Former Kamehameha softball star injured

May 22nd, 2010
By Stephen Tsai

Prayers for Liane Horiuchi, who was critically injured in a car accident in Indiana.

Horiuchi, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, just completed her senior softball season at Purdue. She previously played shortstop at Tennessee.

Horiuchi reportedly suffered head injuries, and has undergone a couple of surgeries.

Well, the Rainbow Wahine softball team plays in the Regionals today and the football team begins offseason weight-training Monday and ... oh, heck, I've got nothing today. I'll be busy with brother Mike's wedding, so readers, you get to take over the blog today.

I'll try to monitor using my cell phone.

Thanks again.

Sorry - I can't find a link for the Wahine vs. Trees Softball game. It's not specifically listed on the Stanford or CSTV lists. ESPN is showing softball all day - but again, no mention of the important game. The same feed is on the streaming sites. I can only find Gametracker and radio. :( Anyone else w/ better luck?

  18. 808ike:

    Brew,

    Wear a T-shirt that says "BREW 808"

  24. Da Punchbowl Kid:

    Brew-

When you access that link, go to the menu of broadcast feeds on the left side and go to the bottom of that list to see the next set of feeds. Hawaii vs. Stanford is midway down that second list.

    Hope thats not too confusing.

  25. Da Punchbowl Kid:

    GO WAHINE!!!

  26. 808ike:

Stanford web site is only listing game tracker at the present time.

  27. 808ike:

Majam is tied for first place in HRS. Byu player hit a HR yesterday to tie Majam.

  30. Ralph:

ESPN's Mendoza and Mowins describe the floating strike zone that is frustrating Hope Rush, Ga Tech's pitcher, and at the bottom 4th, Oregon is ahead 11-2. Stop GT at the top of the 5th, mercy rule.

  31. Ralph:

Yee and Quiocho hit home runs yesterday.

  37. Garret:

The Idaho Statesman today provided the details of the MWC's TV contract. This fits in nicely with what Pomai was asking for this morning. BSU plays 5 non-Saturday games this year, and we know that UH is getting $75k extra from ESPN for playing a game on a day other than Saturday, so it is safe to say that BSU gets by far the most money from the WAC's TV deal of any WAC school...and they would get $700k more under the MWC's deal.

For starters, Mountain West Conference football teams play just four non-Saturday games this season. No team plays more than one such game.

Boise State is scheduled to play three Friday games, one Tuesday game and one Monday game this year. The Broncos also have played on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in recent years.

The deal began in 2006 and is worth $120 million over 10 years. The contract runs through 2015-16 - meaning Boise State likely would have to play five years in the Mountain West before a reunion with ESPN would be possible.

ESPN pays the WAC about $4 million per year.

Boise State would collect around $700,000 more per year from the Mountain West deal.

  38. Garret:

Versus and CBS College Sports show eight to 10 football games each per season. The Mtn. shows 30. They combine for about 100 men's basketball games (including a total of 24 on Versus and CBS College Sports) and 20-24 women's basketball games. That's far more basketball exposure than is offered by the ESPN deal.

All of this year's football broadcasts will be in high definition.

  39. Garret:

BSU could still be on ESPN more than UH (1 ESPN game this season?) if they moved to the MWC.

Playing in the Mountain West doesn't scare away ESPN. The sports giant brokered and will air a made-for-TV game between Oregon State and TCU this year at Cowboys Stadium. ESPN will show TCU twice during the regular season and likely in its bowl game.

Plus, ESPN's College GameDay originated from three Mountain West stadiums last year. The show never has been to Bronco Stadium.

It's important to note that the Mountain West TV deal only applies to its members' home games. Nonconference road games are covered by the home team's TV deal.

That means next year Boise State could appear on ESPN when it plays at Mississippi and Toledo even if the school joins the Mountain West.

  40. Garret:

Their second article about this today has even more information. BYU gets all of its games on national TV and TCU and Utah only have 1 game missing...the game they aren't showing for Utah is the game against SJSU, which shows how little respect SJSU gets.

Among the Mountain West’s big three — TCU, Utah and BYU — only two games aren’t expected to air on TV this year. Those are Tennessee Tech at TCU and San Jose State at Utah.

  41. Garret:

It is interesting that in a year or so, CBS and NBC could each own 50% of the VS channel.

