Away they go

November 1st, 2013
By

After a delay of more than 10 hours, the Rainbow Warriors departed LAX en route to Utah.

With the 2-hour flight, 1-hour bus ride and 1-hour time change, they are scheduled to arrive at the hotel in Logan at about 2 a.m. Saturday — 12 hours ahead of kickoff for the game against Utah State.

The Warriors were initially scheduled to depart LAX at noon on a charter flight. But the shootings at the airport forced a shutdown.

The Warriors were able to extend their stay at the hotel in Manhattan Beach.

The delay forced the Warriors to cancel the scheduled walk-through session at Utah State's Romney Stadium and abort plans to scout Utah high school football games. Instead, they had meeting and video reviews in the hotel's conference rooms. The defense had a walk-through session in the parking lot.

Because of financial constraints, the Warriors usually divide into two segments the travels for games east of the Pacific time zone. They practice Thursday morning on their campus, then depart that afternoon for Los Angeles, where they stay overnight. The next day, they take a charter flight.

The Warriors could not depart from a nearby airport because their equipment was stored at LAX. The team does not have the resources to pay for two planes — one carrying the passengers, the other carrying the equipment.

The first thing that came to my mind this morning watching the news about the shooting was how are the warriors. Good to see that they are just fine.

  2. gobows:

This kind of thing always happens to hawaii teams.

  3. d1shima:

Prayers to the affected parties in LA.

    Go Warriors!

  4. 3-Prong:

No worry, our team thrives on adversity! Go Bows!

  5. Wes'side Warrior:

    Uh oh...

  6. Wes'side Warrior:

Wait... what? We had a charter flight too?

    Erm.. I mean...

    Good morning, Gang!

Hope you all have a great November!

  7. Old School Dave:

I think UH had a similar situation on the road back during Wags time. Some kind of problem with their flight and the team arrived at their hotel after midnight the day before the game. I think they still won the next day.

ST: You going to eat at Mo Bettah Steaks (local food restaurant) in SLC? Heard that the L & L in SLC closed.

  8. Stephen Tsai:

UH has a charter flight between LAX and Ogden. It traveled by commercial flight from Honolulu to LAX.

  9. laulau head:

This season has been full of mishaps...

    Warrior for life!!

So true, Hawaii football and misques, mishaps, mistakes, mis-opportunites, mis-field goals, mis managed and just plain mis-up-season so far.

Chow said discussions are underway about postponing UH-Utah State game. #HawaiiFB

  12. Shoko:

Postponing to a later time tomorrow?

  13. WarriorMojo:

Proves -- yet again -- that Hawaii teams have to deal with more adversity and plain bull before they ever even step foot on the field/court, than ANY other school in the NCAA.

'Bama, Oregon, Notre Dame? NONE of them do what we do. Don't EVER question our teams' toughness and dedication.

  14. cocobean:

Another should have for the team.......

They should have flown non stop to SLC Wednesday night.

  15. BigWave96744:

    Reschedule for Dec 7th?
The only way Utah St makes the MWC game is they win out and Boise St loses to Colorado St, Wyoming, San Diego St or New Mexico.... And none of these teams have ever beaten the Broncos since going D1.

Boise already beat Utah St so they own the head to head tie breaker.

  16. Shoko:

San Diego State beat them last year on the blue turf.

  17. OC Warrior:

@14 Coco - it looks like there is only one direct flight and it is a red-eye. Not the best flight if you want to have a well-rested team.

  18. Shoko:

Well, the only thing I can think of is that they delay the start time a couple of hours. Not sure if it puts CBS Sports in a bind since they also have other games on the schedule.

  19. Shoko:

Anyway, ST tweeted that the Southwest charter flight is still in Phoenix, while the equipment is stored at LAX.

  20. whitey:

this kind of delay is very unfortunate not knowing when departure time just makes matters worse. still, best to the warriors.

  21. cocobean:

#17. Knew that. But get in Thurs. morn and rest up. Walk thru today.

