Game day: Tulane
November 26th, 2011
By Stephen Tsai
By Stephen Tsai
No sense rehashing the obvious.
What's at stake has been stated many times.
It will be interesting to see how David Graves performs. It's always a little different when an opponent has a full week to prepare for a specific quarterback.

Really hoping they are able to sell out the SSC for the vb subregional games. That would be awesome to see and hear.

Hot scones slathered with strawberry preserves for breakfast. No cranberries, though.

I still like The Undertaker as a nickname for David Graves...
November 26th, 2011 at 6:56 am
Having a week to prepare for David Graves will not help. David brings an infectious enthusiasm to the game which spreads to all three phases of the game. Like many I see something special in him.
Go Warriors!

Your cousin (?) Makani sang the National Anthem & Hawai'i Pono'i at the game last night. I have a short video of it that I'll post later. Great voice!

Lol ST: are you referring to what would happen to Graunke after practicing all week knowing he'd have the start? Pressure would rear it's ugly head...hope that's not the case this time since Graves did not have a great week of practice. Even throwing to air thru walk-thrus was not pretty...let's hope the fact that Tulane is supposed to be an easy win gives the compensating edge!

Go Warriors!!!

Last night, I thought I would save time and start the virus scan and it went on all night. A royal kick in the okole!!
Therefore, I went back into our "saved" emails to delete as much as I could this morning and found an email from Florida Ted about our meeting at Golden Corral in Orlando. This one I must save.
Surely miss that guy!!!!!!

We need to get Red Raider nation to tonight's game. They looked awesome in all red and waving white towels. And they got the chant going. Pre-Christmas wish - have UH fans cheer like Kahuku's for the last 3 games.

Mahalo for the info, Slugger! Yeah, she loves to sing. She has written several songs too. It's in her blood. We come from a very musical family. Can't wait to see/hear her!

November 26th, 2011 at 11:30 am
What's the enrollment for Kahuku and Iolani?
November 26th, 2011 at 11:46 am
Utah State on their way to beating Nevada....up 21-17, less than a minute, with the ball. Went for it on 4th and inches at mid-field.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:47 am
ST....my guess is that Kahuku's enrollment is double of Iolani's.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:49 am

My god.... Wolf Pack heading to lockers before time runs out and refuses to shake hands with Utah State players? What is that?
November 26th, 2011 at 11:51 am
Yup...Utah State wins.....qualifies for bowl game. They deserve to go somewhere. I believe they will finish in a tie for 2nd in the WAC, with just 2 losses.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:53 am
#63 - try this instead
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/956677-hawaii-football-warriors-qb-david-graves-has-sights-set-on-sheraton-hawaii-bowl
November 26th, 2011 at 12:00 pm
Impressed with Utah State, wow, 4 wins in a row and all last minute squeakers by either rallying or holding on. More impressive that all this done with a backup QB that came into the UH game only throwing 7 passes all year. Well da guy must of grown up, together with his team!
November 26th, 2011 at 12:00 pm
Give credit where it's due. Gary Anderson of Utah State deserved to be Coach of the Year in the WAC. His plan is now showing results.
November 26th, 2011 at 12:03 pm
What irony... the team that nobody wanted wins the WAC... heh heh... just rewards, eh?
November 26th, 2011 at 12:23 pm
Dennis Erickson on the hot seat ? Will meet with ASU officials.
what, we might seem him again in the WAC / MWC ?
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/ncaa/11/26/asu.erickson.ap/index.html?sct=cf_t2_a7
November 26th, 2011 at 12:28 pm
Big congratulations to Utah State!! They wanted it, they worked hard for it as a team & they deserve it. Hope they take the WAC title & their bowl game.
November 26th, 2011 at 12:34 pm
ST #58. Enrollment at Iolani is 1315 total for grades 7-12. Average class size (inc girls) is just over 200. Think punahou is over double that.
November 26th, 2011 at 12:34 pm
Isn't it ironic that none of 3 teams that are leaving the WAC to find better competition in the MWC, won the WAC this year. Had the conference realignments happened this year instead of last year, this might be a lot different.Good for LA Tech and Utah St for strong finishes!
November 26th, 2011 at 12:40 pm
ST#58. Kahuku class size is about 300.
November 26th, 2011 at 12:45 pm
Hey all,
Not sure if this was posted already but Kealoha Pilares was one of 3 NFC players of the week!
http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2011/11/23/smith-clemons-pilares-named-nfc-players-week/
November 26th, 2011 at 12:50 pm
Utah State plays to win, takes chances when warranted. Their coaches got olos, they had nothing to lose this year and made the right decisions at the right time. Totally agree that Anderson deserves WAC Coach of the Year, look at what he had to work with. Plus, 1st QB got hurt; not only did not miss a beat but played with great efficiency using the backup QB's strengths.
Way different than playing not to lose!

