... and the challenge for Ryan was getting through, under around, and by the double and triple team blocks. Funny terms, drop and go, push and pull for the bull, makapu'u slide, sherwoods spinner, hook and go, peek a boo, yank and crank, rip da grip, juke ya...and others......
the red shirt year is a blessing because he gets to train with coach tommy, learn UH's system, and be on the Scout team so he can go against the 1's every day....off the edge, inside....anywhere and everywhere.....and that will help him get some exposure to the coaches. like joe onosai said, "UH should be singing because Weber is still mourning"
GO WARRIORS GO WARRIORS
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:32 am
I went to Colorado State with Liz. She worked for Campus TV....and was always working hard. She lugged the camera around to stories and was always always good people. Down to earth sista. She is a proud Roughrider who is the consummate professional. Take care sista Liz. Off to new chapters sista. they will all be good.
On another note.......GREAT NEWS ABOUT HEFFERNEN'S APPOINTMENT!

BHF2 will be sorely disappointed if not down-right furious.

January 23rd, 2010 at 7:40 am
Good luck to Liz.
Can we petition to get Malika to take her spot?
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:44 am
Good Morning Gangeez!
Good for Tommy. Never heard anything but great things about him.
That's a bummer about the beautiful and talented Liz Chun, a hard worker and a tremendous media personality. My enduring image of Liz is her standing soaking wet in a driving rain to deliver a story about the Warriors while on the mainland. She always went the extra mile to do her job well, and she will be sorely missed. Hawaii has lost a truly unique member of its local sports media. Good luck to you Liz!
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:46 am
Things are okay. Our bbb and gbb teams are undefeated. My kids are doing well in SkillsUSA. More eduational foolishness than anyone could possibly shake a stick. Best part is half of the school year will be over next Friday!!! Whoo-hoo!

Condolences to the Docs about Saturn the dog. Saturn was one of a few "Tsaiko Dogs", and it was always fun to see him mentioned here from time to time. RIP fella!

Happy Birthday Jeannie! Tsai can use the help with his jokes...
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:52 am
Met a Warrior fan out in Aberdeen on Thursday night at a SkillsUSA leadership contest -- he was a judge proudly wearing his "H" shirt. Not a lurker, though. Told him about the blog, too.

Good luck Liz in everything you do/ You will be missed.

Nice to read the glowing reports on John Estes from the East West Shrine game in yesterday's post. Go get 'em John!!!
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:07 am
Don't post anything funny Pride. I'm still laughing about "strap off and boy down." Where do you come up with stuff like that?!

Never heard of Hue Jackson. Oh I no, I should google him.
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:16 am

January 23rd, 2010 at 8:43 am
It IS nice to see so many of the regulars here this morning. It's frightening however, to try and picture us in our "get of bed" attire postin' away on the ole WB. Try picturing Bulla, Pride, D1, Tom Mui and KK in their jammies and you'll understand what I mean.
BTW- Don't try to picture me, you definitely don't wanna go there!

Jeannie Lee is ST's "ghost joke writer"!
Now, that's worthy of front page news. And, all along I thought what a clever guy!
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:02 am
Koakane . . .
Nope. Dunno what kind I had. I was too little, then. But, it was a bunny suit there are no surviving photos. HA!

It's a big weekend for UH recruiting.
Yap. Ioane. Some Mainland guys.
It's going to come down to the wire.
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:06 am

11 days to LOI...
Can we take away their return tickets till then?
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:08 am
Thanks for intervening, Stephen. The discussion was getting kinda "jam"-ed up there!