  22. Hugh G. Rection:

Why did they have a lay over at LAX? Why was there no direct flights to Salt Lake City or Ogden?

  23. PolyMom:

I just got back from the hotel and the boys and Coaches are in good spirits. Yes they have a charter. We had lunch, with our boy and friends. We met many of the players. Talked with Coach Chow and his lovely wife. They will be leaving later today. They are doing fine and in fact, many team members are enjoying visits from friends and family who have come to the hotel.

Boys have been able to stay in their rooms. The hotel has been so good to our team. Many players came up to thank me for the kind words I sent them. Many you should send an email of support to them too!

And to you who think Chow needs to go...let me say this. The players LOVE him. Every promise he has made to the players he has kept his word. They stand behind him 100 percent. I got a very good explanation on why the team is not 100 percent. I am very satisfied and now stand behind Chow 200 percent. If Chow was to leave, many of our players would leave also. That is how confident they are in him.

They will make it out sometime.

  24. A-joe:

    Lunch!!

  25. d1shima:

    whitey!

    Bad news....

No mo Chocolate mochi for the next 2 weeks!

  26. cocobean:

#22. There are nonstop flts LAX/SLC but airlines will not book a group of 100 on those flights.

  27. manoa#1:

You right cocobean but chow gotta go see his mommy in LA. Remember Chow is a LA boy he is not Local.!! das Y haaarrd live mainland long time and forget the Local Style.!!

  28. PolyMom:

My hub said can't move the charter to another airport as commercial flights have priority. And flight plans for approval take a minimum of three hours. Many flights being diverted to Ontario! Long Beach and Burbank. Traffic is at a gridlock. All access to airport is closed. Folks are getting out of taxi's and walking miles to get to LAX.

  29. PolyMom:

#27... Really? You can take us out of Hawaii. But Hawaii is always in our hearts. You can't change who we are or our legacy.

You want us to stay in Hawaii and have no good work. We move here to better ourselves.

  30. UHfan808:

Good morning on this new post, Tsai-kos and Lurk-ers! ^_^

Happy Friday! We're almost halfway to Saturday! Hehe

  31. Leron:

A tragedy occurs at LAX and people complain about how stupid the travel plans were. Like they knew people would get shot up and the airport put on lockdown. Seriously, we get the disdain for Chow, but there's some heartless people around here.

  32. d1shima:

Confusing situation is probably the best description of what's happening at LAX

    Just saw this on tweetah

  33. cocobean:

#27. I wasn't being critical of the travel plans. Just another example of things not going right for whatever reason.

Bet if you ask Chow he'd tell you the stopover was for the Cali kid and their families.

  34. UHfan808:

    Aiyahs..

  35. primo123:

Can they just play flag football instead? No need equipment

  36. LizKauai (mbp):

    GO, RAINBOW WARRIORS!!!

  37. primo123:

We should get rid of Apple right now while this is all going on. Blame him!

  38. OC Warrior:

#33 - That is a pretty good reason as we have a lot of CA players. Plus, I bet they saved money with the stopover because the direct flight is the most expensive by far. I have lived in Southern California for over 20 years and they don't close down LAX very often. If I recall correctly, maybe 4-5 times since I have been here and one of those times was for the riots.

  39. PolyMom:

Stop over was for charter flight. Geez give them a break! If you took any flight you would have to make it a red eye. Red eye flights are hard on the body. Do you ever travel?

  40. jimmy the lock:

So I see this post-Halloween demon in jail and asked what was his crime, he says, "possession".

  41. OC Warrior:

#39 - Glad you got to see the team, it is good to know they are good spirits.

  42. cocobean:

#38. No the way they did it was the more expensive way. One way fare to LAX then charter LAX/OGD is more expensive than HNL/SLC. But as you said eariler may be the more restful way.

  43. OC Warrior:

#42 - Good point. But yes, the red-eye is not the way to travel. I have flown a few and I can sleep anywhere but still could not get any decent sleep on that flight and I am not nearly as big as those athletes. It would really have wiped them out.