thanks for the link- it's a very good version but not a patch on IZ, I LOVE that song and have IZ on CD. It always makes me want to go back and visit the beautiful island with the beautiful people.
But, for today, there will be cheering and yelling from Downunder.

November 26th, 2011 at 1:02 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 1:16 pm
And the rout is on in Ruston...
La. Tech 44
NMSU 0
End of 3rd quarter.
With Utah State beating Nevada, La. Tech will be the outright WAC Champs.
November 26th, 2011 at 1:27 pm
did the iolani red raider fans cheer for kahuku last night?
November 26th, 2011 at 1:45 pm
Al #82. Yup. They both bleed Red.
November 26th, 2011 at 1:58 pm
Congrats to La. Tech.
Outright WAC Champs.
November 26th, 2011 at 2:10 pm
Kahuku doesn't even make the top ten in public high school enrollment, less students than Waipahu. Go figure all this Division I and Division II nonsense.
http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/20110418__Crowds__on_campus.html?id=120049229
November 26th, 2011 at 2:20 pm
If form held, the Raider fans cheered against the Puns!
November 26th, 2011 at 2:54 pm
Al - dumb question. Always cheer AGAINST Punyhou
November 26th, 2011 at 3:01 pm
Congrats LA Tech makes me feel a little better we beat the Wac Champs
But seriously i love thier young QB an Utah St to I hope to be seeing them in the future maybe in a better playing field. Good Job but anyways congrats to Iolani an Kahuku I hope luck will be on our Warriors side tonight. REMEMBER people UNLV, San Jose were all supposed to be EASY wins!
November 26th, 2011 at 3:19 pm
Miserable day for a game, but I'll be there to cheer our young men.

November 26th, 2011 at 4:05 pm
I think Sonny Dykes will be coach of the year.
November 26th, 2011 at 4:14 pm
Dykes certainly deserves it.
November 26th, 2011 at 4:23 pm
Sort of skeptical whether the WAC would have four bowl eligible teams this year. There's still that possibility, but the Warriors game against BYU will be a nail biter.
November 26th, 2011 at 4:39 pm
Different look for the Warriors tonight.
They're going with white pants.
November 26th, 2011 at 4:45 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 6:06 pm
Thanks, finally got the stream. Guess it was delayed for a bit.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:08 pm
Smart kicking game for Tulane...
November 26th, 2011 at 6:08 pm
Interesting punts by Tulane.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:09 pm
By the way, that was Sellers on the previous blitz, not Estes.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:13 pm
That was Ostrowski's sixth drop of the season. UH has three drops this game.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:17 pm
Tulane fans look to travel relatively well. I'm surprised to see a good sized following.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:18 pm
What a catch by Stutz!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:18 pm
That was amazing!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:19 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 6:30 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 6:34 pm
Nice and chilly up here. If you're looking for good ventilation with a not too icy cool breeze, you're missing out
November 26th, 2011 at 6:34 pm
I say he's out of bounds!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:35 pm

