That's rich

It was 1999 when former UH basketball player Micah Kroeger and his future wife walked into our sports department and noticed my desktop computer.

"It doesn't have a mouse," she said.

Then she noticed: "The screen only has two colors."

There was no need to mention that the computer did not have access to the Internet.

And that was the end of ignorant bliss. We were technologically poor.

The Rainbow Warriors are learning how the Pac-12 lives while training this week at the University of Utah. It was three years ago when the Utes were in the Mountain West Conference, of which UH now competes. It was 1992 when the Rainbow Warriors had better facilities than the Utes. And that's when, ahem, the Ute-turn began. Donations. The Winter Olympics. More donations. The money was used to build, then expand, and expand some more.

There is consolation. After touring Utah's facilities, a UH official noted: "At least we have nice weather all year long." Indeed.
