The Warrior Beat

Home stretch

January 27th, 2013

The Warriors today complete the penultimate recruiting weekend before entering the home stretch. There were nine prospects in town this weekend.

Overall, the Warriors are awaiting decisions from about four prospects.

They recently received a commitment from linebacker Jamie Tago of American Samoa. Tago, who is 6 feet 3 and 205 pounds, will sign as a grayshirt and join the Warriors in January 2014.

There is a possibility that wide receiver Stacey Howard of San Bernardino Valley College might not project to meet the requirements in time to play for the Warriors in 2013. If it appears he will need more time, he probably will not sign a letter of intent on Feb. 6, the first day of the signing period.

The UH coaches depart this evening for home visits on the mainland. They will go to California, Utah and Florida.

One of the things the volleyball Warriors do best is put on good dinners.

There's a fund-raiser this Wednesday, with pretty unique silent-auction items. It's affordable, too — $50 a head. (That's $50 per seat. They're not actually auctioning heads, although that would be pretty unique.)

Here's the link: Volleyball fund-raiser.