Comcast is buying NBC-Universal. They have big plans for Versus. So in less than a year you are going to have the MountainWest Sports Network owned 50-50 by basically NBC and CBS.

  42. Garret:

For those who put down the mtn network (including me!) this is an interesting note. No wonder TCU can recruit so well...this (and their indoor practice facility and history of winning) sure helps them:

TCU plays 10 games on ESPN, Versus or CBS College Sports and just one on The Mtn.

  43. Garret:

    Congratulations Mike and Tiffany!

  44. Garret:

Utah's President says they should throw out the math and give the MWC an AQ spot.

“If any conference in the country has proved itself, we think it’s us,” Utah president Michael Young told the Idaho Statesman. “We think, math be damned, it’s pretty clear. … There’s a real sense that if this system has even a modicum of rationality we ought to be in. But we don’t make those decisions and how much that will influence my fellow presidents in their deliberation is hard to say.”

The Mountain West ranks third in highest-ranked team, seventh in average team ranking and tied for third in Top 25 points during the first two years of a four-year BCS evaluation cycle. That’s good enough to apply for an exemption from the presidential oversight committee, but not good enough for an automatic bid. The Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference currently don’t meet the standard that the Mountain West is required to meet but are not required to.

Adding Boise State would move the Mountain West to first in Top 25 points and significantly cut the gap between the Mountain West and the Big Ten for No. 6 in average team ranking. The Mountain West must finish in the top six in that category to get the automatic bid without appealing to the oversight committee.

  45. Garret:

If the Big 10 raids the Big East (like the rumors that they will take Rutgers and might grab Pitt or Uconn), then the MWC could be in the top 6 of *all* categories and become an AQ conference. The math has them fairly close to both the Big 10 and Big East...if they add 2 other teams with high computer rankings, they could become an AQ conference automatically.

  46. Pomai:

The CBS link has it as watch now.

  47. whitey:

good morning tsaikos. go wahines softballs!!

  48. reduntancy:

let me write about the same thing over, over and over again.

  49. whitey:

i am sure there are two sides to jesse williams not even considering UH and wish him the best on his decision. what gets me is that UH was the only school that tried to get him into football and now that he is a "star" he has no interest in the warriors.

  50. whitey:

but then the question becomes, if we all belong to the same division, are we all not equal??? if the answer is no, then there should be no such thing as title ix because sports is not equal. if the answer is yes, then there should be a playoff.

  51. whitey:

going back to work. see you all later. work is not easy in the city that neva sleeps.

    Keep it going girls

  87. A-House:

    Garret:

Your posts imply that if the "numbers are correct", then MWC should be a shoo-in for an AQ status.

What happens when a conference's number dip BELOW the "magical" numbers? Conference is no longer an AQ? IF this is the case, then the "magical numbers" are inflexible and the conference must fight to stay within the BCS confines; or, once a member always a member?

Also, if the MWC "magical numbers" are higher than a current BCS conference, the MWC automatically replaces this conference?

  88. ct:

    ground out to Ricketts

"UHU" is what happens when media people are not respectful of a program and fail to do their research or doublecheck their work.

It's like when and SEC television announcer says that "Georgia Tech leads the nation in home runs" on national television.

    ARE YOU EFFIN KIDDING ME?

what action or actions must a person residing or visiting Arizona do to initiate a challenge to his or her citizenship. Only a person that looks Hispanic, Mexican, Spanish, or person of color would be challenged, but a person of color doesn't mean he or she is illegal. Imagine driving down the hwy, freeway and the highway patrol sees a person of interest, looks Hispanic, no probable cause, would the officer pull him or her over to question his or her citizenship. Blacks (afro-americans) have the same issue, how come they are more frequently pulled over by police, and its not a question of citizenship, but they are suspected of carrying drugs or doing something illegal without probable cause to stop and search.

  213. Slugger:

So, Reinebold mentioned in his twitter feed that he's going with JJ to Japan and Samoa. JJ and Reinebold have some speaking engagements in Japan...what connection to the Japan market do they have?

ST, I know that you are busy now, but could you check whether or not UH people are involved with JJ's latest medical mission to Samoa? Not only is it a great thing to do for the people of Samoa, UH has gotten several commits from Samoa that the coaches met on previous JJ missions. It is nice for JJ to pay for UH's delegation to go to Samoa...especially on the recruiting budget.