  44. WarriorMojo:

Which hotel is it? I usually stay near LAX, but Manhattan Beach isn't that far. This hotel should get some pub.

  45. WarriorNY:

If you had a problem with us stopping in LA, why didn't you bring it up the many other times we stopped in LA?

  46. primo123:

iF they fly and get in by 2am, should be plenty enough time to make it to a 2pm game eh?

if they do that....I'm giving the -24 points..........lol..........

  47. cocobean:

#43. When the travel group to UT is a 100 you have just a few options. You can't take connecting flights via the west coast because the airlines do not accept that large a group given the size of the planes that fly that route. You would have to charter from the WC.

The other options besides flying non stop on the red eye would have been to split the group and take connecting days flights or to charter HNL/SLC during the day.

  48. Shoko:

Pretty sure I heard that the conference requires teams to fly charter. In Hawaii's case, they are allowed to fly commercial, but for any continental US flights they have to make arrangements to fly charter.

  49. madeinhawaii:

Feel bad for the players. Just going to make it that much harder on them.

  50. madeinhawaii:

Feel worse for the agent that got killed.

  51. SteveM:

    Good morning everyone!

Since we do not have our own charter flights to/from HNL to whatever destination, going through LAX is very common. The reason, I think, is that LAX is one of the largest airports in the world. If you are large, that means that many airlines and flights go there.

Many airlines and flights = more competition.
More competition usually means lower fares.

So, most available flights plus lower (or negotiable) fares means checking out LAX if you are concerned about flight schedule and cost.

  52. PolyMom:

Boys did not get to hotel until 10:30 last night. Curfew is 11:00. Parents not allowed. They stop here to rest up and was going to catch their charter at 12 noon. But things happened. LAX will be shut down for many hours.

GAWD...you folks need detailed explanations to everything. Just accept things. If you want belly up and get them a direct daytime flight out of your pocket. Got an extra $125,000 bucks for the Honolulu to Ogden flight?

  53. PolyMom:

    #45 I CONCUR!

  54. PolyMom:

Boys ate in good shape and good spirits. My husband is there with them.

  55. Jack Flash:

    PolyMom,
I sent an email the other day to the team showing my support, and was pleasantly surprised when someone on the staff replied to thank me!
My personal feeling is Coach Chow should stay as our head coach, but he needs to hire a competant and innovative offensive coordinator. Someone he can trust to run the offense. I remain hopeful as always...

  56. cocobean:

    wishful thinking......

Facing this adversity is the jolt that gets the team going. Shared misfortune tightens the bonds of a group. I know the players are not feeling sorry for themselves. They'll be focused and ready to play no matter if they arrive at the stadium an hour before kick.

Beside didn't Nietzsche say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

  57. primo123:

did Chow have any understudy that knows his offense or philosophy?

  58. Jack Flash:

    Cocobean,
I think Kelly Clarkson said that. Bwahaha!

  59. Rodney:

Vowed never to return to this blog, because of
all the negativity and opinions, but wanted to
Know about the awful tragedy and how team
is doing.Thank you Poly mom for info.Bless you!
As for the rest of negative bloggers You guys
really need grow up.."make ass"Someone got
    killed!!Thats someone father,brother or husband.
Props to coach Chow players 100% behind him.
Only a good coach can get that from a winless team.
He gets the boys to give 100% Love the team !
    Imua warriors!!!

  60. Balko:

Having played college football, I can assure you that the team is not 100% behind Chow. Too many personalities, wants, needs, views to be true. People say what they think people want to hear (especially to the parent of another player who clearly wants to believe in the program). I'm sure there are a few players who will stick it out no matter how bad it is, but that is more likely a by-product of Stockholm syndrome than reality (Or they can't admit they made a mistake in believing in UH recruiters).

I wish the team well, but let's not delude ourselves, current players know the situation, and future recruits see the record this year and last (not to mention the poor coaching displayed week in and week out).

