The Warrior Beat

Thursday's practice

April 18th, 2013

Today's spring practice:

• George Daily-Lyles today practiced for the first time this spring training, and he played well in his debut as a defensive end. He even had a sack.

• Fullback Marcus Langkilde continues to impress. Not only is he a ferocious blocker, he also is displaying skill as a receiver. Langkilde, who was raised on the mainland, is linebacker Art Laurel's cousin. In case anyone is wondering, Langkilde is Samoan and German ancestry.

• The Warriors' passing game is starting to click. They've been attacking mostly out of three-receiver sets. So far, the No. 1 group is Trevor Davis, Chris Gant and Scott Harding.

• Wideout Billy Ray Stutzmann has been bothered by a variety of ailments this spring. But he had his best workout today. He also caught a scoring pass.

• Leo Koloamatangi did not practice because of a bone bruise on his right ankle.

• Here was today's No. 1 offensive line: LT Mike Milovale, LG Kody Afusia, C Ben Clarke, RG Dave Lefotu, RT Sean Shigematsu.

• Here was today's No. 2 OL: LT David Griffin, LG Ben Dew, C Brenden Urban, RG Kiha Sai, RT Frank Loyd.

• Brenden Urban? He was Clarke's high school teammate in Colorado. He was at Adams State for a year before transferring. He redshirted at UH in 2012.
