The Warrior Beat

Senior moment

January 29th, 2011

Former UH slotback Greg Salas has one catch for two yards during today's Senior Bowl.

"Just didn't get a lot of balls thrown his way," agent Kenny Zuckerman wrote in a text to the Warrior Beat.

But Zuckerman said the most important phase was the practices leading to the game, and that Salas "had a solid week."

Zuckerman added: "Next up, combine!"

Maybe it's a good thing that most of the important scouting occurs in the practices leading to the Senior Bowl. That's because today's Senior Bowl was shown on the NFL Network, which is not available to Hawaii's Oceanic subscribers. It is still part of the dispute between the network and cable carriers, such as Time Warner, which owns Oceanic.

And, yet, there are reports that Time Warner wants to be a partner in the soon-to-be-formed network for the Texas Longhorns?

Maybe a Hawaii exemption needs to be created. In exchange for hosting the Pro Bowl, Hawaii cable subscribers can get the NFL Network? Hey, one can dream.

OK, we're all envious of PowderPuff now (or we want to be her best friend):

Thoughts and prayers to DPK, who is back in the hospital for a follow-up procedure, and to Roosevelt High classmate, Laureen (Uno) Uwaine, who underwent surgery yesterday and begins medical treatment soon. Wishing healthful recoveries to both.