  61. wasabi:

    61- BS Rodney.....BS
    Everybody knows it isn't true....

  62. wasabi:

50- yes what a tragedy. Leave it to Rodney to try to turn it into an attempt to shine the light on Chow....

  63. gobows:

    #42

what kind of rip-off deal did hal give the team for the hnl-lax leg? like to know how you are getting the cost figures.

  64. Balko:

At this point in the season (and for those players who endured last year's season), its time to put on their big boy pants and out play the coaches incompetence: not believe in unicorns and fairy dust.

  65. Warrior Dave:

    #57,

Chow's understudies Re the two grad assistants he coached at Utah.

Everyone!! Going to say this one more time, Chow can hire Baylor's OC but that wouldn't mean Chow would let him call his offense. At least JJ made it very clear that no matter who he hired, including Mouse Davis, JJ was going to call all offensive plays.

  66. Warrior Dave:

Breaking News says Utah St expects the game to be played as scheduled. UH may arrive at 2:00AM to play at 2:00pm. Maybe UH should try and have the charter arrive at 10:00AM and go straight to the game?

oesn't seem fair USU but paybacks a bitch! Our time will come and pay you back for your lack of understanding.

  67. primo123:

    Chow's only been a coordinator for 40 years..........and a head coach for 1.

ya think he's learned anything or everything?

  68. Kapahulu:

    Papajoe2:
My wife and I also went to the UH Men's Basketball Game last night. I wish I knew that you were there, we would have come by to say hi.
The new guards on the team seem to be quality players. It seems like they will be able to run and score. Lots of weapons. Aaron Valdez can jump. I reallly like newcomer guards Shamburger, Nevel and Quincy Smith. If they can work on their defense and get the steals, we should see some breakaway slam dunks. Should be exciting.
The key is to keep everyone healthy. We got there right after the tipoff and didn't realize that Spearman was already injured. Hope he comes back soon.
The Post area seems to lack depth. We need Standhardinger and Fotu to play most of the game. I hope they are in shape for the long haul.
Bottom line, looks like this could be a fun team. I hope the fans will come out and show their support. I'll be there!

  69. NotNasti:

    66. Warrior Dave: the game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Mountain time. Tape up on the plane?

  70. Kevin:

    FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!

  71. cocobean:

#63. Just now ckd with a friend who works at DL. She said the current one way fare on the non stop is about $1034.00 as opposed to $711.00 for a round trip ticket. The fare is about $460.00 changing planes in LAX adding up the HNL/LAX and LAX/SLC fares.

These are fares as of today. She said fares are constantly changing that the HNL/SLC one way fare has gone on sale several times ranging between $290.00 - 600.00.

I estimated the SW charter to be around $35000.00 one way which is what they quoted me for a Burbank/Reno charter two years ago. Assuming they flew HAL to LAX I guessed the fare to be around $325.00.

  72. Warrior Dave:

#69, land at 10:00 gives them 4 hours before kickoff. If need more time, tape up at the airport or plane.

  73. Whats up:

    66. Thats messed up but it's ok, Utah is loaded with starting Seniors this season as starters. So next time they play Hawaii they are going to get blown out by the Warriors at Aloha Stadium.

  74. Candy:

On to Ogden with more cohesion during adversity. Good luck and play well. Go Warriors!!

  75. NotNasti:

Hawaii is 5 - 2 against USU since 2005. We used to bash them at will. What's happened? Maybe they are still smarting at the way we used to beat them. Huge margins of victory.

    2005 (win): 50 - 23
    2006 (win): 63 - 10
    2007 (win): 52 - 37
    2008 (loss): 14 - 30
    2009 (win): 40 - 36
    2010 (win): 45 - 7
    2011 (loss): 31 - 35

  76. cocobean:

#68. Kapahulu. Looks like Gib is building his team to match the style of play in the BWC. Any of the three Gs you mentioned would've started at PG for us last year. Depth in the post IS the biggest concern. I can forsee situations where Gib might be forced to play four Gs (the 3 that you mentioned plus Spearman playing PF) and one big guy.

