Moniz, Falemalu honored

September 5th, 2011


Quarterback Bryant Moniz and defensive end Paipai Falemalu today were named the WAC's top offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.

In a 34-17 victory over Colorado, Moniz rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns, and was credited with a 22-yard scoring pass to Joey Iosefa.

Falemalu had six tackles, of which three were in the Colorado backfield, including two solo sacks.

Today's updates:

• Aaron Brown has been reinstated as the No. 1 weakside linebacker. That means Corey Paredes movse back to middle linebacker.

• Darius Bright and Allen Sampson will share the left wideout's job. Head coach Greg McMackin said Bright will have to endure the discomfort of a turf toe suffered in July.

• Right guard Chauncy Winchester-Makainai was on crutches today. He underwent an MRI on his right knee. He believes he will be able to make the two-game trip to Washington and Las Vegas.
