The Warrior Beat

O-lineman commits to UH

November 17th, 2013

Tavita "Tui" Eli, a lineman from Kealakehe High, told the Warrior Beat he has accepted a football scholarship from the Rainbow Warriors.

Eli can play both sides of the line, but said he has been told he will compete as an offensive lineman.

It's a key recruit for UH, which is looking to restock the offensive line. The Warriors already have Dejon Allen, Elijah Tupai, John Wa‘a and R.J. Hollis in the wings.

Here's Eli's highlights: Eli video.

Underthrows. Overthrows.

Missed tackles. Missed calls.

An offsides that led to a touchdown. A running-into-the-punter penalty that led to a second chance.

Well, we've all see how a bunch of little things add up to something more significant. Sum of the parts, or something like that (I never could figure out that analogy).

One thing was certain: The evening was a sartorial success.

Psychologists always speak of how color affects mood. There certainly was an upbeat vibe, from the uniforms to the support staff's rainbow-themed shirts. Maybe it's just having something new, even if the "new" is an old look. Maybe the next debate is: Kelly green or forest green?

But I digress.

Nice effort. Tough loss. Onward to Laramie.
