Norm Chow said he will fill the last vacancy on his staff — the director of football operations — by mid-March.

Chow said Olivia Vea will be a graduate assistant working under newly hired video coordinator Dory Kong. Inoke Funaki is the other GA.

UH had hoped to hire Bobby Gray, a long-time high school coach, as a graduate assistant. But a new NCAA rule restricts a GA to a seven-year period after earning a bachelor's degree. Gray earned his degree outside of that window.

Chow said he will hire the other two GAs this summer.

Chow said the Warriors will open spring training on March 21. The original plan was to start March 17. But the NCAA has a 35-day window for spring training, necessitating the delay. The Warriors will practice March 21, 22 and 23, then take a week off for spring break. They will resume with practices Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The weekday practices begin at 4:10 p.m.; the Saturday practices start at 10:40 a.m.