  77. wasabi:

42- also that manhattan beach hotel is Not Cheap!
Makes more sense to book straight to Utah....doesn't HAL work with UH at all?

  78. jimmy the lock:

Amazing how the topic of Chow and flights can be so intertwined.

Maybe discuss strength training and game management next week?

    Carry on.

  79. d1shima:

    Geez! WTH?

Are you harping on the flight arrangements so UHAD can be better prepared for the next time it flies into a random shooting at a destination airport?

    Nuff already!

Which way you load the toilet paper? Over? Under?

...seems like we get plenny experts on that decision posting here this season as well!

    Discuss....

  80. Balko:

As a semi-relevant aside, remember Norm Chow "lives" in Manhattan Beach (as he has said on several occasions this year).

  81. jimmy the lock:

I do the over. Family tradition.

  82. WarriorMojo:

ST, not sure if this was intended or not, but today's blog title reminded me of the great Jimmy Cliff song:

    Sitting here in limbo
But I know it won't be long
    Sitting here in limbo
Like a bird without a song

    Well, they're
    Putting up resistance
But I know that my faith
    Will lead me on

    Sitting here in limbo
Waiting for the dice to roll
    Sitting here in limbo
Got some time to search my soul

    Well, they're
    Putting up resistance
But I know that my faith
    Will lead me on

  85. jimmy the lock:

WarriorMojo, the John Cruz version just popped into my head...

  86. WarriorMojo:

Any Tsaikos going to Sunday's body UH Wahine soccer season finale?

Congratulations to Coach Nagamine and the team. There were a few disappointments along the way, but I think this season was successful overall.

They'll need to replace Look, Miyake and Fresquez on defense, but they should definitely be in for a tournament berth next season, I think.

  87. WarriorMojo:

LOL, that sentence started out as "Anybody going to go..." and was then changed to "Any Tsaikos going to go...", but the "body" was left floating....

  88. Whats up:

Right now the MVP of the Hawaii Football team is Scott Harding, hands down. Harding punts are incredible left foot, right foot... the other team have a hard time returning his punts. Scott returns punts and WR securely with the ball and is on the field a lot! Gant is having a great year so far but the only players that is playing at a high level on special teams and offense is Scott Harding. Where are the LB's and RB's? They have disappeared as the season progresses. I know the O Line play is suspect and the QB play is a work in progress, but the LB and RB position is not looking good, lately. Hawaii can win some games if they can just clean it up an stop the miscues!

  89. primo123:

Blame the Apple for the travel arrangments!

  90. gobows:

    #71

hal is a corporate sponsor, maybe they give hawaii a better deal. why would they fly 1 way to lax? aren't they coming home after the navy game?

  91. bobora:

blame the wasabi for not making the travel arrangements - he know erryting.

  92. fshnpoi:

#29, Polymom..are you saying by staying in hawai'i one will not be able to get a good job or better themselves?

  93. oneseason:

Woops. UH Rush Attempts versus Pass Attempts for the first 7 games are not as bad as when I used the wrong numbers (posted yesterday #41).

2.45 yards per rush attempt (527 net yards total) versus 6.53 yards/pass attempt (2095 net yards total), with about 40% of offensive plays being rush attempts.

It still looks like one cheer should be "Let's throw Bows!"

    ..............Yd/rush..rush att....rush yrd...Yrds/pass....pass att....pass yrd
    UH total...2.45......215..........527..........6.53...........321.........2095

  94. d1shima:

  95. Warrior Dave:

    #93,

I think what Polymom MEANT was in her instance, they chose to move away for an better opportunity to better their lives and for that of her family. Nothing wrong with that IMHO. I moved away for a few years as it was the best opportunity for me at that time.

  96. WarriorNY:

I agree with Polymom... and I want to thank her for her updates on the team....

I had to leave the islands but the islands are always in my heart... And almost everyone I know that grew up in Hawaii and left still have a special place for Hawaii... To say anything else is really disrespectful to all of us who have made the tough decision to leave...