January 23rd, 2010 at 9:09 am
Good morning everyone!
Happy Birthday Jeannie Lee!
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:11 am
kden time to go byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:13 am
DPK,
I'm thinkin' it'll be a Saints-Colts SB (sorry Stephen).
...news that Percy Harvin is suffering from migraines that have kept him out of practice this week. If he can't make the trip, it's a loss to the Vikes' offense and their special teams. Shockey hasn't practiced for the Saints but he was playing half the game last week with that gimpy knee.
...play-off game in Indy is a huge home field advantage for the Colts.
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:15 am
I wonder if Hue Jackson is related to Phil Jackson? Hmmmmm.
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:15 am
but mostly, my Honey-Do list is growing ever longer....
...have a terrific day erryboddy!
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:15 am
Jeannie always watches romantic comedies, like "My Best Friend's Wedding," "You've Got Mail," "When Harry Met Sally," etc.
So I used to ask: Why would you watch it on commercial TV when you own the DVD and can watch it at any time?
She said it was like how you might own a CD of a favorite song, but you'll always turn it up when it plays on the radio.
Makes sense.
So much so that I used that line in a conversation, and the person thought it was clever.
She used to always say "coolio." So I started saying that. Then my son started saying that. Now all of his friends say it.
Yesterday, I was listening to an ESPN interview with Steve Smith. He said coolio.
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:15 am
Aloha & good luck to Liz Chun.
Happy Birthday to Jeannie Lee!
Congrats to Tommy Heffernan.
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:18 am
I'm going to miss Mel.
Very no-nonsense guy.
But it should be interesting to see Tommy's program.
I remember him as a two-sport athlete: baseball and football.

DPK & d1,
Have to agree with d1 that the Colts & Saints make it to the Super Bowl.
That's what my 'head' says.
My 'heart' though, is with the Jets & Vikings!
January 23rd, 2010 at 9:34 am
Take care Liz.

January 23rd, 2010 at 10:05 am
hi lorna!
January 23rd, 2010 at 10:40 am
Last minute recruits that we need:
1) A tough running bank? Maybe Turner
2) An accurate kicker - hey, is Mercado available
3) A safety, ala Palomalu (you listening Ioane?)
4) A pass rusher - Jamora or Yap, maybe both
5) A run stuffing nose guard/defensive tackle - Epenesa or Lagafuina
6) Another cornerback - is Acker still interested
7) Athlete - all purpose (kick,punt returns)
Anybody else out there? Do we have enough offensive linemen? Let's pray!!!
January 23rd, 2010 at 10:40 am

Happy Birthday Jeanne!
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:11 am
Watched most of the first half of the East-West Sshrine game and, let me tell folks, that Estes is holding his own against the much bigger NG and DTs.
He kept pushing this large NG backwards or kept him at the line of scrimmage. His quick feet was valuable in attacking either DT when the NG was out of the game.
Go, John Estes!!!!! Way to represent UH!!!!!
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:18 am
Good job for Estes, represent 808
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:29 am
From ESPN's running blog at the E-W Game
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:33 am
No matter what the so called "self appointed pundits" say on this blog; no matter the outcome of this weekend's recruit visits may be, I have to applause the efforts of the UH coaches. Time and time again, I read the posts saying how they didn't go after this guy, and they're not on the ball, and they are all over the place with the scholarship offers; they don't know what they are doing, they have something against our local players....blah, blah, blah. But in the end, ST points out otherwise and the "pundits" come out looking like fools. I'm sure everyone knows that when Coach Mac was in TT, he was one of the top recruiters in the nations and was recognized for it. So have faith in what he does. If we don't get Jamora, Yap, or Epenesa, so what. We have a whole lot of other recruits that have verbally committed to UH that are great. Thanks to our coaches.
If any of the coaches are reading this, know there are those like me who have faith in your recruiting process; have faith in your efforts, strategies, local passion, analysis, knowing your team's weakness, strengths and needs. I support Coach Mac and his staff and wouldn't want him to leave.
And if there are UH players (including those who just verballed) out there, you made the right choice in the UH program. If you want to get in the NFL, UH will get you there.
Have a good day, everyone!
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:37 am
hoohiki....amen to that.
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:39 am
Just went back and read some posts....
Congratulations to the Beast!
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:54 am
Thanks, Hoohiki!
Congrats to da Beast!
HiHo
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:16 pm
Hoohiki
WELL SAID and Amen my brother.
Let's support OUR team
GO WARRIORS GO WARRIORS
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Hoohiki,
Right on
I totally agree that no matter how we do the next two weeks, we already have some very solid players already committed and ready to play for the home team. Like I said before, what ever we get from here on out is just the topping on the cake.
We thank the boys that have already verballed to play for the home team and we hope that the rest also choose to join but just know to all that have not verballed and are thinking about it, you will remembered as a Warrior and will be forgotten if you go away. We will follow you but we will always cheer on the one's that stay.
I will also say that I feel that coaches have done recruiting the right way. Show love to all the local boys but of course if they say they want to go away then wish them well and move on. If those recruits come calling then you show them love again. It's all part of a greater process that none of us are privy to. Like Hoohiki said, we just need to trust those that are getting paid to do this.
I Believe
Go Mack
Go Warriors
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:43 pm
Like I said during the season,
Just gotta enjoy the ride. It may be bumpy but like I say, who the heck cares.
January 23rd, 2010 at 1:04 pm
Tommy Heffernan:
The move by Greg McMackin switching strength and conditioning guys might just well be the best thing he's done as head coach of the UH football team. I know Tom, I know his work ethic, more importantly, I know the results he's gotten with other athletes.
Hoohiki:
Regarding your post about "pundits" and reccruiting etc., it's easy to see the sky in your world is pink. Enough said.
Liz Chun:
Seemingly good person, but that doesn't translate into good sports broadcaster. Suspect delivery, suspect knowledge,