DEFENSE!!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:39 pm
Gives me yet annodah reason to hate the refs
November 26th, 2011 at 6:39 pm
Hmmm . . .
November 26th, 2011 at 6:40 pm
Wonder if the Warriors will win by 40.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:41 pm
should've been overturned, but too bad
the receiver shouldn't have been that wide open to begin with. the defense is playing too soft.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:41 pm
I hope the Warriors have more fans than last nights high school games.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:42 pm
talk about walking right in to the endzone
November 26th, 2011 at 6:42 pm
Here we go!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:43 pm

Give Ostrowski some stick um.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:43 pm
Love it!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:44 pm
There we go! 49 yards at a time works!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:44 pm
Kekaula guys were talking baout the punts not being returnable. No need, the punts so short the other team just needs to catch and not fumble. Field position is in their favor, not ours.
Our defense is just not that good. How can we let yet another loosing team stay with us? This is nuts!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:45 pm
kekaula needs to stop saying . . . "David Graves got hit hard" he's overreacting.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:46 pm
where was miahs stick um on that play
November 26th, 2011 at 6:46 pm
1st down!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:47 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 6:52 pm
Shoot out for sure!
November 26th, 2011 at 6:54 pm
Missed FG, I'll take it.
November 26th, 2011 at 6:54 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 7:17 pm
That dude is amazing!
November 26th, 2011 at 7:23 pm
So good so far. Defense needs to shut 'em down. If they do, we win.
Graves looks good except for the ints. Stutz and Miah gotta catch the ball. Miah looks less than 100%.
November 26th, 2011 at 7:26 pm
Miah has bruised ribs from 1st Q
November 26th, 2011 at 7:26 pm
Who else HATES the Heineken commercial? That dude is annoying!
November 26th, 2011 at 7:27 pm
Graves definitely brings a different vibe to the game.
November 26th, 2011 at 7:29 pm
Graves brings some heartstopping excitement to this game. Other than the picks, he is doing well. Warriors need to put this game away!
November 26th, 2011 at 7:30 pm
I did my job: "Block that kick!" cheer at the tv. Missing my seat in the N end zone.
November 26th, 2011 at 7:32 pm

Nice tackle by DL
November 26th, 2011 at 7:38 pm
Defense giving up big plays, but stopping when needed.
Hurry up looks much better. Flows more.
Special Teams gives up a long return, then turns around with a blocked FG.
Nice hit by GDL...
Let's see how 2nd half goes.
Let's go, Warriors!!!
November 26th, 2011 at 7:39 pm
Good D. Way to stay home.
November 26th, 2011 at 7:40 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 7:52 pm

