Regaining his Mo-jo

After training the past few weeks in Boca Raton, Fla., former UH quarterback Bryant Moniz departs today for California ahead of Monday's UH pro day. Moniz should feel comfortable in California. He spent a year at Fresno City College before enrolling at UH, and his daughter's name is Cali.

In Florida, Moniz's workouts were divided between football drills and cardio exercises. He said he weighs 210, a 5-pound gain since his last game in November. He said his surgically repaired right ankle is fine.

Former NFL quarterback Chad Pennington has served as Moniz's tutor during passing drills.

Interesting note: Moniz's CFL rights are held by the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, who recently signed former Warrior QB Colt Brennan.

Former UH offensive lineman Matagisila Lefiti has decided not to participate in pro day.