hoohiki ~ Re: #101
Very well said. The cupboard is filling quit nicely. Greater days ahead.
Congratso Coolio to da Beast!
January 23rd, 2010 at 1:15 pm
I have question on Heffernan. If he was overall coordinator and Mel was his assistant how can this move be a promotion? Does it involve more pay? Is Mel still going to be coaching on the sidelines during games?
January 23rd, 2010 at 1:31 pm
Congrats to Ryan Eastman and the other walkons who have taken their first step in becoming a Warrior. Being a walkon used to be a joke many years ago. It is now a privilege, and for those who can make it to fall camp it is an honor. My greatest respect goes to them.
January 23rd, 2010 at 2:30 pm
Congratulations to the Beast!
January 23rd, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Mrs LTUHF
Lorna, thank you for visiting with us. (((hugs))) for you!
January 23rd, 2010 at 2:55 pm
We all knew that Ryan the Beast would make the walk-on cut and be invited to Spring ball. We also know that he will be an asset to the Warrior program with his character, integrety, skills, and knowledge of the game.
I do not know who the other 17 are, but best wishes to all who will be invited to Spring Ball.
ST, since Trey Gadbios(sp) will enroll at UH before August, will he be invited to Fall Camp and red shirt in 2010 or will he be given an opportunity to showcase his talents at Fall Camp? Since he participated in "track" before joining the Marines, how many years of eligibility will he have? I am presuming that the coaches have selected him also.
January 23rd, 2010 at 2:57 pm
hoohiki
Thanks for your post. I like that attitude a lot better than the ones that spend 90% of their time putting things down.
January 23rd, 2010 at 2:59 pm
Liz Chun is a wonderful person with a caring heart and a drive for professionalism. Qualities that more of us should hope to achieve.

Gadbois attended a school that didn't have football (I think). So, his clock starts with his enrollment and participation at UH.

Thank you for your thank you the other day! Although I think you were just being nice! Kekoa said he didn't understand a word I said...LOL Had to demonstrate in his driveway heh heh...