November 26th, 2011 at 7:56 pm
Yes, pass interference...
November 26th, 2011 at 7:56 pm
again I'm wrong
November 26th, 2011 at 7:56 pm
UH should show Tulane how to run the halfback pass and let Iosefa throw one. Only difference is Iosefa used to be a QB and has an arm.
November 26th, 2011 at 7:57 pm
Ok defensive holding!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:00 pm
Matt:
UH had a play in which Iosefa would throw to Moniz.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:04 pm
Those guys from Tulane must have grease on them because we cannot seem to wrap up.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:06 pm
Interesting ply callin by Tulane lol
November 26th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Send JHT in for the block on the punt.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Nice defensive series!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
I'm not That surprised Tulane is such a bad team this year.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:08 pm
We need to score now and kill Tulane's desire to fight.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
UH should put two returners out there from now on. One short and one at normal distance.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:12 pm
Wside,
Tulane is shooting themselves just fine. I'll take those continued passes to the outside behind the los. Hahaha
November 26th, 2011 at 8:14 pm
nice pick Tank!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:14 pm
Throwing into double coverage. Tulane we love u!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:14 pm
Tank Hopkins is da man!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:15 pm
Oh no!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:17 pm
What is going on here? Warriors starting to fall apart.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:17 pm
Gotta buckle down, people. Things getting ugly.
Let's go, Warriors!!!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:18 pm
Defense gotta keep playing tough.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:19 pm
why the qb switch?
November 26th, 2011 at 8:21 pm
That was just a bad series of plays. Iosefa is having a tough time holding on to the ball. and why do the directional kick thing? The punts have great hang time but really...38 yards per punt?
Starting to look like those 2nd half blow ups we've been experiencing. Let's hope it does not continue.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:21 pm
Nice defensive stop!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:23 pm
Defensive Defensive!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:24 pm
OK Tulane. Call the interception play during this T.O.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:25 pm
Have not stopped them yet on this drive.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:26 pm
Turnstile: 21,542
Distributed: 27,411
November 26th, 2011 at 8:30 pm
Mack looks worried, as he should. It's just not clicking on special teams, defense and offense = 7 points and lots of time on the clock. UH needs to score on this series.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
Greenwood at game. She said she has not seen UH win this year.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
I would very much like to see this game over with a W!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
Possible concussion for Graves.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:32 pm
ST #294:
Turnstile count is about 3,000 worse than last week's game against Fresno. Wonder how ticket sales for the BYU game are going.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:32 pm
That turnstile must include the players, coaches, trainers, concession folks, medical folks, media, security, janitors, roaches, rats, etc. Sure doesn't look like that many people in the stands.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:32 pm
turnstyle 21,542 ?
my guess is that 10771 customers entered, exited and entered again
November 26th, 2011 at 8:33 pm
I hope Greenwood gets an answer to our collective prayer!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:35 pm
Come on offense. Punch it in.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:36 pm
thanks for the update ST . . . the guys on tv have no idea
November 26th, 2011 at 8:37 pm
Austin throws a nice ball and he's so calm. He gets smoke by a blindside blitz and then calmly throws a completed pass.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:39 pm
TD! UH!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:39 pm
Nice pitch by Austin while taking a big hit.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:40 pm
A Beeeeeg Tsai of relief! Nice play!
Whew!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:40 pm
Iosefa seems to be getting better. The guy will be a beast when he's a junior.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:47 pm
Make the spread!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:49 pm
How did Coach Dana's team do
November 26th, 2011 at 8:50 pm
Woohoo a win!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:53 pm
If BYU is as bad as Tulane, we going bowling.
November 26th, 2011 at 8:56 pm
Gratz, Warriors!!!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:57 pm
A nice win! Now on to BYU! Cheehoo! The stadium will be filled!
November 26th, 2011 at 8:58 pm
#313 Unfortunately BYU is not as bad. There simply cannot be any lapses in any of the phases or it'll be a loss.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:02 pm
With the possibility of Graves out, who's next on the pecking order
November 26th, 2011 at 9:02 pm
After Austinl
November 26th, 2011 at 9:03 pm
with the oline playing like they have been, you need Graves mobility
November 26th, 2011 at 9:04 pm
my guess: Austin, then Shutter.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:05 pm
how can they say erratic play led to Graves benching? There was no erratic play. There were a couple of stalled drives, but I wouldn't call it erratic.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:06 pm
I guess we just need to wait and hear it from the coach as to why they pulled Graves. The TV and radio are contradicting themselves.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:06 pm
Once again... flashes of brilliance coupled with flashes of huh???
We gotta develop that killer instinct. It's been lacking all season. We keep allowing opponents to rally. We gotta kill their desire to fight.
I like the promise shown by our youngsters. Graves looked pissed for being yanked. Just gotta keep at it. Game experience can only help for your future!
Prepare well for BYU, Warriors!
November 26th, 2011 at 9:07 pm
Looks like the Wahine BB team lost again. Is coach's job in jeopardy? Nice person, but got to produce. recruiting must be tough sledding.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:09 pm
Graves is injured.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:09 pm
What? SJSU beat Fresno, eh? ...
heh heh...
Now if only Idaho can beat Nevada... and NMSU can beat Utah State...
Then UH would be tied for 2nd place.. LOL
November 26th, 2011 at 9:11 pm
2 TD ... 2 Interceptions.. QB efficiency of 119... got to improve his completion ratio and cut down of those interception... Hopefully he'll be alright for next week.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:13 pm
Was good to see the team fight back and score after the chaos of the safety and out-of-bounds free kick.
Weird... the one team I was worried about preseason, LaTech, we beat. And yet, they end up WAC Champs.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:13 pm
#326 Just imagine if we did what was predicted? We would not at this point be speculating about 2nd or 3rd place. Well it's in the past now.
November 26th, 2011 at 9:14 pm
Anyways, 2:30 am. Time to crash.
Enjoy your night, everyone!
November 26th, 2011 at 9:15 pm
Gratz again, Warriors!!!
November 26th, 2011 at 9:36 pm
Bravo Warriors!