SteveM and anyone else attending the Navy game, I am trying to work out going to the Navy game but right now but I'm not sure if my work will allow me to... I want to host/(cohost) a cattle call for everyone but I won't know if I'll be making it down to Annapolis till Monday or Tuesday of next week...

I apologize for being so last minute but I will let anyone know as soon as I can...

  97. wasabi:

Borabora ...I know it would be better to take a direct flight...then the team has a full day to get acclimatef. What's the point of travelling 2 days. Result is TIRED PLAYERS! All I am asking was whether or not it was an option or was the two flight and a busridestay in the coaches hometown (where his wife lives...) really a better deal?

  98. Not Sean:

FlightView is now showing an estimated depature time of 10:00 PM and a 12:25 arrival for SW LAX to OGD tonite.

  99. pu'uwai:

Good luck against USU. Imua Rainbow Warriors!!!

  100. d1shima:

Ok...who else was worried dat was video of the two teammates playing tic-tac-toe?

  101. papajoe2:

101~d1shima, maybe the video was so dey no cheat.
    Oh, under.
Toilet seat up or down? Do the ladies lift it up when they pau? Dey gotta look before sitting because what if get one snake in the toilet?

    Let's Go Bows!!!!!!

  105. NorthShoreFan:

Polymom, e-mailed the Warriors and got a great thank you message from staff assuring me that the team will get the mail. Thanks for the suggestion.

Lots of wise football, admin. type peeps here. Next year please make yourselves available to the football, basketball, baseball, volleyball and all the UH teams. If you can help then why not? Don't just keep the solutions to yourselves. Please share your expertise.

    (Aloha MJ,

Thank you so much for your kind words! We will definitely make sure the coaching staff and the rest of the team see your message. On behalf of all of us here at the UH football program, we appreciate your continued support! Loyal fans such as yourself are what keep us going.

  112. markazulu:

Congrats to Kaiser and Rich miano

  113. markazulu:

But seriously why is it kaiser has 1 good year they talk about moving them to the red division and iolani is still in the white division after dominating for what 10 years

  114. Former UH Athlete:

Such is life at a have-not university... Play hard, play smart Bows!

No chance to look over other matchups so no other plays this week other than I'm taking Hawaii (+24).

I think the odds makers are overreacting to Utah St's win last week vs an awful UNM team. USU's backup QB was completely ineffective vs Boise St, and last week didn't have to too much as USU ran the ball all over UNM. I think the line should be about 18-20 because the UsU QB is still an unknown player, so I'll take the 24 all day.

Hawaii just needs to load up vs the run and force the QB to win with his arm. USU is pretty good talent wise but they have struggled to out up points vs good defenses... However UH's defense has been anything but good.

  115. Former UH Athlete:

    94...

Don't forget that QB sack yardage counts against team rush yards in college... UH has given up a ton of sacks this year and last. To get a more accurate picture, you should look up the RB run stats only.

  116. Former UH Athlete:

75... It basically paints the recruiting picture and the direction of the two programs the past several years. One school's recruiting dropping off and the others really picked up.

The only aberration was 2010 when UH had a ton of seniors that played well that year and were co-champs. The trend continued in 2011 even with a senior QB (Moniz).

Will be interesting to see how USU fairs 3-4 years from now to see if they avoid the common drop off after a great coach leaves a mid-major program for a bigger job. At this point, Matt Wells is riding Gary Anderson's coat tails to a somewhat disappointing 4-4 this year. Injury to Keeton will hurt a lot.

SJSU is in a similar situation as USU. Lots of returning talent to carry on for a season or two, but things will get interesting once Fales is gone.

Nevada Reno has taken a good step back with Polian. They should be better with the offensive talent they returned from last year. The defense is horrendous. Just losing the Fremont Cannon to UNLV for the first time in a decade at home on homecoming will turn on the hot seat under Polian a little.

La Tech is not fairing well in its first year away from Sony Dykes, they are 3-5 in a weak conference.