January 23rd, 2010 at 3:13 pm
Eh does anyone have a problem with the color pink. I actually like that color.
I guess my world is full with pink also since I agreed with Hoohiki. LOL

Covering 5 yards in 2 steps is SPEED!

kama crab:
I like pink; matter of fact my best pull over shirt was pink at UH and wore it with black pants and "cross leather slippers", the cadillac of slippers back then!!!
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:18 pm
I have the highest respect for Liz Chun and the work she has done as a sportscaster. She always knew what she was talking about and communicated enthusiasm. I hope she will be back. Plus being a caregiver for her father must hasve made things a lot ntougher. Something weird is going on in the TV industry in Honolulu. All the coming and going of personnel does not make sense to me.
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:23 pm
A-House & kama crab:
Agreed. Nothing wrong with pink. I have no qualms wearing this pink shirt to work periodically...of course doing so draws the stares of the more "cowboy" co-workers in the office.
Oh, and I also agree with Hoohiki's comment as well.
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:27 pm
Eh A-House,
How you? I knew there was someone out there that liked pink besides me. It's actually a real relaxing color. I wonder why someone would use the color as something disparaging against soemone else. Oh well I guess some people just don't know what there missing.
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:31 pm
CRW,
Dats what I'm talking about. You see only real men wear pink. Those that think pink is only for women and koolaid drinkers just don't know what there missing.
Eh you never know, you might just get some good looking people checking you out since you decided to wear pink. LOL
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:36 pm
Ho and anybody that thinks there is more to be desired when it comes to Liz Chun is small kine nutz and not in a good way.
Cousin Liz was the bomb. She had nothing but the best work ethic and got nothing but the facts. When everybody was in there rooms during one rain storm cousin Liz was out there pounding the pavement which gotta show what kind of desire she had for the job.
Eh No Make, you stay barking up the wrong tree on this one my friend.
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:47 pm
kama crab:
Only get da kine sleazy contractors in the office.....so good-looking peeps checking me out is next to nil. It is something nice to think (and dream) about, though.
January 23rd, 2010 at 3:54 pm
I'm still here....in my pink world. Maybe, my world is actually red, but with all this vog, its appears pink. Nah...my world is green and white and black.
Good luck to Liz Chun. Hope we can see you in another venue. I wonder if Liz likes pink?
To the Beast.....your skills, I admire, but its your conviction and commitment that impresses me. We're lucky to have you.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:05 pm
eh hoohiki....you still in maui?
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:07 pm
eh i like my steaks pink.
my sashimi pink.
hoohiki, no sweat 'em.
at least you not green with envy like that other who no mo friends.
mwahahahaha.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:09 pm
liz chun is a woman of courage. she took on a job that belonged to a man's world back then. she should be considered one of the pioneers for all present and future women sportscasters.
and admit it, she was the one who could charm the pants off june jones during an interview.
January 23rd, 2010 at 4:10 pm
...and not to mention the sacrifices she made for her dad.

Will ST surprise us with recruiting news after midnight tonight?
If yes, it will have to be GOOD!
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:20 pm
My front neighbor pitched this large 10'x10' tent for his 2 young children who spent maybe 10 minutes inside and went scurrying back into the house.
Don't think they will sleep inside the tent tonight as we are projected for some rain tonight.
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:21 pm
re:#101
Hoohiki -- Beautifully said. You are truly a good, supportive fan.
re #133
al -- Great post. Lis Chun's talent and work ethic can't be denied. She is great and hopefully will be back on the air soon.
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:23 pm
al:
The Edison QB reminded me a lot of a young Colt B when I watched the game on tv.
Too bad that UH has stopped looking at QBs. Speak of a diamond in the rough.
OK, you got the WR and CB; now, we need the DEs, DT, and FS/SS - local style! Don't forget to include the kicker from the north shore too!
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:24 pm
A-House . . .
Careful, now. Resist the urge to take over the tent and relive the days of your youth!
And, Mr. Tsai mentioned no other recruiting news until the middle of the week. Tsigh.

