The Warriors have abandoned efforts to recruit Tate Forcier, apparently because the former Michigan quarterback does not project to meet the requirement to enroll at UH this fall, according to people familiar with the situation. UH's fall semester begins Aug. 22.
Forcier had told ESPN and the WB that he would be visiting UH this weekend. He even sent UH his transcripts, the Warriors' requirement for an official recruiting trip.
The Warriors, who were extremely interested in bringing in Forcier for a get-to-know-you meeting, apparently withdrew from the running because it could not be determined when Forcier would be able to join the team. Because Forcier must sit out a season as a condition of transferring, if he had chosen UH, it was hoped he could learn the system this fall and compete for a starting job in the spring.
The Warriors are recruiting two other quarterbacks. If they choose UH, they would be eligible to join the Warriors in January.