  220. Garret:

Two Warriors have started a business in Hawaii--hopefully their business is doing well.

Former University of Hawaii Warrior football players Kurt Milne and David Farmer have redirected their athletic energy into an equally exhilarating activity.

Instead of running to the end zone, they are running food orders from local restaurants to their clients’ doorsteps.

On Feb. 8, the athletes launched Aloha 2 Go LLC, a catering and food-delivery service targeting busy professionals on the go.

For a flat $8 fee, customers can get spaghetti from Auntie Pasto’s or fish tacos from Wahoo’s delivered straight to their door within the hour.

  221. Garret:

Things that were *not* redundant (yes, *I* can spell it correctly) about earlier posts because they had never been posted here before:

    1. The precise details of the MWC's TV deal. We also got more details of the WAC's TV deal that directly impacts UH's revenue.

    2. The fact that MWC teams may play more games on ESPN than WAC teams, which means the standard argument that the WAC TV deal was better because of its ESPN coverage is not a strong argument for the WAC anymore.

    3. The fact that *all* of BYU's games and all but one of TCU's and Utah's games are on national TV (and all but 1 of TCU's games are on ESPN, CBSCS or VS), which means that if BSU goes there they will have *more*, not less national TV coverage.

    4. The fact that the MWC's TV deal runs through 2016. That means that the hope that the WAC and MWC could form a joint TV deal is not going to happen. So, that best-case scenario I posted the other day is now thrown out the window.

    5. The statement by Utah's President that they should ignore the math and just make the MWC an AQ conference. That article also points out that if the MWC added BSU, they would have more ranked teams during the BCS evaluation period than *any* conference.

Aside from all of that, it is probably important to note that all of this information about the MWC's TV deal is coming from the Boise newspaper.

    Hi LizK. Like your #216!!!!!!

See you at T-gate in 3 months.

  224. Garret:

    A-House,

To answer your question, I do not think that any AQ conference will be dropped by the BCS in 2012 since they still meet 2 of the 3 AQ criteria and aren't far away from the 3rd criteria. However, the BCS agreement allows the BCS to add another AQ conference, which is what the MWC is trying for.

The MWC could be added as an AQ conference even if they do not satisfy all 3 criteria by going through the appeal process. They already satisfy 2 of the criteria and they have to pass one of the 3 AQ conferences in average computer ranking to be automatically added (no appeal necessary).

Stephanie Ricketts has NEVER been called for an illegal pitch from the time she pitched her first ball for UH to today's game.

It's a judgement call and I find it "INTERESTING" that of all the hundreds of D1 softball teams in the country and of all that have TV coverage compared to UH and K-5's local broadcasts that they get Stephanie some air time in this manner.

    PATHETIC!!!! AUWE!!!

The Arizona immigration law is being touted by proponents to reduce illegal immigration because they commit more crimes than American citizens. Of course right after the law passed the legislature a new study on that subject showed the opposite to be true. Natural born citizens were found to commit twice the crimes of illegal aliens.

Ok... now that makes more sense.

I think I was right in my initial reaction to Slugger providing that link of the NCAA video on illegal pitches.

I couldn't open the link, so I was going on what Slugger said initially about it being of Ricketts, which she later corrected and others too that it was Kaia.

    I reacted that way because:

1)I knew for a fact, based on my memory and all the games I've been to that Stephanie Ricketts has NEVER been called on an illegal pitch in her career at UH thus far.

2)It was indeed a UH pitcher, in Kaia Parnaby, and why oh why does she get her footage slapped on this NCAA video on illegal pitching when others in more high profile programs are most likely doing the same thing? We barely get any mention on the great things this program has done this season and in the past, people can't get their facts or names straight on ESPN, and journalists on the mainland are citing incorrect stats (Georgia Tech as the #1 home run and hitting % team in the country????) but this is how one of our players gets some "publicity"?

  266. Kazz ($20.00):

In attempting to use stats to scout the Red Raiders, I first had to take a look at their season schedule.

They had some cream puffs in the beginning like Texas State, Southern Utah, Maine, UMKC (whatever the heck that is...), UT Arlington, etc... They had some names also, like SDSU, Wisconsin, and Florida State, which they beat along with the likes of Texas and Oklahoma which they also have a victory over.

They remind me of what Oklahoma State brought to the table against the Wahine. Basically a team that will capitalize on your errors in a big way.

