Brrrr.
It's cold in here.

There must be an "Iceman" in the atmosphere.
Update: Dan Kelly chat will be moved up to 2:15 p.m.
New post will be put up to field questions.

Keao "Ao Boy" Monteilh is tomorrow's chat guest, startiing at about 10 a.m.

Inoke Funaki is mulling a decision to serve as chat guest. He's acting shy. So let's give him some encouragment.

Greg McMackin told us last week that Funaki will enter spring practice as the No. 1 quarterback. Tyler Graunke, if he is reinstated, will be the backup at the start of the 15 days of practices. McMackin said each of the quarterbacks will receive an equal number of reps. He said the tentative plan is to have Funaki and Graunke on opposite sides during the three don't-hit-the-quarterback scrimmages in the spring.
The competition opens up again when JC transfers Brent Rausch and Greg Alexander join in August. Former Warrior Matt Harding said he has watched Rausch, and is impressed with his arm and leadership.

Jim Donovan will be confirmed as t he next UH athletic director today. A news conference is set for this afternoon.

Because we still remain without a new contract, the six unions representing The Honolulu Advertiser request that none of our loyal readers serve as a "Super Blogger." If you are contacted by a manager from our newspaper, the unions' preference is for you to decline the offer.
Thank you.

We can understand why interim athletic director Carl Clapp is representing the athletic department at the WAC basketball tournament in New Mexico.
But why is Clapp, not Jim Donovan, scheduled to represent UH at next month's NCAA Final Four, which serves as an NCAA convention? And, yes, the reservations were just made. Donovan is expected to be named the UH AD at a Board of Regents meeting tomorrow or Friday.

The painters are working on the athletic director's office today. It should be ready for Donovan.

Safety Keao Monteilh appears to have fully recovered from a broken shoulder blade.
Monteilh recently bench pressed 315 pounds.

You know, you report on a person for nine years and yet, you find an e-mail like this:

J David send this to Steven Sai ...

It was from June Jones.

UH football clinic sked; Graunke working his way back; call the coach

March 11th, 2008

The Warriors announced their upcoming summer football camps:
2008 Hawai‘i Football camp: Ages 5-12, July 12-13.
Skills Camp: Ages 13 and older, July 15-18

Big Man's Camp: Offensive linemen, defensive linemen, July 21-23
Also, there is a clinic involving all of the UH coaches April 19.
For details, 956-4516 or 739-5444.

Literally ran into Tyler Graunke yesterday — I was looking down, he was looking the other way — and he said he is trying to do the things he needs to do to have his suspension lifted.
As part of his community service to the school, he is working as a groundskeeper on the Lower Campus.

Graunke said he is working out on his own. He said he weighs about 190 pounds now.
If things go well, he should be able to rejoin the team for the March 31 start of spring practice. In either case, Inoke Funaki will enter spring training as the No. 1 quarterback.

Greg McMackin has a new ring tone for his cell: Hawai‘i Five-0.
Slight problem. Bob Nash, Jim Bolla and Bob Coolen also have that ring tone. It should be interesting to see what happens if one of their phones rings during a staff meeting.

While Herman Frazier still has some items in the athletic director's office, the UH staff has been told to prepare the office "ASAP" for the next AD.

Manoa chancellor Virginia Hinshaw recommended Jim Donovan for the position. The Board of Regents will vote on the matter this week.