Did BYU play this week? If not, another team with a bye before playing us. How many is that this season anyway?
November 26th, 2011 at 10:01 pm
Down to three QB's.
I just realized that with Graves injured (concuss ?), we are down to:
Shane Austin, Cayman Shutter, and Kevin Spain.
Never thought this could happen.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:02 pm
Yup. Found out BYU did have a bye this week after smashing New Mexico State last week. I guess if you gotta play Hawaii, make sure you have the previous week off to prepare.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:16 pm
Graves had a concussion. I doubt he plays next week. Mack said he was saying things that didn't make sense on the side line. going be a tough game aganist byu.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:19 pm
I predicted scores all year was wrong so I picked the opponent, trying to break the jinx that I am creating. This week I deliberately didn't make a predicition and the Warriors won. Anything for a win.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:34 pm
Graves with a concussion is not a good thing... Austin, though was steady tonight... 8 or 9? 90 yards? or something close. Is Spain completely healed? Shutter and Spain, which one can scramble?
November 26th, 2011 at 10:41 pm
God Bless!
Fast Healing to our Warriors!
November 26th, 2011 at 10:47 pm
i confess...i ran through the turnstile. it must have spun at least 2001 times.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:48 pm
Man it was cold tonight.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:51 pm
Many years ago they had a Bottom Ten of Football Teams opposite the Top Ten and they also had what is known as the "crummy game of the week."
Hawaii and Tulane deservedly belong in the Bottom Ten and this game between UH & Tulane would definitely have been designated the crummy game of the week.
Both teams were pathetic in displaying how erratic and crummy they were and even though Hawaii won...it was a comedy of errors on both team.
Goodbye Mack and the rest of the UH coaches and thankfully, we can bring in Div. 1 coaches and not apprentices as Head Coach and coordinators.
Cheers!
November 26th, 2011 at 10:52 pm
duffer...coach dana eh? sounds like you are on a first name basis relationship.
anyway, her team lost 60-43.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:53 pm
old diver...not to mention wet.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:54 pm
well, we had to out score tulane to win and we did.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:55 pm
iosefa is getting better with each game.
however, he really needs to learn to take care of the rock.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:56 pm
Has the StarAdvertiser turned into the Gold Sheet? Why would they mention the Warriors didn't make the spread. Who cares, they won. Doesn't the StarAdvertiser staff realize half the teams every week don't cover the spread?
November 26th, 2011 at 10:56 pm
billy ray's confidence level is rising with each down. he looks like a really good one out there.
hopefully he can gain 15-20 lbs in the next two years.
November 26th, 2011 at 10:58 pm
miah needs to focus on the ball better. he seems too anxious to make a big play. he really should stick to football. he, too, could be a really good one.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:01 pm
old diver...look for the subliminal message.
that would indicate that a certain player who has been viciously implicated by some of the public for dabbling into final score results alterations, perhaps is not the one or that this matter of an anonymous letter is also bogus.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:05 pm
My cousin attended the Stanford, California game last week. He said it started to rain the minute they sat down and never stopped. They were frozen stiff. On a side note, he said Stanford designed their stadium renovation when they weren't doing well and down sized it from something like eighty thousand to about fifty thousand.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:09 pm
i like what i saw from young david graves tonight.
he has that big play ability.
he has that two dimensional capability that we saw from moniz earlier.
his scrambling abilities are very evident of a young fran tarkenton.
still much work to do. it will help with more reps.
needs to work on his decision making, but, that will develop in time.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:11 pm
old diver...that's why i never condone a new stadium built for 30-35k in hawaii,
November 26th, 2011 at 11:15 pm
oline had a rough time out there again tonight.
graves was running most of the night or forced in to a hurried decision.
so did austin.
whereas their counter part ryan griffin was knocked once or twice.
i am beginning to wonder if its our young oline or perhaps they need a change in teaching methods? this unit has not improved over the course of the year.
and has not been a strong suit in the past few years.
what is it?
November 26th, 2011 at 11:23 pm
We knew since 2008 that the Oline was going to be our sore spot... and while recruiting efforts were made, the recruits either didn't pan out admission wise or went elsewhere. We got a good group of underclassmen who should be ready to play next season, but nothing to shore up the lines this season.
Is it too difficult for us to recruit good linemen on the Offensive side of the ball for the RnS?
November 26th, 2011 at 11:24 pm
Next man up. No excuses. Biggest game of the season coming up.
Austin is capable so is Sutter. I know Rolo and Mouse will come up with a game plan that gives Austin the best chance to succeed.
They kept it pretty simple for Graves, didn't call too many plays where he had a lot of reading to do. Called a lot of wideout screens or one primary receiver plays. Took advantage of his athleticism.