This Texas Tech team is NOT the best team or even the second or third best team the Wahine will have played all season long, but arguebaly the BEST team we've faced all post season long.

(stats are as of 05/22/2010 courtesy of texastech.com)

Hitting-wise, Tech is batting .293 as a team. They are led by All Regional player Emily Bledsoe who is batting .365, has a slugging % of .654 and has an on base % of .456. However, she is not a home run threat as she has 9 on the season.

Mikey Kenny is the threat... Well, as threatening as it gets for the Techsters I guess... Kenny has 15 HRs on the season, batting .315, slugging .664, and has an on base % of .407.

Offensively as team, they have 39 homers on the season while their opponents all season long have had 33. This is key because, they have YET to face a HR threat in the Wahine and if we get to their pitcher early, as we have thus far in post season play, then we can get a chance to really mess with her head. Opponents have batted .222 against Texas Tech as well and I don't think I need to get into what our batting % is. Again, Texas Tech, on paper has yet to face a team with our hitting consistency and power.

So what can Texas Tech do to move on to the Super Regional and to send the Wahine home packing? RUN! RUN THE BASES!!! Coach Coolen FULLY expects more pressure to be placed on his infielders as the tournament moves along and this team will present that threat.

Texas Tech is 49-59 on stolen bases to attempts and we know them good ole Southern folk lyyyyyyyyyke to run at'chall and as I mentioned earlier, Tech will make the Wahine pay, if we cannot control our errors. Opponents have committed 85 errors against Tech, while Tech committing 58 of their own all helping in a 36-17 record on the season.

Can Tech pitch? YES. Well, on paper at least. Ashly Jacobs has an ERA of 2.02, 14-9 on the season, has 117 Ks. Other than this, I have no clue what her style is.

In the end the Wahine will have to remain focused in on the task at hand. They've been hitting consistently well enough and they have watched Tech, at times during this tournament to know what the Techsters can bring. They need to keep believing in their abilities and CANNOT, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! CANNOT REPEAT THEIR 4-3 LOSS PERFORMANCE AT LAS CRUCES WHEN THE CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL WAS IN FRONT OF THEM.

However!!! It's a little different here. The Wahine have NEVER played Texas Tech. The Wahine have not seen a running/base stealing threat like Tech since March 20th against CAL.

Ricketts will probably get the nod again, but we'll see how long her "leash" will be this time. I know Coolen doesn't want to deal with a second game tomorrow, if it comes down to pitching, but it will come down to pitching for us.

The pattern of this game makes me believe that the Wahine, in facing a pitcher they have never seen before, may get them off to a slow start. If that happens, it could be a while until the Wahine hitting machine starts to get warmed up and Ricketts will have to keep them in the game and she has that ability!!! Against UW and Stanford earlier in the year, she kept us competitive when we couldn't find our offense. She did it before and she can do it again.

Even if the Wahine start hitting right away like they did against the Aggies and the Cardinal, we still will need pitching to take us home if and when the opposing Tech pitcher settles in.

    Prediction:

    WAHINE 7
    Texas Tech 5

    meanwhile back at the farm...
the democrats have only themselves to blame that a non-democrat broke through in the special election vacated by incumbent democrat abercrombie. had the democrats agree to a unified candidate that one would have won by a landslide.

it'll be interesting since the term is for only six months and then the general election will decide the permanent congressman.

if anything it is a good wake up call to the democratic party in hawaii.

Agree 100% with you (#279). More than anything, rightly or not, it characterizes the dems as a group that spells "party" with an "I". How are they going to explain to us everyday folks why they lack definitive leadership and teamwork. The whole campaign was one big sucking hole for them.

Enough walking around...back to the books.

I remember being refused getting a haircut because they didn't cut "Jap" hair. When I told them I was not Japanese, they said that they didn't care.

Discrimination hurts everyone - whether it is "kill a haole" day, being a called a "gook" or "slopehead" - you name it.

Perhaps its time that "all men are created equal" not only in name but in attitude.

Tennessee dumped Horiuchi after the season ended.

  291. Ralph:

"crow hopping" rule could be unique rule in U.S.A. softball or a problem for Aussie pitchers. Kaia was called on it this season as Labrat mentioned, so did the Troy pitcher from Aussie land whose coach is an Aussie and Kaia's club coach. Smethhurst did the same, but not often. Brooke Wilkins got called for an illegal crow hop pitch 3 times in the same game during the Kansas regional, and she also was called on it in another game at the same regional.