January 23rd, 2010 at 6:47 pm
Na Wahine fall to Boise 74-63. Next two at the SSC, got to take one of 2. Small steps, qualify for the WAC tournament and see what happens.
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:51 pm
Go BasketBows!
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Na Wahine in 8th place, 1/2 game back of Boise, UH has played one more game than Boise with a loss. By the end of week, they should be tied with Boise for 7th. Is 6 or 8 teams qualifying for the WAC tournament?
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:57 pm
our transition defense is lacking, again. We do everything at a slow tempo. The score report on UH must be simple, run on them in transition, play zone on defense and play help defense on Flemings.
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:58 pm
score=scouting
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:22 pm
Nice note about Gordy Shaw recruiting in Minnesota...I hadn't thought about it before, but it could benefit UH that this recruiting period all the way through NLI day occurs in the peak of winter on the mainland.

February 19, baseball season opens!
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:49 pm
Hiya Tsaikos.
wafan,
i am downright Furious. Liz Chun is the hottest tvlite dare eva wuz! gonna miss her Big Mack shows. and just wen da big Mack was doing some really good stuffs, shaking and making the image improvement for our Warriors. got my hopes up for our brudda Warriors!
hope the Jamora kid gets well soona den laters. and if he goes, too too bad. for us Warriors, winning is a journey, not a destination. Good job,
Coach. Keep it up. Keep it up!
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:02 pm
I guess UH isn't promoting "think green" for the SSC, only green I see are the empty seats. I watched part of the Clemson game, the entire arena appeared orange, UH needs June Jones branding vision, got to improve the atmosphere at the game.
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:19 pm
UH posts that 5677 fans attended each home game, lots of no shows, I don't think the actual number attending is above 3500 per game. The news media usually post different attendance numbers, anyway, I hope the unused tickets are paid tickets, at least the revenue is coming in.
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:59 pm
the men and women are now 2-5 in the WAC. But the expectation was a lot different with the men returning a senior laden team sans Amis out with an injury. 10 more games before the WAC tournament, but one is a non conference ESPN block buster game.
January 23rd, 2010 at 8:59 pm
No local tv sportscaster works harder than Liz in covering the biggest show in town - Warrior Football. All you gotta do is ask the railbirds at the practice fields and they will tell you her knowledge is unmatched because no one else shows up day after day like she does. Well except for Tsai. Liz will be missed.
January 23rd, 2010 at 10:10 pm
block buster?
don't they rent movies?
perhaps one means bracket buster?
January 23rd, 2010 at 10:18 pm
Liz Chun is one of the good things about Hawaii, as they say on KGMB. A really great talent who will definitely most definitely be missed.
John Estes looked really good during the East West Shrine game today. He manhandled several much larger D-linemen. With the great reports during the week of practice, hopefully he did enough to get him a combine invite.
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:48 pm
Al I knew there were a few B's in them
January 23rd, 2010 at 11:51 pm
i thought they already picked the NFL combine players, adding only the juniors who opt for the draft.
January 24th, 2010 at 12:22 am
first wave selected for combine.
re-evaluate and by recommendation of several teams addl players are picked up.

BG ~ Just back from small kind partay and not quite ready for bed. Noticed your post from earlier in the day. I had to LOL, and say Mahalo for the house call yesterday. The on-da-spot demo of speed and quickness off da line did catch me off guard. I didn't expect such a lively demonstration!
Your expertise as a former Track coach will help Ryan. It should add to his explosive start off the line. It's going to give him little technical edge, and the beast will certainly benefit from it.

Legend has it that "ugg" is short for "ugly" - so, "ugg boots" apparently meant "ugly boots." For decades, "ugg" was generic term used for sheepskin boots made in Australia. The word was so commonplace that it was found in Australian dictionaries, and ugg boots were also known as "ug" or "ugh" boots. But in the United States, when people refer to "UGG boots," they're usually talking about the boots made by Deckers Outdoor Corporation, the parent company of "UGG Australia."So if you're traveling the world and talking about footwear, it's good to know that when the term "ugg boot" is used, it could be referring to an Australian-made sheepskin boot, or a popular brand name boot.

Thirty years ago people who loved gadgets were considered as geeks or freaks. Now, people who avoid gadgets are considered to be the weird ones.
