Seeing red

October 1st, 2013

In training camp, one of the treats was to watch defenses try to figure a way to tackle running back Penitito Faalologo, who appears to be shorter and heavier than his listed dimensions of 5-11 and 250 pounds. Recruited as a linebacker, he moved to defensive end and then to offense.

Faalologo was held out of the first four games. Yesterday, he said he will redshirt this season.

Barring unexpected circumstances, with a third of the season in the books, the other prominent redshirts are offensive lineman Dejon Allen, R.J. Hollis and John Wa‘a, wide receiver Ammon Barker, tight end John Long, defensive ends David Manoa and Meffy Koloamatangi, linebacker Drake Miller, cornerbacks Barry Higdon and Keenan Ewaliko, and kicker/punter Jackson Dionne.