  292. Watch Godgifu:

RE: #279 - This is a sports blog, not a political blog -
That being said, might I throw in the fact that a lot of outsiders have come into our State's US House Race. One was the so-called Independent Women Voters running those ads against Ed Case.

IWV is part of the Independent Women's Forum which Wikipedia identified as "a virtual 'Who's Who' of Washington's Republican establishment."

Doesn't help when one Democratic candidate claimed victory in coming in second. Perhaps she forgot that the purpose was to defeat the Republican candidate, not to defeat someone in their own party.

    Nuf said.

  293. OldDiver:

    #279

That is the difference between the Republican and Democratic Parties. The Democrat's are the party of inclusion. They take anyone and everyone and encourage everyone to run. This is why at times it seems the Democrats are disorganized. The Republican's, well are the opposite. The real solution is a run off election, where one needs at least 50% plus one vote.

  294. labrat:

Why does Stanford have a regional named after their school? They are the only one and they are not the top seed in the regional? Their coach thinks that UHU is just okay so I guess now she must think that her team is junk.

    BG,

When the Wahine are on TV and Majam is at bat, I'm really just trying to watch where those pitches are even though it's obvious they will try to get it outside the plate.

I haven't noticed any change to where her hands are on the bat.

  299. d1島:

They take anyone and everyone and encourage everyone to run

 I think you may have a hard time proving that "Case"! ;-)

  300. BG:

Just stopped by before going to bed...eyes are sooo tired.

Kazz...K-Jam's hands position on the bat was really a non-item. Just goes to show what odd items will interest me sometimes. lol It only fits if someone considers the greater picture of non-stereo-types that Majam is. A somewhat pint sized lead-off batter who is tied for the national league in homeruns.and way up there in walks. Who chokes up on the bat slightly and still hits with power.

On a slightly different tack, I was chuckling at the comments of the UC Davis coach who said that she thought her team did pretty good. After all, they kept the top of the Wahine order under control and it was the 7th place batter (Tau'alii) who hit it out (like that doesn't count). C'mon lady! You got mercy ruled!!!

OK. That's it. Pleasant dreams everyone...

  301. BG:

d1...your wit is as long as your name is short!!! heheheh

  302. Ralph:

BG Barry Bonds chokes up on the bat handle. But history will always question whether steroids helped him and no one will care how he gripped his bat to hit all of his home runs. Oh, Dusty Baker also advocated choking up on the handle for leverage, balance and increased bat speed.

  303. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc:

What is the reference to UHU? What does it mean? Who made it and where?

OFF SPORTS: If you want my take on tonight's election results, see David Shapiro's blog below.

LET'S GO WAHINE!! Is the game going to be on tv? I mean a real tv, not a computer. I went to the UH's AD website and it looked as if there was a tv icon in tomorrow's calendar listing.

Where are the Super Regionals being held. There'll be eight of them next weekend with two teams each playing two out of three. Will the teams go to neutral fields? Will any of the teams be playing at home?

In yesterday's blog, someone commented that Herman Frazier was responsible for hiring Greg McMackin as head coach and offering him the Big Bucks. Didn't Frazier get fired within a day or two after the team returned from New Orleans? I thought the new coach was hired about three weeks later.

GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!! GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!! GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!! GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!! GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!! GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!! GO WAHINE!! GO RAINBOWS!!

I also asked ST if UH was participating in JJ's football clinic and medical mission, since that is a great thing for both Samoa and UH.

JJ and Reinebold are also going to Canada for some speaking engagement according to Reinebold's twitter.

  329. Garret:

It is interesting to me that in the Press Conference where Petersen was hired, BSU's President openly talked about how he planned for BSU to leave the WAC.

Kustra hired Chris Petersen as his football coach and established some lofty goals at the press conference.

"The dream for me is national rankings, the dream for me is someday another conference, the dream for me is busting the (Bowl Championship Series).

"Chris Petersen can get all those things done for the Boise State University Broncos."

Petersen has produced three teams that finished the season in the top 11 in the national rankings.

He has busted the BCS twice - and he might just push the Broncos into the Mountain West.