  117. Old School Dave:

USU come behind victory over UH in 2011 was the turning point for the Aggies program.

  118. PolyMom:

Thanks Warrior NY. Yes I moved to Cali so I could afford to support my mom. I own real estate in Hawaii now. Would never have been able to afford to buy anything on my own working in the islands. And I met and married a wonderful man and we have a blended family. It's a great thing. I've gone from Intern, to Script Supervisor, to Associate Producer to Producer. When I graduated from college from UCSD and came home...who could live on 450 bucks a month? Keep paying high rent to make the rich richer? I believe and have accomplished the American dream. I encourage all kids who grow up in Hawaii to expand their territories and explore their opportunities. Home will always be there. You can always go home. But life is about finding your passion. Not just punching the clock and hating your job like so many of my friends back home.

For the poster who said the boys hate Coach Chow...tell me who hates him? Name names. You were a Former Athlete. Are you still on the team? Did you not qualify? What's your story?

I'm proud how calm and cool the boys were. Families were just lucky to have those few hours to visit after the terrible circumstances where a person died just doing his job. If anything have some compassion for the family who lost their loved one today. His family thought he was coming home today. He was killed. It should be a sad and frightening day for everyone.

BTW the hotel they stayed at in Manhattan Beach is lots cheaper then hotels near LAX. It's a business mans hotel. It's nice, clean and in a safe environment. Manhattan Beach has only one luxury hotel, Shade. And that hotel is not appropriate for a team. It's a party type 400 buck a night per room hotel. LAX hotels are very expensive with all the international travel that leaves from here. Don't worry our own staff stays in the same hotel when our company has projects in this area.

Just be happy our boys were not there at LAX as they would have been in Terminal 3 where the shooting occurred. I'm so thankful to G-d that no boys were in harms way. Also like my husband just said...why comment about their travels...they have professionals who do this and travel with the team. You know better then the professionals who make all these arrangements? Just give it a rest!

  119. Inyoface:

USC having a nice little run, playing more loosely and having fun equals to more wins it seems.

  120. Inyoface:

The San Jose win against us in 2011 was also a turning point for the Spartans program. Hawaii, on the other hand, has never been the same since that upset.

  121. wasabi:

Polymom...I know players on the team who don't love Chow. Give it a rest...ya, name names...that's a great idea....and once again thanks for pointing out how intelligent and successful you are. Arrogant like Chow...

  122. A-House:

Will the Paniola trophy be resurrected when UH plays Wyoming?

    Where is it any way?

Glad to hear that Chow is keeping his promises to the players and they "love" him. Recall Chow also made a statement that sounded like a promise to the media/fans about chasing championships - hope that happens soon!

  123. NotNasti:

Wasabi, how is Chow arrogant? Do you know him personally? After every home game, he and his family make their way to the Old Saimin House, where my niece works. She is not a football fan, and does not follow the team. She says however, that Norm Chow and his family are some of the nicest people she has ever met. She does not mind staying past closing time to tend to the Chow ohana.

  124. 3-Prong:

Why d1, You Still A Young Man? Going Down To The Nightclub? Like tailgate-em with fellow hipsters?

  125. Not Sean:

Team's flight landed in Ogden, Utah about 20 mins ago

  127. Slugger:

Glad the team was safe during yesterday's shooting.

    Let's go Bows!

  128. d1shima:

    Great Morning All!

    IT'S SATURDAY!

  129. d1shima:

At the very least, the time difference may work to the team's advantage. But still, getting in after 2am anywhere is no fun.

    On the plus side....

    Get Game Today!

    Let's Go Bows!

  130. Maddog50:

Just go out and play the game. Take the frustration of this whole thing out on them. Looking for an energized effort and maybe even a......you got it....win----Go Warriors

  131. d1shima:

I'm glad CGD showed the Derek Carr segment after Hawaii played them.

Best wishes to him, his wife and son.

  132. d1shima:

    Anyboddy up in Logan?!?!?