All we need to know.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:30 pm
In fact, we haven't have a solid Oline since 2006, really.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:31 pm
If David Graves was speaking non-sense, I hope they take a good hard examination on his concussion.
It's one thing to see stars and get your bell rung, another thing to have scrambled verbal communication.

Lead sentence on tonights game from the StarAdvertiser.
"The University of Hawaii kept alive its faint hopes for a postseason bid Saturday night with a 35-23 nonconference football win over hapless Tulane."
I guess it's been decided by the StarAdvertiser staff that the Warrior's chances of winning next week are faint. Sounds like locker room material.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:38 pm
We won... that's what counts... another game next week... hope our warriors heal, stay healthy and come together as as single unit next week.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:38 pm
g'night all!
November 26th, 2011 at 11:42 pm
If UH goes five wide, then it was smart for Tulane to blitz.
November 26th, 2011 at 11:54 pm
#357. Thought the O line did okay. They have shown improvement since Mo went down. They're a more stable bunch with the same lineup for a couple of games.
I'll concede at this point of the season the Oline is probably the least talent group aside from our place kickers. Part of this is due to injuries and partly due to the numbers recruited.
Our O lines have always been the most prideful, close knit player group. Always had the highest participation rate in off season workouts. They'll get the job done against BYU/

Healing energy to the banged up Warriors.
GO WARRIORS!!!
Good night!
November 27th, 2011 at 1:00 am
let's own up to the fact that since 2007 we have not had any improvement in our oline's play.
it's not the players. it's the way the techniques are being taught or rather not being taught. it is one of the parts that is broken and this staff has not been able to fix.
November 27th, 2011 at 1:06 am
quote of the day...
On the importance of next week’s game…
" We said that we’re writing a three-chapter book and today was the first chapter and everybody contributing to writing to it in this first chapter, and now we have the second chapter, and we have to get that done before we work on the fourth chapter.."

One would assume that some stability in the offensive line coaching position for UH would have come with Gordy Shaw.
From the job bouncing from Wes Suan to Dennis McKnight to Brian Smith and then to Gordy Shaw one would have thought that Shaw's time with a program like Minnesota in the Big Ten would have yielded the improvement UH was looking for.
It seems like the offensive line and special teams are two areas of the game that UH football has lagged in for a while.
November 27th, 2011 at 1:19 am
Let's focus on the Wahine volleyball team - the ESPN announcement will be made today (Sunday) at 1 pm our time.
Re concussions - bells being rung are no longer something funny or ignorable.
Nighty-night.

