The Warrior Beat

Price of spring football

April 30th, 2013

After 15 on-field sessions spread over five weeks, there wasn't much more to be said of the Warriors' spring training. So for the final team meeting of the spring, the podium was turned over to a guest speaker — Mike Price, former UTEP and Washington State head coach.

Price retired as UTEP's head coach in December. Price's son Aaron is the Warriors' offensive coordinator. Mike Price and Norm Chow have been friends for decades. They first met when Price was at Weber State and Chow was at BYU.

There is an open invitation for Price to serve as an occasional consultant to the UH coaching staff. He will have to check his schedule. Price reportedly joked he is a graduate assistant ... to his wife.

AD Ben Jay and Chow will be attending Mountain West Conference mandatory meetings in Phoenix, beginning tomorrow. Jay already is in Phoenix. Chow departs from Honolulu this afternoon.

Not sure where people fall in the Rainbow/Warrior debate. But I do know that we are giving away the Rainbows T-shirt pictured above. (It's new, but I'm not sure why it came out of the package wrinkled.)