  330. Garret:

Is Karl Benson upset that BSU has been trying to get into the MWC for over 6 years? NO!

"He's been consistent, and I respect the fact that he's been upfront and candid," WAC Commissioner Karl Benson said. "He hasn't tried to hide his plans for Boise State, both academically and athletically."

Yes, it was a huge wake up call for the Democratic party in Hawaii and the Republicans will make much "hay" out of this telling the nation that Pres Obama's party could not even win in his own district!!!

I will pointedly place blame on Dan Inouye for his stuborness and ego several years ago when chose to make every effort to "dump on" Ed Case because Case did not go along with him on running against Akaka.

Do not mistake my appreciation for Dan Inouye as he, of all people, have done the most for Hawaii in all his years "on the hill".

However, for the sake of his beloved Hawaii, it was a mistake and it will be most telling when he and Akaka are no longer in the Senate and Hawaii must elect 2 "brand new" Senators who will have 0 experience and senority. Worst case scenario is both pass away close to each other and Hawaii must hold 2 elections to replace them.

I believe the Democratic candidate in November will prevail over Djou and it will be one of the most "short lived" stay in the House.

  338. 808ike:

    Garret,

    Agree with you!

Benson talks many times about taking a proactive approach. He has a
    3 step proactive procedure:

    1) Wait and see what happens.
    2) Evaluate and contemplate.
    3) With political correctness, make EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Herman Frazier and Carl Benson had the same mentor.

Guud morning Tsaikos!...another busy day in the club house
Was agreat day yesterday, Na Wahine, Basebows, (rather have then tagged as Warriors but...), mustard's win (however short lived, good wake up call but expected) graduation. Hope the Wahine will make a huge statement today with a win. Then those donkeys at ESPN will have to give credit to where it is due.

UHU?....Parrot Fish...lives around the reefs, eats coral, because of that we get sand...really, if you watch them as they are feeding, you'll see "sand" as they poop. Sleeps under rock outcropping at night and they cover themselves with a /webblanket of mucous. Best time to catch them is at night while they sleep.
Good fish with a lot of white meat.
    One UHU, scaled, and scored.
Baking pan or heavy aluminum foil
T-leaf, for lining pan or foil
lup cheong, (chinese sausage) mushrooms, maui/waialua onions, cilantro, green onions, ginger, (finely slivered) carrots (julienne) chicken stock, black beans, peanut oil
Put everything together except veggies and seal. Bake or over charcoal till cooked. put veggies over and pour smoking hot peanut oil over and serve.
THAT IS WHAT AN UHU IS!...NOT NA WAHINE SOFTBALL!

GO WAHIINE!...as one of our respected Tsaikos say.... make memories, make memories, make memories..and in this case make those donkeys at ESPN and other teams REMEMBER YOU!

Walter Williams makes a solid point regarding immigration. I am proud of Arizona for the stance they are taking and that we haven't backed down. The law is clear - Illegal immigrants are illegal, racial profiling is illegal, and we intend on enforcing the laws on the books. It's nice to see cooler heads remarking on this issue. Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  365. Stefanie Kilmartin:

Is it me or did this article make you want to buy an iPad?

  366. Common Sense:

I have heard a lot more individuals discussing that the law is Unconstitutional under the Supremacy Clause. The Supremacy Clause forbids state and local laws that contradict federal laws in matters where the federal government has authority to act.
Once again it only applies in situations exactly where the law contradicts the current law. Arizona's law requires that State/Local authorities hand over suspect illegals to the proper federal authorities. Maybe you've forgetten (since we haven't enforced these laws) but it is still a crime to enter our country illegally.
But as long as we are talking about Constitutionality let's talk about the Commerce Clause on the Constitution (Article I, Section 8). This clause prohibits states and localities from passing laws that burden interstate or foreign commerce by, among other things, creating "discriminations favorable or adverse to commerce with particular foreign nations."
Boycotting Arizona is UNCONSTITUTIONAL so knock it off already. Also to the Arizona government, how about we step up and actually file suit against these cities?

If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

I do not know why some people frown upon Clickbank, their service is awesome and it takes all the headaches away from the product owner. Yes they have scam offers on the network, but so do some other CPA companies. For the ease of use and reliability factor I would suggest clickbank as well to anyone either just starting out or even the experienced marketer like yourself. Glad you didn’t bash it before actually trying it out.