Mack blames the weather for the poor attendance and the UH A.D. blames the economy. WHO ARE THEY TRYING TO PUT A SPIN OR HAVE THEY HAD CONCUSSIONS WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT?? Put a decent, I mean a decent product out there, and people will come. When you have a "crummy game of the week" who are going to waste their time to watch a hapless team out there. Even though UH won, they looked pathetic. Special teams were awful, defensive players still can't tackle as they always seem to be groping or reaching out and catching air...oh, yes, they made a few stops but then again, this against Tulane...ha..ha..a bottom ten team...the offensive team with the lineman...geez...yes, I know about the injuries but give me a break...these are Mack's recruits...the receivers are probably the worse we ever had compared to Salas et co. last year and the glory yrs. of Davone Bess & CO. but the offense, and yes, injuries have hurt their consistency but even before then, geezez, the play calling...execution ...was just pathetic... Give me a break, Mack and Donovan. Weather and the economy has nothing to do with the poor attendance. Let me repeat this again. WEATHER & ECONOMY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE POOR ATTENDANCE. If that is your excuses for the poor attendance, then you need to look in the mirror with a straight face. GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Hello would you mind stating which blog platform you're using? I'm looking to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something completely unique. P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

Good morning all! A win is a much needed win and I'm savoring this one (regardless of the malcontents and haters), even though it wasn't easy.

It's sad that you can't go to the SA for stats of the game. I guess they know it's better to just go to ESPN.

GO WARRIORS
may the weather clear up and the economy go on an upswing so the seats will be filled.....at least according to the HC and the AD......we all KNOW that's the reason right??????????
November 27th, 2011 at 7:50 am
yeah of course. I would have gone to the game last night, but I can't get wet. Plus, the economy is so bad, I couldn't afford a rain poncho, let alone a ticket.
It is sad that the AD and HC refuse to acknowledge the dissatisfaction with the product. Personally, I believe in supporting the team regardless of wins or losses, but the reality is that many don't. They need to recognize that and do something about it.
There has been ZERO push to try and get more fans in the stadium in the form of advertisement, offers, etc.
UH needs to televise the big UH-BYU games of the past this week to get people fired up for the game. Play some damn commercials to show people that this game has history.
Lastly, if they truly believe the economy and weather is the problem, distribute ponchos and rebates at the gate.
November 27th, 2011 at 7:55 am
What's interesting, I think the UC Davis game had a better turnout and thats an FCS team that doesn't usually draw alot of interest.
November 27th, 2011 at 7:55 am
I saw a good young QB last night. I saw a lot of young talent. I saw a kind of excitement not seen in a Warrior game for some time. I saw a win. I'm happy!!!

Pomai~I got really close for this week's pic. Let's hana hou that pick.
34 UH

About attendance, it's not about "the product". It's about supporting our student athletes who represent US. Stop whining and complaining and put your money where your mouth is, put your butts in the seats. It's senior night, be there or (be quiet).
Aloha
November 27th, 2011 at 8:03 am
I like what I saw out of Graves too. Needs to improve some of his decision making, but that comes with experience. I have the inclination that the coaches may not think he necessarily fit what they want to do.
I think you take what he can give you. He may not be the pure pocket passer, but I don't think we have one of those on the roster. Well maybe Spain, but still. The guy has fire.
November 27th, 2011 at 8:08 am
Wooooo hooooo, like how you say it, gmahoney! Thanks for reminding us it's Senior Night next week too. I am ready to bust out my "BEAT BYU" towel with the old-school RAINBOW logo. Oh yeah, baybee!
Someone asked me last night, "If you weren't working here at the game, would you be here?" And I said HELL YEAH! I remember there were nights in the '80s and '90s when the weather was terrible and the stands were full!!! Let's go people!
