Laurel, Clapp out for season
Head coach Greg McMackin confirmed this morning that left tackle Clayton Laurel and right slotback Justin Clapp will be lost for the remainder of the season because of injuries. But then at his news conference today, McMackin said Clapp would miss four weeks, which equates to the end of the regular season but leaves open the possibility of a return if the Warriors qualify for the Hawaii Bowl.
Against Utah State, Laurel suffered a broken left arm, and Clapp suffered two broken ribs.
McMackin said an MRI showed right wideout Royce Pollard has a torn meniscus in his left knee. Pollard will undergo a second MRI today. Offensive coordinator Nick Rolovich and Pollard have not ruled the senior wideout out for the Nevada game. McMackin indicated Pollard would not play.
McMackin also said one of the scenarios is to use David Graves as an emergency wideout. Graves will practice there tomorrow.
